Plant help? Ruby red vine and 5 cluster leaves?

The two vines that like to grow up my Middle TN house are Virginia creeper and poison ivy. Creeper usually has five leaves radiating from a central point, and I'm not sure the stem is always red. Poison ivy has three leaves on a stem coming off the vine.

Without a photo, it is hard to identify a plant from just a description. You might take a sample to your local garden center for identification. I love the creeper on the trees and house and am glad the Japanese beetles have moved on and are not eating it anymore.

What plants grow from leaves?

Leaf cuttings are one of the most interesting ways of making more house plants. Growing a new plant, or even several plants, from a single leaf is easy if you choose the right plants and follow a few simple guidelines.Succulent Plants like Crassula, Echeveria and Sedum are the easiest to grow from leaves.you can also grow African Violets, Gloxinia, Cape Primrose and Mother-in Law’s Tongue and large-leaved rhizomatous Begonias from leaves.for more guidance on how can you grow these plants from leaf cutting click on the following link…https://wiki.nurserylive.com/t/p...

What is the name of the vine with drooping 5-petalled flowers that is attached as an image?

As soon as i saw this image, a flashback of my childhood memories came in front of my eyes. I recalled the time when at the break of dawn, my grandma and me used to go to our garden to pluck flowers for everyday pooja ( offerings made to the deity during prayer) and this flower is one of those creepers that would beautifully entwine the arch of our front gate….I remember grandma used to call it “Madhabilata” (the bengali name of this creeper)…as it is very dear to Lord Krishna just like Radha (my grandma’s mythological stories) :’)Okay, sorry for such nostalgia… To quote the facts about this creeper. This vine is Rangoon creeper ( Binomial nomenclature- Combretum indicum). Also known as Chinese honey suckle. In hindi, it is called “Madhumalti” , “Quiscual” in Spanish , “Akar Dani” in Malay and “Niyog-Niyogan” in Philipino. It is a ligneous vine that grows from about 2.5m to 8m in height found in the thickets and secondary forests of India, Phillipines and Malaysia. The flower changes its colour with age from white to pink to red as a strategy to attract pollinators. Initially, it is white but it gradually changes to pink and then to red on the second day. Pollinators are hawkmoths, bees and birds. The plant is used as a herbal medicine. Decoctions froms its root , seed and fruits are used to prepare anti helminthic drugs. Fruits decoction can be used for gargling. Roots can cure for rheumatism, seeds for nephritis. And obviously …a good option to decorate your garden’s front gate ;)…

Are these poison ivy leaves? (with pictures)?

I have some rash all over my face, lips, neck, chest, and hands and I was outside in our yard the other day up against a fence which is covered in countless kinds of plants.

Anyway, some of them look like poison ivy pictures I've seen online so I took pictures of the groups of 3 leaves that look like it. Please only answer if you know for sure! Thanks!!

Do poison ivy, oak or sumac leaves turn red in autumn.?

Your child fortunately has picked Virginia Creeper :-) It's very similar-looking to poison ivy (which DOES turn red), but has five leaflets per stem. It grows very thickly as compared to poison ivy, as a rule, and is often used as an ornamental for its bright red fall foliage.

Poison ivy has much wider leaves, and they are lobed, rather than being finely-toothed as Virginia creeper is; Virginia creeper has a comparatively slender leaf. They both have berries, so that isn't really a distinguishing feature unless you know what to look for.

I'm including links to shots of both plants from Wikipedia (they *do* have good photographs as a rule :-) ) so you can judge for yourself.

What type of flower is this white one with five flat petals that look fused together, and about 12 of them bunched together on the stem?

Paula's right about it being a hoya, specifically Hoya carnosa (sometimes known as porcelain flower or wax plant). I can see drops of a clear liquid on each flower. This is excess nectar dripping as a syrup. I'm mentioning it since anything under the flowers will become sticky with the nectar dripping and either be messy and/or attract unwanted insects. The flowers form on a spur (looking like a long thin leafless floppy stalk). Your hoya will grow more spurs but never remove them even after the flowers have dropped. Flowers will re-form on previous spurs year after year so the more spurs, the more flowers. One last note -- you may find the fragrance of the flowers in the evening too much. As much as I enjoyed it, it was still overwhelming when I was close to the plant.
