What Kind Of Makeup Will Suit Me Most

Why do I look bad with makeup?

Im 18 and ive been wearing makeup on and off for the past 3 or 4 years. It's been a little over half a year since ive really worn any makeup. I've literally just been washing my face, using moisturizer, and that's it. But I used to wear makeup on a daily basis about a year ago, and then I realized that it just makes me look weird. Makes my eyes smaller, nose look bigger, etc. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but I don't know. I'm Italian, so my skin is very olivy yellow, I've got a lot of skin and darkness around my eyes and bad bags, and a nice big Italian nose. So it's hard to find a foundation to match my skin without making it look orangy or blotchy or dirty, it's hard to cover up my bags and darkness (they're hereditary, so no amount of sleep or drinking water will change them) without noticing the concealer(some concealers actually make them more noticeable), and for whatever the reason, makeup makes my nose look bigger. Maybe I'm doing it wrong? I don't know. I'm the only person to ever do my makeup but I've done my research. So what's maybe a simple look I should try, especially for my eyes that won't make them look so small and tired? Theres also I large space between my eyelid and eyebrows. I guess I have high eyebrows, I dunno, but it looks really strange when I highlight my brow bone since its so far from the rest of the makeup around my eyes. And what colors are good for green eyes? If any one can help, it would be greatly appreciated. :)

Why doesnt makeup suit me?

First of all sweetheart you are being to hard on your self. We never see ourselves like others see us. if you look good with out make up, then you are very blessed. At the same time make up is a tricky thing. It really is a skill. I am super fair....or I am about as pasty as one person can get, with blue eyes and dark hair. Sure the book snow white makes it sound lovely...but trust me it is not. My skin seems to just suck the color out of make up. I had to learn the SKILL of make up, the ART of it. It was it took time, and there are several times I looked down right silly. But I learned.

1st thing I learned is that I can not use the color black for eyeliner. if I do I look goth or like a robber with out a mask. I have to use dark grays or black-brows. had to learn what colors worked on me and then played around with they way it was applied. I love the look of lower lined eyes on most woman, but the way my skin is and the way my eyes are shaped, I can't do that trend. at least not like everyone else. I can if I use softer colors and I get the same look...just slightly lighter. the thing is no one notices that it is a lighter color...just me.

The internet is going to be your best friend, Youtube has a tone of how to videos, So does Pintrest.com. When you do a search be specific to you.... eye liner for blue eyes fair skin. Also hit your mall and the make-up counters there. They can and will help you. Test out products you may be surprised....even the ones that freak you out a little. When the lady at the Mac counter pulled out the Orange blush and told me that was my color, I thought she was crazy....but when applied correctly it looks amazing on my skin. I would have never picked it out on my own....and yet it works better at putting color back into my skin then any other color I have ever tired...and it dose not look orange when done right. But I had to trust her and let her teach me how to use it.

And understand there are going to be some trends that are not going to work for you.....THANKS OK find what does.

Also if you wear something and people make positive comments on it. Believe them. People are not going to tell you, you look Pretty when you don't, they just will not say anything at all.

Why do I find Indian girls applying less makeup compared to other girls in the USA? Is it a cultural thing? Is it only my observation?

I think it has a lot to do with the society. I belong to the middle class society in India where in social gatherings people would ask me how much I scored in my high school, did I get placed in an on campus job. Sense of achievement lies in what your kids do and lesser in how your kids look. At least till you are the so called marriageable age. Only then people would recommend you this cream and that face pack. For example my sister completed her MBBS,and prepared one year for her MD. She gained a lot of weight during that year. She finally got selected for MD and lot of my family friends came home to congratulate her. But none of them even mentioned how fat she has grown. All they could talk was how great an achievement it was.But here in US as far as I have seen and talked to my US friends, how you look and carry yourself is very important. Media tends to glamorize and advertise everything. That one lipstick can get you promotion at your workplace. This also leads to constant insecurity in people that their partners will cheat on them for someone better looking. So we can see a lot of makeup products being sold and bought here. In fact, I have never seen a lot of these products in India!!

Which eye make up suits with maroon gown?

Rose Gold, and Coppers and Bronzes for they eyes to start with.Think MAC antiqued/All That Glitters/Expensive Pink or Dior Beige Massai or Revlon Colorstay Quad In The Buff or even UD Naked 1/Naked 3. Anothet great option on a budget is Makeup Revolution's Neutrals vs Newtrals palette thst has all the shades I talked about.Trick is to make the eyes look light and effortless. I'd wear a very moody maroon with my gown, but that might feel a bit dated. In that case wear a peach lip/nude lip colour to offset the gown. Terracotta browns like Colourpop Bumble would look amazing too!

How do I find the right foundation for dark skin from the Maybelline 'Fit Me' range? Does it leave an ashy look?

There are four ways a foundation color can mismatch:too lighttoo darktoo pinktoo yellowThe first two are a matter of skin tone and the second two are a matter of undertones- cool, warm, or neutral. I find determining my undertone first to really help in setting me on a correct path. A good way to determine it is to check your veins under daylight; if it looks blue then most likely you are cool, and if it looks green then most likely you are warm. Or do you find yourself looking better wearing earthy toned outfits and gold jewelry (warm) or colors like black, white, or blues with silver jewelry (cool)? If you’re confused, you’re most likely neutral! You can also look at photos of celebrities to see who best matches your undertone.Since foundation shades are usually grouped into undertones, it should be easier to discover your shade after determining the undertone. Then, sticking to your undertone spectrum, try the shades - matching them to your neck (not your face!). It’s better if you can try the shades in person. Ashiness means the shade is too light, while if it looks ruddy or muddy then the shade is most likely too dark.If you can’t swatch them in person, however, reading copious amounts of comparisons from other people should help. Most people categorize themselves in MAC shades (as in NW13, NC15 etc) and your MAC shade twin’s match should be a decent match for you as well. Otherwise, tools like Foundation color matching for MAC, Revlon, Makeup Forever and more and Temptalia’s foundation matrix is also really cool- it can determine your matches according to other matches you’ve found in other brands.Happy shade matching!
