Setting up karaoke using software and a microphone?

Hello,

I am hosting a party next week and my husband is insisting that karaoke be a part of the evening. After doing some extensive research, I've determined that using karaoke software with a library is the best bet (since we don't want to buy individual songs just for one evening or buy and entire system). Karafun and Red Karaoke are very similar and I'd be happy using either, but they do not operate on Mac computers.

So my options are to either use Karafun's online player (and Chromecast it to my TV), or to use Red Karaoke's iPad version (and Chromecast it to my TV). So - how do I incorporate a microphone into the mix? What are my options?

If I buy an iPad connection adapter and hook a microphone up, will that work? Where would the vocals be broadcast from? I don't think the iPad would be capable of mixing the audio from the app with the vocals from the mic (but I'll remain hopeful that it can). Can I hook a microphone directly to the TV? I'm guessing no since it would only be able to handle one audio input at a time.

If there's no way to get the music and vocals to broadcast from the same speakers, what other options am I left with? I haven't bought either of these apps, or microphones yet, so tell me what I need to purchase and I'll make it happen.

Thank you so much!

Can I setup a karaoke at home with a mic, laptop & 2.1 speakers?

Yes. You’ll need some kind of hosting program, like Karma or Roxbox, and you’ll need to acquire a bunch of karaoke music in MP3+CDG format. This requires either buying music online, or CDG disks (the most common karaoke format) and a program that will rip them to your laptop like Power Karaoke burner, as well as a drive that will support the CDG format. Many of today’s DVD drives support this, but some don’t - you might need to buy an external Plextor drive for the laptop.

Samsung Smart TV - how to play karaoke or connect microphones to my tv?

For the least, you will need something like this. This goes for any TV, not just Samsung. The Microphones need a ‘bridge’ device to connect itself to the TV. There are a lot of ways however. You can use: Microphones => Karaoke Amplifier => Your Samsung TV. Or : Microphones => Mic Tone control => Your Samsung TV. Then again, this will also depends on what speakers are you using for the output. Your Samsung TV speakers, Active speakers without mic input, Active speakers with mic input, (passive speakers) Home Theater setup using AVR, (passive speakers) Stereo setup using AVR, or even a soundbar.

Can I record a karaoke song with voice using external microphone by mobile?

You want to record yourself singing karaoke with a microphone plugged into a mobile phone? Yes, you can do that, but my question is are you in a karaoke bar or in your makeshift home studio? The answer in both cases is YES, but you need different mics. For recording in a club, use a short shotgun, like this:http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/pr...These little mics made for phones generally suck and while this is a good maker this mic is not well reviewed. Still, it's the best option I could find. There are better short shotguns, but then you have to have a mic stand. The big upside with this is you can use the phone as a camcorder and get some nice audio and video of your performance. As a side not, don't try to put a mic on your body, like a lavaliere mic. Your voice will drown out the music and the mix will be bad. You want the mic and phone in the audience where the mix is balanced. For at home, you want something designed for more studio work, the problem is I can't find anything like that for phones.  There's this:http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/pr...But I've never used it, and if you're going to invest $100 you might as well get a proper audio setup with a cheap larger diaphragm condenser:http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/pr...And a mixer:http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/pr...Then you just need some cables and a descent pair of headphones and you can send the output of the mixer into your phone and VOILÀ! Instant digital audio workstation for about $100.By the way, you can find ever better deals on used gear on eBay and save even more money.

How do I connect my microphones to my tv?

You don't, you connect them to a sound system. Youtube is not a hardware source, it is a content provider for practical purposes. I will assume you are using a computer to get that.

Microphones do not output sound, they input sound and output an audio signal for the sound system to process and amplify to drive speakers, or to record.

You would get at least a small stereo mixer to mix microphone and computer audio, and likely get a pair of amplified speakers, and cabling to connect speakers, microphone, and computer to the mixer.

Or maybe a and all-in-one PA. Keeping with Samson, the XP150 for home or small venues, the XP308i for larger venues.

How can I fix my microphone's delay?

hi, I am using a microphone to sing karaoke on my computer. My computer is a laptop with windows 7. When we talk on the microphone there is a short delay before we hear it come out of the speakers. Is there any way to fix this issue? Do I have to change settings for the microphone? for the computer? Is this issue not fixable? just wondering. thanks.
