What Kind Of Guitar Is This

What kind of guitar is this?!?

60-70's LP copy. very familiar.

these butterfly inlay models got "branded" under several different names, and often were sold with no name on the headstock.

Research "Cameo", "Mann", "Lyle" brand names and even several other names i found. some LP copies under those names were also sold without the butterfly.

Apparently, there were several clones made, from plywood hunks to ones as nice as any coming out of Japan in the late 60s-70s.
the pups and wiring are always cheap but the guitar has a 1-10 chance of being a decent setup, hardware aside.

if it has somehow found decent hardware by now, i'd offer 10% less than the value of the hardware separate.

What kind of guitar is this?

No, it's not a classical guitar. Classical guitars have nylon strings and no pickguard. The "steel reinforced neck" sticker presumably refers to its having a truss rod, which a classical guitar would not have either.

Frankly, it looks like an inexpensive no-name beginner's guitar and hopefully is in good enough condition to actually play. That they used its having a truss rod as a selling point for a sticker - and avoided the term "truss rod" - suggests that it wasn't made to be sold in music stores to musicians who would understand what they were buying, but rather was probably marketed to kids via Sears or Woolworth's or something.

Anyway, though, you can't really go wrong with a few bucks at a garage sale. Put fresh strings on it and see if it can hold tuning. If so, you're good to go. If not, at least you didn't spend much money and got a decent wall ornament.

It is  Gibson J-200. The neck has been removed and replaced by a Bigsby neck, undoubtedly done personally by Paul Bigsby, or by Semie Mosely of Mosrite fame. And if you ever played a Mosrite you'd know they have thin fast necks.A very few of the Nashville type cats of the day knew Bigsby well enough to have their Martins or Gibsons modified in this way, so that they play faster and easier. These Bigsby-customized guitars are considered treasured masterpieces .Grady Martin's custom Bigsby guitarMerle Travis' MartinMerle with his single neck Bigsby guitar. This guitar was made in 1948 and predates by quite a bit, any Fenderor solid body Gibson.Mr. Bigsby( and Merle Travis) arguably invented the solid body guitar, and was only interested in making them for friends and acquaintances. He also invented the Vibrato tailpiece installed on Gretsches and similar guitars. After the introduction of the Telecaster, he started referring potential business to Fender. It is said that he preferred working on motorcycles.http://www.bigsby.com/vibe/The Story of Paul Bigsby

Before deciding what kind of guitar to buy, you should determine what style of music you would like to play. Each type of guitar, because its material and construction, produces a very different tonal quality and hence is used for different styles of music. You should choose the guitar based on the style of music and the sound you like.

Here is a chart of guitars and appropriate styles of music.
Guitar Type Style of Music
Acoustic Guitar folk, country, ragtime, blues, pop
Classical Guitar classical, pop, folk, Latin, jazz
Electric Guitar rock, heavy metal, blues, country, jazz

Here are the descriptions for different types of guitars.

Acoustic Guitar
Also called Dreadnaught guitar, steel-string guitar, folk guitar, or flat-top guitar. This type of guitar's tone quality is bright, brassy, and forceful. It is perfect for folk, country, ragtime, blues, and pop styles. Beginners should use light gauge strings on this guitar for ease of playing because light gauge strings are easier on the fingers. If you desire you can work your way up to medium or heavy gauge as your fingers grow stronger and tougher.

A cutaway acoustic guitar refers to an acoustic guitar with cutaway shape to allow for better access to the upper range of the fretboard. This is a great feature for players who play upper range frequently.

An acoustic electric guitar refers to an acoustic guitar with built-in pick-ups so sound can be transmitted through an amplifier. An acoustic electric guitar produces sound the same way as an acoustic guitar through its sound chamber therefore it can be used without an amplifier. When the guitar is connected to an amplifier, the sound of the guitar is enhanced through the amplifier. For playing with an amplifier, an amplifier between 10 to 30 watts will be more than adequate for home practice.

In addition to buying an acoustic guitar, you may also need the following accessories:

* Guitar Bag or Case - for protecting your guitar and keeping it new
* Guitar Tuner - keep your guitar in-tune
* Guitar Strap - help you hold up the guitar while you play
* Guitar Amplifier - for those who use an acoustic electric guitar
* Music Stand - for holding the music while you play
* Guitar Book - choosing a guitar book that has DVD or VHS will help you learn
* Guitar Strings - a spare set of strings will come handy

What kind of guitar is used in this song?

Sounds to me like he’s got either a lot of reverb effect on there or possibly some chorus.I’m not quite sure. Sounds like some parts might even have delay on them. It’s not a type of guitar as much as it is a type of guitar “effect”.I’d recommend you do some research on guitar effects & how they can enhance the sound for better creativity.I hoped this helped. What kind of guitar did Lead Belly play?

Lead Belly is primarily associated with a 12 string guitar made by Stella having a 16 inch wide lower bout and a longer than usual scale. These instruments were not particularly expensive, but they were sturdy and would take the abuse of being played loudly with heavy gauge strings. Lead Belly typically tuned his strings down 5 half-steps to B-E-A-D-F#-B (low to high pairs).
