What Kind Of Jobs Can I Get With A Ged

What kind of jobs can I get with a GED?

A GED can be earned through a series of tests, and rules change from state to state. A diploma is earned through the satisfactory completion of High School. What kind of work would you like to do? Do you mean jobs you can get now, or with more schooling? You could get an entry level clerical job, a job in hospitality (i.e. server, cook, etc), you could be a barista, or even a delivery person. It's hard to say without knowing more about your work history. I won't lie and say that there is no discrimination between GED and a diploma in looking for a job, but most jobs requiring a diploma will accept a GED as well. Just keep in mind that a GED is better than nothing so don't sell yourself short. Anything is possible if you work hard enough for it. One of my friends from college had a GED then went to community college and got her Associates. She worked hard for a good GPA, and ended up in the University of Washington Business School which is extremely competitive. You could also go to trade school with a GED, most trade schools accept a GED. Hope that helps, e-mail me if I can help you more :) EDIT: If you study hard for it, you should be able to get the GED. If I were you I'd go to the bookstore and buy the GED study guides and enroll for a class (perhaps at your local community college). Just the fact that you're so concerned about it shows that you will do what needs to be done in order to pass. Even if you should fail, you can retake the tests, but I don't think you'll need to do that. Good Luck to you!

What jobs can you get with a GED?

If you have your GED, then definitely a good start.

You will also need work experience (if you have none, then don't panic! Draft up a resume with your school, grades, volunteer experience, etc.) and get a retail job, first. This will give you the 'customer service' experience most places want to see.

What you can 'get' with a GED all depends on what you put into it, what work experience you acquire and ultimately, what you're aiming for.

What Kind of jobs can i get with an Ged???

You can get into an entry level job, and also do part-time vocational training. Most states have low-cost training programs (through Social/Human Services depts) to get you into better careers.

There's nothing wrong with having an entry-level job and working hard. Our country was built on people who started at the smallest level but made sure they had plans, help, and the will to keep rising and succeeding. My great grandparents came over here with nothing and had to learn English, but they ended up very well off.

Look for jobs where they'll help pay to educate you further. Hospitals do this, and they also have good benefits.

Don't feel like a loser. Be confident. So, what? You either needed to get your GED because you're not great at school, or you are great academically but blew off your work. If you're great at school but just didn't work hard, buckle down go to college (but pay for it yourself, because a handout will not help you if you're the type to blow off work. You need to feel every penny pinch in order to put your all into classwork). If you're not good at school but are a hard worker, just work hard at entry level, gaining experience and training where you can, and ALWAYS look for bigger opportunities.

Try looking for a part-time job in the administrative or clerical field. You could also work in a call center with flexible hours.

Your local Craigslist classifieds or your area's employment newspaper should give you leads on this.

Personally, I feel you should talk to your doctor about this. With your advanced pregnancy, you could ask for temporary assistance from a medical counselor who could support you till you deliver your baby.

Once you're fitter, you can look for jobs and get further qualifications as well.

Hope all turns out well with you and the baby. Take care.

GED? What kind of good job can i get with this?

Virtually no different than if you didn't have the GED.

I would suggest trying the postal service or another branch of government service. It's boring work, but the benefits and the pay are much better than the private sector. These jobs are sought after, so keep applying. Evetually, you'll get a foot in the door.

If you are going to college, stick with math, hard science, and Composition. The college will have required courses in other areas as well, but math and science will get you into the medical fields, computer science (if you want), and engineering. It's a MUST for college. I mean, everyone wants college to be easy and fun, but what's the point of wasting your money (and 4 years of your life) if you just pick up some light-weight degree that really doesn't qualify you for a good job? I'm 37, and I went back to college last year. I had gotten my GED and joined the work force. I NEVER REGRETTED ANYTHING SO MUCH IN MY LIFE!! I mean, I was tired of school when I was 17, so I dropped out. It was no big deal. I got a decent paying job ( for a 17 year old) and never looked back...until I got 15 years older. My body ached every morning when I woke up and I was tired of climbing ladders and digging in sewers for a living. So, now I'm in school again. Stick with it, man. It's easier to do when you already have the study habits. I had to re-learn EVERYTHING.

Good luck.

What types of jobs can you get with a ged?

This last summer the Social Sciences Research Network published a paper comparing how high school dropouts and people with GEDS fared economically. They found that there was little difference between the two groups. The reason is that students who drop out of high school and get GEDs often lack "soft skills." These include attending regularly, being punctual, getting along with coworkers and other people, and performing required duties.

Most colleges require at least four years of college preparatory English, three years of college preparatory social studies, three years of college preparatory mathematics, and three years of college preparatory science. The best colleges also require two years of a world language. It is hard to meet these requirements in two years of high school. Community colleges, however, generally take people with GEDs.

Like employers, colleges are looking for students who are more than smart. They want students who have an adequate academic background, who have good study skills, and who will complete the work required to pass classes.

If you have seen stories about people who have earned PhDs at the age of twenty, you need to be aware that those are people who are brilliant, not just smart, and who were accelerated at an early age.

You could, however, take extra courses in the evening and during the summer in order to graduate from high school a year early. You could then begin college early.

Be realistic.. if you want to work for something better than Mcdonalds then finish your schooling and grin and bear working at Mcdonalds for now... maybe it will teach you to not be so dumb in the future... you have to live in the real world... these days you are lucky to get a job at Mcdonalds anymore without at least a high school diploma...
