What Makes You Lose Respect For Someone

What does it mean to lose respect for someone?

Losing respect for someone is not reversible; when its lost its lost, it's gone. It's not a misunderstanding, it's a choice.
These are the sorts of things that will lose respect points:
1) Dishonesty
2) Laziness
3) Disloyalty
4) Disrespect
5) Ignorance

Do you lose respect for someone if you find out they smoke?

No, but I prepare a speech for them at their funeral.

What makes you respect someone?

Those are two different senses of respect -- the "baseline" as you say, which everyone should get just for being human (unless they really deserve to not even get that).

The other sense is a different concept -- high regard for someone. (I'm a big fan of Neil, too!)

That they're a good person is a biggie. Intelligent, I respect that. Being knowledgeable.

I don't have any respect for people who are good at sports, as I don't consider than valuable.

I disagree about giving talented or intelligent people license to be unethical.

Character is the best thing to grant extra respect FOR.

What would make you lose respect for someone else?

Disclaimer : The below stated qualities are as general as it can get and is my personal opinion. There are no intentions to hurt anybodys feelings.Trying to outsmart someone to satisfy one's insecurities.Self-assumed superiority of oneself over others. Not stating one's thoughts and opinions, when it is clearly necessary.Trying to please everyone, all the time.Being two-faced and disloyal. ( I can never tolerate that! )Being over dependent on someone else and not trying to be self dependent. Added to that, being envious of those who are independent.P.S : I’m not perfect in my ways and I'm aware of that. Also, I do know that it's alright to be flawed. I have a wonderful set of friends who have taught me so much in my life. Some of the above stated qualities were once mine and I'm thankful for having changed myself.

Songs about losing respect for someone?

Are there any songs about the following:

Losing respect for someone,
Not being able to forgive someone and yet still moving on,
Standing up to "female hound"
Not caring about someone anymore.

I like most music, except screamo, I prefer music like James Morrison does, but any will do, upbeat pop, soft rock or dance.

Did you ever lose respect for someone whom you loved?

Yes a very dear best friend of mine. I can go on forever about her she is like a sister to me. We grew up together from kindergarten until high school and to when we were adults. We talk about our ups and downs and there is not a day that goes by where we don't talk. Sometimes life gets in the way and we don't see each other but when we do see each other there's nothing but pure love. An incident occurred to her family where everyone knew except for me, the whole community knew and I was last to know not by her but by someone else. I told her about it and she lied, saying that she forgot but she was going to tell me since I had bought it up. I told her this wasn't the first time, since she always didn't tell me stuff like that but I forgave her and told her it must have been personal for you hence you don't need to tell me what happened; I respected her but I felt that maybe I was no longer considered her ‘best friend’ in her eyes and maybe I was no longer important for her to tell me such personal things when I told her everything, still I respected her decision but my only purest intentions were to help her during the difficult times as she has helped me. I told her that she should have told me because I wanted to be there for her in case no one was. She told me all was fine and we went on with our lives. A few days later, I hear by her (telling someone who was extremely close to me) that she didn't tell me because she didn't trust me and I was a hypocrite and she was scared I would spread rumours about her; that meant that all those other times weren't pure coincident but rather her intentionally not trusting me when I trusted her with everything. It broke me into pieces and I was truly heartbroken . I was absolutely shattered and I felt hat I no longer had anyone because she was the only one who I truly considered a friend since I am such an introvert. We still talk, I talked to her about it and she avoided it. I forgave her (literally the next day, although I was and still am hurt) because I am not the type of person that holds grudges against people, but I will never be the same again because she broke the only ounce of trust that I had in people. We talk but it's not the same anymore. Moral of the story? Don't trust anyone. My best friend broke my heart more than any guy could have.
