What Kind Of Schooling Would Be Best Before The Behavioral Research And Instruction Unit

What is Instructional Design?

From Wikipedia:

Instructional design

Instructional design, and the more holistically-based practice Instructional Systems Design, are technologies of education and instruction. The term technology is being used in the sense of an applied science. Instructional Design and Instructional Systems Design are scientifically derived processes which are intended to optimize learning gains in knowledge and performance from precisely engineered (and designed) instruction. It is a common misunderstanding that Instructional Designers use physical technology as a method for developing instruction. From a narrow definition of the term 'technology' this may be true. But Instructional Designers will tend to prefer to use the term 'media', instead of technology, when referring to the instructional delivery vehicles that they employ

A useful reference to the history of Instructional Design can be found in The evolution of American educational technology by Paul Saettler (1990). For a sense of the use of term technology, see H.D. Stolovitch and E. Keeps (Eds.), Handbook of human performance technology (1992 &1999).

As a field, Instructional Design is historically and traditionally rooted in cognitive and behavioural psychology. However, because it is not a regulated field, and therefore not well understood, the term 'instructional design' has been co-opted by or confused with a variety of other ideologically-based and / or professional fields. Instructional Design, for example, is not Graphic Design although graphic design (from a cognitive perspective) could play an important role in Instructional Design. Preparing instructional text by E. Misanchuk, and publications by James Hartley are useful to informing the distinction between Instructional Design and Graphic Design

Good Luck....

I want to be a ethologist/study animal behavior?

That sounds like an awesome major. I went to college for Ecology and I took an Animal Behavior class and it was one of my top favorite classes, it was so interesting! If that's what you want to do, try your very best to get into one of those schools. You can take out loans and pay them back later. Your education is worth it.
You could certainly major in biology, or ecology, or try to find a wildlife or wildlife management major and then continue on with ethology for a master's degree if you wish. Any way you go would work and be a smart path. You can do a lot of research one which schools you would prefer now and later and lay out your whole plan.
"Integrate" means that you'll incorporate it into something else, or a larger unit. I'm not exactly sure what that means. May it would apply the animal behavior into real life--maybe field exercises? Real studies? I'm not sure. You would probably end up doing your own undergraduate project. If you want to get into grad school, DEFINITELY do some undergraduate research. It'll definitely help you get into the program you want, and you might not have to pay for grad school at all. If you get into a fellowship or something like that, you'll be doing research and probably teaching a few labs, and they'll pay your tuition for you. Keep researching!
Good luck.

Homosexuality in schools?

Yes I do. But is that good or bad?

Questions about special education inclusion?

You don't say whether you teach at a public school or not; this could make a huge difference. The following applies to public schools:

There is nothing that violates IDEA legislation about this practice as long as the 12-16 special education students are able to make meaningful academic progress in that environment. That's known as 'FAPE' (a free and appropriate public education).

What could be problematic is who the 12-16 regular education students are. Are these students with behavior problems or learning problems but they haven't been identified as needing special education? Ideally, the regular education students in the classroom should be average achievers with average social skills and no significant behavior problems. Your students with disabilities will need to have typically-developing and typically-achieving peers to learn from. That's why most of the research on inclusion is positive--when appropriate supports are provided to the students with disabilities. THey can't just be placed in a regular education class without support.

Most special education programs are "mixed-categorical" meaning that you can, legally, have students with a variety of disabilities in the same type of program. Again, as long as the special education students continue to proffer benefit in this program, there is no IDEA violation.

The only legal violation that could potentially arise here is a caseload issue. Each state has a maximum caseload for each type of program (e.g., learning support, emotional support, autistic support). That means the special education teacher in that classroom will have a maximum number of students s/he can serve in the class.

What are the challenges facing high school teachers?

Thanks for A2A Sed Chapman!I'll take a crack at this. I'm middle school, but I imagine there are aome commonalities. Here are my top 3:Standardized testing. Total waste of time and money. By a very conservative estimate, I have already lost 18 days this school year to testing. That is almost four weeks of school. That's a whole instructional unit's worth of time. Policy made by people who have no clue what's going on. Public perception of educators. Teachers are the redheaded stepchildren of America. It's ridiculous. Those are the first three that popped into my mind.

Why do we need to study human behavior?

I feel the study of human behavior is necessary for the process of self-development by observing & adapting other’s actions or conducts & analyzing the reason behind them.Psychology today as we know it came into play as an aspect of behavioral neuroscience.Other than benefiting people with good relations, business deals, better choice of individuals it has a greater impact on the society we live in today. As thoughts shapes individuals who in turn shapes society- studying & improving them could give us a better individual along with a better & safer society, encouraging empathy, acceptance, independent thinking & reasoning among a variety of individuals within the frame work of society. Morals Or beliefs might differ considerably from an individual to another but science wont.
