What Laptop Should I Get

What laptop should I buy?

While the Macs have cool looks, they are only overpriced kids toys and are also incompatible for most things you will need to do. Plus you can hardly do any gaming on a Mac...

Get a PC Laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium. Here's what to look for when buying one:

The brand (HP, Toshiba, Dell, Sony, etc) does not matter all that much, it's what's inside that matters most. They are all Made in China anyways...

Get an Intel Core i5 or Core i7 CPU (Processor). DO NOT GET AMD OR PENTIUM processors.

Get at least 4GB of RAM Memory (DDR3 preferred, DDR2 is also OK). 8GB RAM is best but will cost extra.

Make sure it has dedicated graphics (a Graphics Card or GPU) of at least 512MB. GPU of 1GB or more is better, but more expensive. It should say either nVidia or Radeon (ATI) on the graphics.

DO NOT GET Integrated Graphics (on board or from processor) - if it says Intel Graphics or Intel HD Graphics is Integrated.

While SSD hard drives are best and fastest, they are way too expensive and small in size (64GB to 256GB), thus not recommended for a laptop, where you only have a single hard drive installed.

Get a normal, spin hard drive of at least 500GB (1TB or more is better, but will cost more). Seagate hard drives are the best, the WD Caviar are also OK.

It should have incorporated Webcam and Microphone on top of the screen (most laptops have them nowadays).

Make sure you have at least 4 USB ports (if one or more are USB 3.0 all the best, but USB 2.0 are OK).

The Firewire (IEEE 1394) and the e-Sata ports are good to have, but not mandatory.

At least a DVD/CD writer drive. A BD (Blue Ray drive) is more expensive and not necessary.

Of course you want WiFi (wireless) and ethernet connection.

Make sure it has at least an 8 cell battery (10 cell is better but cost more). This will ensure better battery life, both between charges use and overall battery life.

Get the Windows 7 Home Premium operating system. Do not get Windows 7 Starter or Home Basic.

You might wanna print this and give to the store tech guy when you go shopping for a laptop.

Good luck.

Just a quick suggestion, you might be able to get a decent desktop for that price, with no screen, just the computer itself.

Which laptop should i get??

Currently I have a 13 inch Macbook Pro with Retina display. It has 4 gb of RAM and 128gb of storage. So far it has been perfect with photoshop and premiere pro (short videos at low resolution). However it heats up and lags a lot with Final Cut Pro.
I am currently thinking of getting the HP Spectre x360

I want to know if I should keep my laptop or get the HP. I really want to get more into video editing. Not super intense videos just action videos i shoot on my go pro at 1080p.
Should I upgrade or stick with my Mac?
Also if anyone has the x360 could you tell me if it lags a lot or if it runs smoothly?

Please answer the question and if you know of a laptop better than these two please let me know. However the price can't be above $1400 and I need a laptop under 14". Thank you so much!!!

Edit: Also most nights I will keep my laptop open and plugged into the charge downloading apps or movies. Will the HP be able to handle that or will that be too much?

Which laptop should I buy for my B.Tech?

If you are a computer science student then any laptop can fulfill your needs of programming. For other branches, what I have seen is,  people mostly use their laptops for movies, games or surfing on the Internet. So I would recommend you to buy a laptop with decent configuration and a graphics card if you play games. If you are really passionate about gaming,  then you can go for high end laptops otherwise it doesn't really matter which laptop you are using. I bought Lenovo IdeaPad in first year and till date it didn't need any kind of service. And trust me no one has used his laptop more than me, for all kinds of work. All the best! !

Which laptop should I get for gaming?

I am planning on buying a new laptop that I would mostly use for gaming. One is a Gateway with Intel core 2 duo 2.0 ghz, 4gb ram, 250 gb hdd, and Ati Radeon HD2600 with 512 mb video memory. The other is an HP with Amd Turion x2, 3gb ram, 250gb hdd, ATI Radeon HD 3200 card with up to 1406mb total memory. The thing that matter are the processers, ram, hard drive (although there the same), and graphics card. The hp has upgradeable ram to 8gb.

Its kind of long...............
If the link doesnt work tell me.
Plz tell me the best one of the two and remember they are for gaming.
Thanks

What laptop should I get for college?

I would recommend looking for a thin and light laptop. Current ultrabooks can easily handle all your school requirement. With a light laptop, you get more portability to take it any where. Your backpack will get so much more lighter.A good battery life is always helpful. You don’t want to search a seat next to power plugs in class. In terms of configuration, I will definitely buy one with SSD and highest RAM I can afford.
