When is the best time to hire a landscaping company? Fall or Spring?

I work at a landscape company, and the best time to hire is fall for an early to mid spring install. In spring, we finish what job were cut short by winter and start any jobs that were projected as late fall but never started. The opposite can work, too. You could set up in the spring for a fall install. Landscapers are always looking for that job that's going to get them through fall until shutdown time.

Can you uproot and replant a grown palm tree?

Yes, it is done all the time. That is how newly built resorts in Las Vegas, Florida, California and other subtropical to tropical locations have big palm trees right from the get go. Palms are much more resilient to being dug up when mature than other types of trees. This has to do with their fibrous root system and lack of a tap root. Their roots are usually less than an inch thick and more can easily grow from the base of the trunk. The big palm producing nurseries have land where they grow the trees from seedlings. Once they are big enough they will dig them up (using heavy equipment) and put a burlap sack, or wooden box planter, around the roots. Then they are ready to go when an order comes in.If you are asking about a palm tree in the ground somewhere that you want in your yard, or to move from one house to another, you can do that. Unless it is pretty small I’d recommend talking to a landscaper with experience in doing this. If it is particularly big then you may need to contact the larger landscape companies in your area as the little guys won’t have the machinery to do this properly. You need a backhoe, flatbed truck, and likely a crane to move big ones.

How do I stop a neighbours palm trees dropping its seeds all over my lawn everyday?

I have a neighbours palm trees dropping seeds into my pool and yard everyday by the bucket load. I would rather not poison their tree but I am desperate to stop the seeds continually falling into my yard. Any help would be great?

Is it danerous to plant queen palm near pool due to the root balls. afried it might break water line uner grou

Hello. I am a Certified Master Gardener. Horticulture was my major in college. I have been employed in a plant nursery, and I work with plants as a volunteer at my local Botanic Gardens.

Near the pool is an excellent place for a queen palm. The root ball is mostly just under the surface of the soil, spreading like a net to anchor it very, very firmly in the soil.

Palms do not have water-seeking invasive roots, as do Willows (Salix babylonica). Water-seeking, invasive roots can actually grow down to and break sewer pipes. Palms do not have a large tap root system, either.

A friend had their pool & spa area professionally landscaped, and the landscaper installed all types of palms. It's beautiful.

I sincerely hope this helps you.

Can I sell my sago palm tree?

I don't think a nursery would buy it, but you might find someone to buy it on www.craigslist.org or something.

A man wanted to plant 4 plants, but all 4 had to be equal distances from each other. How did he do it?

It may be possible at two locations on earth, if you consider earth as a perfect sphere. On the north and south poles. He can place one plant on the pole. Then he should place the other three plants such that any two plants and the plant on the pole make an angle of 120degrees.Cheers,
