What Kind Of Products Do Companies Sneak Animals In

Sneaking a dog on a bus...?

My fiance and I have to travel in a couple of weeks. His cousin is coming home for his last surprise visit before being deployed. The same weekend, another close cousin is graduating from high school. Basically, it's very important we are able to get home for a period of time. Unfortunately, we are unable to rent a car, our vehicle is in disrepair, and 'home' is some 8 hours away. As we can't afford to fly, we must take a bus.
Here's the problem. We have a dog, and we can't find anyone to watch him, nor can we afford a kennel service. Of course, Greyhound has a no-pet policy. We have a dog carrier that is quite discrete--it basically looks like a nice bag--and as our dog is quite small (he's a pomeranian) he'd be easy enough to sneak on, in theory anyway. He's always been quiet and well behaved on previous road trips north. But of course, this is a last resort, and we're nervous about the idea. Has anyone brought a dog on a bus trip undercover? Any stories to share, or even tips?

What does it take to be featured on Product Hunt?

I'm actually writing an e-book on this subject at the moment, but let me give you a quick run-down:First, make sure your product is one of the following:A product or service, preferably from a scrappy startupA live crowdfunding campaignA book relevant to the Product Hunt user baseA startup itselfThen, make sure your product is NOT:in beta or otherwise unavailable to the general publicpart of a larger site (Etsy, TeeSpring, etc.), it should have a unique URLredundant (has it been posted before without major changes?)boringStill, there are 100's of products posted every day and only 20-50 will make it through--how can you stand out?Make your landing page simple and attractive (avoid Wordpress)Have a catchy tagline large and near the top of the page"Court" attention: identify key users and show them your product via Twitter--if you don't receive positive feedback, ASK THEM why not? and actually go ahead and change your landing page based on feedback (real product changes should be weighed more heavily)NOTE: while Product Hunters can submit products on their own behalf, they are subject to review by moderators. It isn't hard to figure out who moderators are (PH has a team page, after all)--and you can ask for their feedback directly via Twitter. If your product has not gone "live" within 48 hours, it was not approved.Try making large changes to your landing page and resubmit in a few weeks. Please let me know if you have any follow up questions. I'm giving a talk on this subject on Thursday, February 5th at 10AM at the Tampa Bay StartupWeek, if you're in the area.

Is Kroger-brand Natural Lysine safe for cats?

Good evening. I have a herpes positive cat and it has been suggested that I treat her using Lysine. I was recently given Kroger-brand pills, but I wanted to make sure that these pills were safe for the cat as they were intended for human consumption.

The ingredients are L-Lysine Hydrochloride, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Dicalcium Phosphate, Stearic Acid, Calcium Silicate, and Magnesium Stearate. Are any of these ingredients harmful to cats alone or in combination?

If this brand is not recommended, what brand do you recommend that is readily available?

Thanks in advance for any answers or guidance.

Can i sneak my reptile on the plane?

Someone will see it in there whether someone checks it or not. Use an airline that will transport pets. Ask them if you can forego checking the carrier in as baggage and claim it as a carry on instead. If not your lizard could freeze (literally) in the cargo hold. Dont try to sneak it on. If they find it (and it's a pretty good bet they will) they will probably confiscate it thinking you're trying to smuggle it into the country for someone else and you have no way of proving you're not. So you'd be in for a LONG prison term. If you're going to do this, do it right. You dont lose your lizard and you dont have to worry about going to jail for something you didnt do.

What is your opinion of Amazon selling steel animal leg traps while supporting the ASPCA thru the Amazon Smile program?

My view on the topic has to be one that is not fully-informed without being able to get direct input from Amazon's owner, Jeff Bezos. I doubt Mr. Bezos would care to chime in on the topic (although it'd be good viral PR in my humble opinion); and I'm a Buddhist web developer (the only one?) who loves animals. So I may not be an ideal opinion on the topic, and certainly not wholly objective. That being said, Amazon has every legal and ethical right to donate money to whomever they wish or support and are of course entitled to sell whatever they can. Ethics are another matter entirely. Ethically, I personally do not see it as a sound venture simply because I don't feel such animal leg traps themselves are necessary, effective, or humane. Apparently these traps, however cruel they may be to the animal caught in them, are still popular. The traps hurt and prolong the suffering of animals unfortunate enough to fall into them; and to me, that's no more humane than trying to dress up like a shrub and stalking animals in the woods. I think there's more skill in sneaking up on an animal and being able to tap it on the shoulder or study it. I would hope legitimate trappers and hunters who need to trap and hunt to support their families (as opposed to doing it so they can relax - and there are more humane alternatives to this such as horseback riding, animal training or learning to survive in the wilderness) find other traps more humane (such as drop-lid boxes or "quick kill" traps) methods. I'm not a trapper or hunter, and honestly if I had to kill animals to survive (and we're not at that point as a civilization) I'd probably stick with tofu, soy, and plants more; because (to me) it's hard to see killing another living feeling being that isn't trying to kill me first. But that's just me, but I don't think Amazon needs the money so badly that they couldn't take a stand if their senior management wished to do so. If they did take such a stand, however, from a business perspective, they'd have to also by the same token not turn a blind eye to other animal cruelty issues that would come up in the future.

Are you more inclined to use cosmetics if they aren’t tested on animals? Why or why not?

Hello thanksfor the A2AI don’t use cosmetics at all. its not because of any moral reason, just not my thing. But if i were to do so, I would not use those tested on animals. There is no reason for us to be doing that. we have the technology, and we understand chemistry to this point. Also, cosmetics arent necessary. We don’t need them to survive. We don’t need to cause torture and agony to those being tested upon. Now, to throw a wrench in the question that i’m sure ill get me some hate, I do believe in some pharmacologic testing on animals. I don’t like it, it bothers me that it happens, but it is necessary. with all the chemistry in the world, we can’t always predict what will happen in the body with certain chemicals. Our technology simply isn’t there. In order to have medicine that will save many millions of lives, we do have to test on something. There have been cases of medication that is very similar to other compounds that were safe, were given to healthy volunteers to test the effects, and it killed them. It is a difficult and painful decision and realization. But to save millions, sometimes a few have to suffer. But Cosmetics are not the same thing. To test unnecessary beauty products on defenseless creatures is inhumane in cruel. it doesn’t help anyone and just causes pain.
