What Kind Of Skin Infection Do I Have From Wrestling

Identify a skin infection?

I've had some kind of skin infection in my face for over a year now.
I thought it was staph cause I wrestle and i have had it in the past, so i went to the doctor and they gave me a topical antibiotic and a oral one too but that did nothing and ive had that twice

the severity of the symptoms come and go and i can mitigate it a little bit with the antibiotic cream that i still have (myroprocin) and rubbing alcohol but that does nothing to get it rid of it

symptoms:
red patch of skin
itchy
inflamed when scratched
prickly feeling in skin

please help identify this infection

Ring worms in wrestling?

I m starting my very first wrestling practice session as a junior in high school tomorrow. What is a ring worm and are they permanent? I was told to wear a t-shirt or long-sleeve shirt so I wouldn t get it, not a muscle shirt. Are ring worms deadly or just as affect as a rash?

Why do you have to take your shoes off on wrestling mats in a wrestling room?

Because of diseases. Your shoes are on the dirty ground all day, picking up traces of bacteria, viruses and fungi that then get transfered to the mat, which in turn comes into contact with the wrestlers body.Ring worm, a fungus related to athlete's foot, is the most common and least dangerous of all of these. But I've seen friends contract various diseases, that gave them a rash that quickly over took their entire face, requiring temporary hospitalization, eventually they were fine and there were no lasting effects, but they were lucky to get the medical attention they needed in a timely manner.Wrestling mats need to be cleaned with a strong disinfectant every day, at least once after practice, but if people are walking on the mats during the day before practice then it needs to be disinfected before practice too, to keep the wrestler Fram getting anything nasty.BUT the 2 best ways to avoid the spread of disease, is for the wrestlers to maintain high levels of personal hygiene and for everyone to stop walking on the mats with their street shoes

What do if i have a belly piercing but im in wrestling?

First of all if you take it out that DOES NOT mean you WILL get an infection. I'm going to hope you misunderstood your piercer and that's not what he or she said. If you already had an infection then taking out the jewelry would trap said infection under the skin as the piercing closed but as you are most likely infection free right now it would most likely be just fine, but if you take it our it will close and probably fairly quickly. Infection is caused by bacteria, not the removal of jewelry.
I recommend not wrestling this season as any trauma to the navel may cause the piercing to reject, however if you are dead set on doing this then before you wrestle pad your piercing with gauze to help reduce the damage taken and tape it down securely with a bandage that covers the whole piercing.

If your wrestling partner at practice has ringworm, what is the likely hood of you getting it too?

tell him to be sure not use a towel or anything that guy has used. it's pretty easy to get my best friend got it from using a towel at the gym. it was pretty nasty to get rid of too. especially if there is excessive sweating. just tell your boyfriend to be really careful around that guy

WRESTLING HERPES!!! (need some quick info)?

okay
so right now i'm SCARED OUT OF MY MIND!

i thought i had a ringworm infection
so i used some anti-fungal cream

that didn't work so i went to the doctor
who told me it was ringworm
and gave me another treatment

it didn't work
in fact
it got a lot grosser and painful

now
i went to a different doctor
she said it could be either impetigo or wrestling herpes

she gave me medication for impetigo
but if it doesn't go away......
then by logic it's going to be herpes
>.<

that's what FREAKS ME OUT!!!!
i've been doing my research but i really need to have a couple of questions answered:

1) is it true that this herpes lives only on the surface of the skin? therefore it can go away and not ever come back?

2) if it spreads to the genitals, does it become genital [and chronic] herpes?

3) can i spread it by kissing or sexual activity?

give me as much information as you can please!
and please provide a resource if you can?

Wrestling season starts soon. I just got stitches?

If I were you, i'd wait til it's healed. I went through the same thing when i got stitches. You use your hands alot and theres a good chance you can loosen up the stiches and if someone elses sweat gets in your bloodstream, you can get a nasty skin infection. Then you'd be out even longer. So just wait a week or 2. Your coaches will understand.

I think i have an infected wound?

White bump on the wound - and you squeezed it out; next time you have such situation, leave the white bump as is until it bursts open on its own. When you squeeze the fluid filled pustules or pimple, some of the pus and dead tissues are drained out; however, you have no idea about how much more of the serous fluid remains inside containing bacteria that are spread to the healthy tissue (self inflicted infectious process).

Inflammation is due to the rushing of the blood supply to the injured area to control infection by polymorph nuclear leukocytes (pus cells). Redness, pain and the tightness in the area is an indication of inflammatory response.

Make an appointment with the doctor to resolve your clinical condition even if it is minor at this time. You need to rule out fastidious and infectious organisms that can only be assessed after microbiological work done on the affected part of the body.

Remember, you are athlete (wrestler), you need no harm to your body, always remain attentive to any injury no matter how small/minor it may be.

Good luck!
