What Kinds Of Art Are There That Are Cartoonish

Are there any artists who have an extremely cartoonish style?

Karl HadrikaHe has this “Ren & Stimpy” type art style. Here's some of his work:He also makes really great animations:BECKY PRIMRoadkill Redemption

How to get my portraits to look less cartoon-ish?

Your example drawing looks very "stiff" if that makes sense. The nose looks also a little too long for the face (i mean by a few hairs or so). I would recommend softening up your lines.

Have you studied the anatomy behind the face? Have you looked at professional drawings of the skull, the muscles involved in the face, etc....? Knowing the basic anatomy and physiology behind any life form (humans, cats, dogs, horses, etc....) is essential for trying to draw something realistically.

Try drawing a 1cm by 1 cm (or 1 in by 1 in) grid over a picture of a celebrity you would like to draw. Then, on blank white paper, make a grid with LIGHT lines with the same dimensions (1 cm by 1 cm or 1 in by 1 in). Try to replicate the picture, box by box on the new grid you drew. this will make the picture seem less intimidating, and this way, you can focus on the picture box by little box. This way, you are NOT tracing the form, but you are still learning the basic structure and shapes on whatever body you are trying to draw.

I would recommend trying to draw the skeleton of forms first, then muscles, then actually draw them as they look in pictures. This way, you "build up" your drawings from simple to more complex. It may sound like nonesense in the beginning but it actually really helps you in the long run!

Final thing to say,
Art is forever a process! This is no "quick cheat sheet" for artists to try to run to become their own masters. Look at youtube "how to draw" videos, learn from them, use their influence to create your own wonderful works of art! Art skills are just that, skills that take practice practice practice to develop and become your own :)

Who are some artists that use a cartoonish drawing/animation style?

A few I can think of are Richard Williams, Chuck Jones, Brian Bolland, Alan Davis, Mike Mignola, Berni Wrightson, Will Eisner, David Lloyd, Dave Gibbons and John Richardson. When you say “artist” you are covering animation, comics and illustrations so there are a lot of examples. The word “cartoon” comes from the line create for a painter to use as a guide for a finished painting. These can be found as far back as Michelangelo, DaVinci, Rembrandt. They did the drawings, scaled them to the size they needed using a grid method and drew the outline on sheets of paper and transferred these sometimes to a wet plaster type surface. Either with poking a pin hole through the canvas and redrawing the line or using a graphite to aid them. So, as you can see, the word “cartoon” is a lot older than you think. As for animation, cave paintings show us images of Bison with several legs, suggesting movement during the hunt. This we still use today in many methods.

How do I make my paintings look more realistic and less "cartoonish"?

Wow, this is a tough question. Rarely when you look at a painting do you think 'that can't be a painting, it's a photo.' Two artists I've met can pull this off, Yan (John) Sun of Ohio [China's highest educated artist] and Ray Dunlevy of Pennsylvania. The paintings of Vincent Van Gogh and Claude Monet' don't look a bit realistic but they are all time great works of art.

My paintings for many years appeared cartoonish. They still don't seem realistic but they have evolved. The only thing I can recommend is to do what I do, work them to death. Also, I work with acrylics because I don't have a proper work studio. I think that if you can work with oils that you can get better blending which will make your work less cartoonish. I can't stress the importance of light in a painting, look at Thomas Kinkade paintings. Finally, if you can, get honest critique and constructive criticism from fellow painters, it's invaluable.

Your art is where you're at now and will evolve. Cartoonish doesn't make it bad. Practice blending and light, easier to do with oils.

How do I draw a cartoon-ish vortex and blurry silhouette in Photoshop/Paint Tool SAI?

The vortex shape you could just paint with large soft edged brushes, perhaps making an initial radial gradient with the gradient tool in photoshop, and painting further detail, then use the Twirl filter in photoshop to spin it into a vortex.

For the silhouette, take a photo of a person, use the quick select to select the person, fill it with black, invert the selection, then erase the background. Then deselect. Then use gaussian blur to blur it

How to draw a sexy cartoonish anime girl with big boobs?

Begin by making a copy of another anime girl. Don't feel guilty about this, as when you finish you will have a sexy cartoon of your own. Change the face first. What kind of cartoon are you aiming for? Micky Mouse, or Donald Duck or one of the newer ones? Google "cartoon figures" for a wide range of information. Add to your drawing some of the various pieces of information or design or color you have gathered from your search. Be sure to change the limbs on your cartoon figure and make them different from the original anime girl you began with. Basically compile enough data to make your own anime girl. Another idea I will throw out to you from left field is that you could ask one of your girlfriends for some help on the drawing, etc.Good luck!

What is it called when someone draws your portrait into a cartoon?

They have these people standing outside of amusement parks and various other places but they draw your face and make it look cartooney. Do you know what these pictures are called?
