Can you get in legal trouble for catfishing someone?
If the cat fishing involves stealing someones identity without them knowing and they choose to go after you in civil court for some damage that was done to them, yes. That can be a hard standard to meet though.If, in the course of cat fishing someone, you manipulate someone into giving you things that have a monetary value and they can successfully argue that it is who you were pretending to be that led you to do it you may be able to get compensated in civil court. Arguing they would not of done it if they knew you were of bad character is not enough though, one can not get paid back for making a foolish choice-it has to be specific and tied to specifically to who you claimed to be and reasonable that the person believed you.For a criminal case against someone who catfished you there would have to be fraud as described by another answer or an age-based crime (for example transmitting explicit pictures of or to a minor) that comes into play when the real ages of the people involved are known. If I pretend to be 16, and you are really 16, and we are sexting but it turns out I am 20 I could be found guilty of crime(s).

Can i face legal trouble for this?
My baby just turned 1 and is into EVERYTHING, she is always knocking things over, getting into stuff she isn't supposed to be in, i constantly have to gate her in her room. I've tried every disciplinary method in the book from time out to spankings, but recently a girl at work showed me that if i ball my finger in a knuckle and just gently push it into my baby's kneecap cartledge it gives a firm message of "no", i make sure to say "NO" when i do it, and it doesn't leave marks like spankings or hitting does, that's why i like it, it gets my point across, and i'm not leaving physical marks. Anyhow recently a girl who works at my moms church saw me do it and she said i could get in trouble for doing this because Kayla is just turning one and not walking yet and she felt i was destroying the tissue in her leg, anyhow, can i get in legal trouble for this if bethany from my moms church reported me???

Everyone here has suggested going over to police or a lawyer. But that would be too draining for both the parties. Why not try to talk to them, in a polite non-hostile manner? Why not listen to their side of story once? They deserve a chance to explain their behavior. Since they are biased towards your family, try sending some other neighbor or person they are not hostile towards. Maybe they talk to him/her. As the person to tell them the problems not as problems but as kindo of gossip. They may give in and state their problems or whatever it is. Then you can work towards changing the situation. If this does not work, then you have the police and court doors open. Also, continue collecting proof. Remember, voice recordings are no proof in a court of law.
