What Kind Of Job Involves Designing Car Components Like Engines Turbos And Transmissions And Then

Is it possible to replace the Diesel engine to petrol engine for cars?

Technically YES.Earlier some people did the reverse, primarily to reduce the running expenses. Diesel was much cheaper on a per lit basis but gave > 25 % milage per lit. Now The price difference between the two fuels has been reduced considerably to discourage adulteration and misuse of the subsidy on diesel by (luxury or SUVs) car users.Design all mass produced cars is optimised considering thousnads of parameters. Changing its engine may invariably upset that, resulting in unsatisfactory performance. It may be better to buy a s/h diesel car in good condition as the prices of s/h cars in India has crashed steeply. It is not easy to find a suitable size diesel engine for substitution in a given petrol car because of huge variety now available for both in India. Why be guinea pig for this trial? There are many basic differences between the two types of technologies and engines and associated mechanics and electronics. Therefore it may not be a smart idea.

Does ANYONE here know how to CLEAN intake valves?

BMWs which have the fuel injector mounted in the intake port (ahead of the intake valve) often develop carbon deposits on the back side of the intake valves due to the fuel being, in effect, sprayed onto hot valves. The buil-up can affect the flow of the intake mixture, resulting in rough running, hard starting and POOR fuel economy. NOW I am a GIRL who knows all this and much more, but I am challenging with my QUESTION. Anyone have an answer? a name or brand or a website?

Does anybody know aboout the new law for Volvo 850 ABS and TRAC lights?

The state of NH came out with a new law this year requiring the ABS and TRAC dashboard lights to be off.

I had the inspection done at an independent mechanic. The car passes inpection except for the ABS and TRAC lights.

I went to Volvo and they didn't even know about the new law yet. However, they looked it up and found it in the new book. They quoted $720 for a new computer module and labor.

My question is, how can I get around this? Even they said it was a silly law and that the brakes work irregardless.

I wouldn't sacrifice safety, but I've been driving under this condition for years.

Any ideas? Thanks.
