What Makes People Look Younger

Why do some people look much younger than their age?

I'll answer this on behalf of my wife who is one year younger than me but looks about 15 years younger.Despite being 45, she is constantly mistaken for a woman in her 20’s, is still challenged for ID in certain places, and generally attracts plenty of looks from young lads. She attributes it to lifestyle and genes. Now when I say lifestyle, I do not mean healthy living from a nutrition or exercise point of view. Whilst she is a vegetarian, she scoffs chocolate and ice cream as if each time will be her last and won't go near a gym as she detests fitness. She does however, stay out of the sun and she rarely drinks alcohol. She consumes water by the gallon and sleeps like Rip Van Winkle. Allied to a very good metabolism, these four things she says are the reason for her amazing complexion. This was taken in 2001:This was at the London Eye in October 2016:This was taken last week. I've removed my ugly mug hence why it's grainy:After being asked a few times to put a picture up of the both of us together, here you go (from last summer). Be gentle…

Why do some people look so young?

I have often wondered what "looking your age" actually means.
According to feedback...I have never looked my age and this has been happening for many, many years. I just think we have some genetic time-line of wear and tear on our system and our looks.
I just tell them, "This is what ____ [insert age] looks like"....because this is the only ME I have.

Unless the person you are talking about is over 30, they are going to look young to some people. Looking "youthful" after you get to be age 40 on up...is not such a bad thing. Tell the "someone" not to worry about looking young. One day that person will be happy about it.

Does being slimmer make people look younger?

That depends. Sometimes when someone who has been big loses weight rapidly they can actually end up looking older due to excess skin. Their face might look gaunt in comparison to how they used to look adding on some years. Extra weight can add a roundness to the face that gives the look of youth. However if you lose the weight slowly and healthily and ensure you stay hydrated to help with skin elasticity, you could give yourself a healthy "glow" and add a spring to your step. Sometimes clothes shopping for larger people can be a nightmare but once you get down to a certain size, your wardrobe options increase and you will find you can now dress in a different style. This will also have an impact on what age you look.

Do you think skinny people look younger?

It can go either way. I think I look younger when my face and body were more thinner. Probably because people usually are more skinnier when they are children. And I read in a magazine, that people generally think they look younger when they are thinner.

But, if you go too thin, you will look whithered and haggard. Take, for example, Mary-Kate Olsen. I think she looks alot older now because she is too thin. It makes her look like an old lady.

Do backpacks make people look younger?

I'm a junior in high school but I look a lot younger, sometimes people think my 8th grade sister is the older one. I want to get a backpack so that it's easier to carry stuff but I feel like if I wear a backpack it will only make me look younger. This probably sounds like a stupid question but any answers would be nice.

What are best example of people looking so younger then their actual age?

I’ve been told I look younger than my age. I attribute it to not spending a lot of time in the sun, and wearing a wide brimmed hat since I was 50. That was advice from a skin care specialist who provided my first “derm-abrasion”. I replied “But I don’t look good in hats!” I knew that she was right to suggest I protect my fair skin. I also use sun screen, If I forget, my skin will burn.I’ve never worn much make up, and still don’t, unless I’m going out, which is also very rare. Good posture has always felt better to me.I don’t drink or smoke, beyond a glass of wine a couple of times a year. Although I was a cannabis grower, I never was much of a smoker because I didn’t like the feeling of smoke in my lungs. I use a vape pen once in awhile now.As for diet, I eat almost anything, except fast foods. I make an exception for In N Out burgers, once in awhile. I don’t drink carbonated drinks unless it’s ginger ale if I’m sick, which is rarely.I rarely get very stressed, and can let go of things easily. I don’t watch news, and never have. Just hearing the droning sound from another room affects me negatively. People ask “How do you know what’s going on?” Well, most times I don’t, but hear it from friends or read it online.I take some vitamin supplements and DHEA, which helps with my energy.I’m dealing with a lot of arthritis, which might have been avoided with a stricter diet.I probably look a lot younger than I feel.

What makes faces look younger or older?

I have worked with many plastic surgeons, and here are answers (other than wrinkles) that they had given me before:

A. The Nose - As you age, the angle from the tip of the nose to the upper lip declines. A young person will have an angle of 100 degrees whereas an older person will have an angle less than 90 degrees.

B. Jowels and increased skin or fat on the chin line. As you age the elasticity of the skin decreases so it sags below your chin, also the amount of extra fat increases under the chin. The effect is to create a 'longer' face as the sight line drops from the eyes to an additional .5 to 1 inch lower.

C. The bagginess around the eyes. The lower eyelid increases in fat density and the upper eyelid has additional loose skin. The effect is to create tired vs. fresh eyes.

D. Teeth and eye color. Older people have yellower teeth and their eye color is not as bright/white.

Why do single people look younger than married ones at the same age?

Assuming the premise is true, which personally I have not noticed.  There are the following few possibilities:Single people try harder to look their best, and looking good usually involve looking youthful.  Married people have less of an incentive to look good.A single person who looks more attractive/youthful than the average person of the same age, probably has more options in the relationship/dating scene that he/she can delay marriage to a later stage.  The opposite kind of person possibly feels marriage is something that needs to happen earlier if it is to happen at all.Marriage, the kind of commitment, cohabitation and possibly childcare usually brings out a more mature attitude from people.  And often maturity is contrasted with youthfulness.Marriage is so stressful that it really ages people faster[Citation needed]
