Why do people listen to heavy metal and screaming music?

I get that people have their own tastes and all that but what i want to know is why does it appeal to you.

Some people like songs because they are up beat and/or calming.. relaxing even.

others like rap because of what the lyrics say etc but where is the appeal to someone screaming and banging ? it couldn't possibly be relaxing or up beat it doesn't have them qualities surely ?

Can you please name me more "Screaming Metal Songs?

as i lay dying has some awesome material.

i recommend the songs, "sound of truth" or "forever".

EDIT
lencow: excuse me but korn is fu*king badass. LMAO! just kidding, man. it's your opinion. i got nothing on you

What is that rock song? "...Gotta scream!!"?

A song from the late 90s or early 2000s, it is a rock song that screams "gotta scream" or " wanna scream" several times in the song. Each time after those lines he screams Woooo!

This is such limited info but my bf has gone crazy searching around YouTube & the Internet with no luck. I guess it was one of his fav songs. Someone out there has to know! Help!

I want to sing loud / scream to create my own metal songs, but neighbours would probably complain about the volume, since I live in a flat. What can I do?

Unfortunately it’s as some have already said here - most sound treatment really only changes the sound in the room. (An old punk myth states that egg cartons can be used as soundproofing, but of course this is ridiculous - they can make decent dampening baffles in a pinch, but they won’t stop sound from leaking out.)So basically you have to either talk to your neighbors and perhaps find a time that they can agree it’s okay for you to practice/record - personally, I only play or sing at ‘recording volume’ between about 10–4 weekdays, as I know all my neighbors will be at work. It sounds like it would be incredibly endearing to have a neighbor come by and really kindly ask about a time to practice their metal screaming. Bake cookies or something and they won’t be able to refuse. I usually find people like to accommodate ‘creatives’ in small ways like this, especially if it doesn’t really inconvenience them.Or you have to get a space. If you plan on working on these songs with drums, guitar, etc., you will probably need a space anyway, and depending on what city you live in, is not necessarily too pricey. My band shares a cozy room with a few other bands, and each band pays about $100/month, and that’s in Brooklyn. We can keep instruments there, and play as loud and late as we like. Look on craigslist, ask other musicians. NYC and Shanghai both have little pocket neighborhoods dedicated to these kinds of rental spaces, and I’m positive other cities do to.It’s also been observed that there is a proper technique to the metal scream, and one doesn’t necessarily have to ‘scream’ to practice it.Good luck with your music!

What popular songs do their respective artists refuse to play in concert?

It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock 'N Roll). The current AC/DC frontman, Brian Johnson, refuses to perform this song live, out of respect for Bon Scott, the original lead vocalist; this was his trademark song, The song contains the use of bagpipes played by Scott even though he had no previous experience playing it.

Did the Beatles hire girls to scream at their early concerts in order to build their hype?

No. They didn’t have that kind of money.Frank Sinatra’s publicist George Evans did do that for him, in the early 40s, but as Sinatra became more popular, Evans stopped needing to pay his fans because they screamed out of conviction. But the overwhelming body of evidence suggests that before the Beatles first went to Hamburg, they were an underwhelming rock & roll combo with very little following but an implausible level of self-belief, and after they came back from Hamburg they were an extraordinarily charismatic and powerful rock & roll combo. The turning point in their reputation in their home town is generally considered to be their 27th December 1960 gig at Litherland Town Hall in Liverpool, which was only their third date after returning from their first Hamburg visit. They were billed as being ‘from Hamburg’ and most of the audience had never heard of them. The audience had been expecting music to dance to, but accounts agree that when the Beatles started playing, the audience stopped dancing, flocked to the stage to watch them, and the screaming started. That was before the Beatles even had a manager, let alone a publicist. They didn’t get one for nearly another year, when Brian Epstein signed them in December 1961. They certainly didn’t have spare money with which to hire girls to scream.
