What Kind Of Wood Should I Use To Make A Laptop Board

What kind of wood is used to make a skateboard ?

Balsa, so that you can crack your face for asking something so dumb. Leave the ramp making to people who know something about it, and then go to the local skate park. At least there if you crack your face it sounds credible. I would rather say "Dude I cracked my mouth in the skate park," rather than "dude I built this ramp and cracked my face."

What kind of wood should I use to make a Longboard(skateboard)?

It was definitely Dogwood. Dogwood was a strong type of wood, but after the crucifixion, it became a flowery shrub. In Jesus' time, the dogwood grew To a stately size and a lovely hue. 'Twas strong & firm it's branches interwoven For the cross of Christ its timbers were chosen. Seeing the distress at this use of their wood Christ made a promise which still holds good: "Never again shall the dogwood grow Large enough to be used so Slender & twisted, it shall be With blossoms like the cross for all to see. As blood stains the petals marked in brown The blossom's center wears a thorny crown. All who see it will remember me Crucified on a cross from the dogwood tree. Cherished and protected this tree shall be A reminder to all of my agony."

What kind of wood should I use to make a cutting board to replace the one in my kitchen cabinet.?

Make a retriever out of several layers of duct tape, folded wrong side out. Get some extra long BBQ tongs... See if you can push it to one end of the cabinets with a mop or broom, then retrieve from the end. Attach a notebook or other sturdy folded device to the end of your arm, and see if that won't do the trick. Use your imagination! If all else fails, go to granny's house, and borrow her...Grab-a-Can (trigger on one end, suction cups on the other, for retrieving cans in the cupboard; most grannies have one...)

What kind of wood should i use for a cutting board?

I wouldn't use either of those. Oak is an open grain wood and will absorb liquids easier and poplar is a fairly soft hardwood. If you want contrasting natural colors I would think about maple and cherry. They are both hard and closed grain. When I was a kid I made a cutting board with these and almost 30 years later my parents are still using it! I glued up alternating pieces of each cut to 1-1/4" then crosscut the slab into 1-1/4" widths. I turned them end grain up for more resistance to slicing and shifted each piece so it was a checkerboard pattern then glued those up. I cut the slab to final dimension, sanded flat, put rubber bumpers on the bottom and finished it with peanut oil. They loved it!

What kind of wood is best to make a skateboard?

canadian maple is probably the best. like, MOST, almost ALL, skateboard decks are made of that. they use epoxy resin or watever and they glue 7 plys of the wood together. usually its 7, sometimes its 8 or 6 or less. then its a bad board. first, they get the wood, thin it out into really tiny sheets, crush the sheets together with the glue in between, let it sit and then they cut the wood into the shape and then put the design

What is the best wood to use to make a chalk board?

I would probably use MDF, which stands for Medium Density Fiberboard. It is a composite wood product that is very stable, but the main reason I would use it is that it takes paint beautifully. It has an extremely smooth surface and comes in large sheets, which are two characteristics I imagine you would want in a chalkboard. One thing is that you would have to put some type of frame around it so that you won't see the edges, but that could be as easy as just some 1/4 round molding. Another thing about MDF is that it is pretty heavy, so if the chalkboard is going to be large it will probably not be very portable.

You could also use finish grade birch plywood--it is nice and smooth and lighter weight than MDF, but probably more expensive and you would still have to cover the edges.

You could also paint directly on the wall if you wanted to have the chalkboard in a child's room. But then it wouldn't be portable.

What is the best wood for surfboards?

I’m assuming you know that most boards are made of foam today. It’s lighter, has more pop, and is much cheaper to work with. But you asked about wood. Several years ago I watched a film about a master shaper who was working with different types of wood and had found the ideal type to use that, oddly, does not absorb salt water.Meet the Paulownia Tree.Tom Wegener has been at the head of the Paulownia revolution in surfboard shaping. He is, undeniably, a master shaper and is credited with the creation of the alaia revolution and has earned his PhD by writing papers on the sustainability of surfing using wood products rather than destructive and non-biodegradable foam/fiberglass. His Sunshine Coast board factory has won awards for being environmentally friendly through his use of paulownia wood.Alaia Surfing:Quick Clip of Wegener Shaping an alaia board from Paulownia wood:Balsa is sometimes used as well, but the fact that wood likes to absorb water (saltwater especially) makes it certainly problematic for surfing. Paulownia wood, which resists absorption of salt water, is very light and have quite a bit of flex needed for firing out of the curl.Interested in shaping your own board from wood? A traditional English longbow is made of yew. It is made in one piece with a combination of sapwood and heartwood as the sapwood resists breaking under load and the heartwood resists compression. It tapers from the middle of the bow to the ends of the arms with a generally ovoid cross section and reaches lengths of up to 6 feet.Hope that helps
