What do you look like?
I look like Jack Skellington from the movie “Nightmare before Christmas”.I am lanky, with skinny limbs longer than my torso, square shoulders, and narrow hips. I have been called a carrot, a stick insect, a stick figure, among other derogatory names for skinny people, while I am not underweight. I am just lanky.My face is like an egg from the front and like the cartoon character Johnny Bravo from the side. I have a long hawk-like nose that has an end round like a little plum stuck on it.My face and the rest of my body do not match in their proportions, because my face looks remarkably small in comparison to my long body. This often misleads people to believe that I am a lot younger than I look.I have dark brown eyes that look like honey when winter evening light shines on them.I am brown-skinned, something between the shades of liquid caramel and Cafe Latte.I have pitch black long straight hair which seems to wave more and more as I age, and it makes me look like a raven when I leave it open.My fingers are just bones with skin on them, and people often ask me if I am a dancer after seeing my fingers. I have never really managed to figure out the connection.My teeth look perfectly beautiful and orderly from a certain angle and completely crooked from another.All in all, I am the female version of Jack Skellington, with hair and eyeballs, and crooked teeth.
What ethnicity or nationality do strangers often mistake you for because of your appearance?
It depends on which country I am in. For example, many Malays are mistaken as Hispanic or Filipino in the US (or Canada).There are many people from the Philippines working at the Dubai Airport, and almost always they assume that I am from their country.Some Filipino bus or taxi drivers in Australia will ask if I’m from the Philippines. Some friendly Indonesians will ask me if I’m Indonesian, some friendly Malaysians will ask me if I’m Malaysian…Many Indonesian women work in Taiwan as domestic helpers, and during the couple of times I was there, a few Indonesian women asked me if I’m Indonesian.Of course, I blend in quite well in Indonesia due to my appearance (and without the funny touristy hat, ‘I LOVE INDONESIA’ t-shirt, and camera hanging from my neck!).It’s also good for my personal safety (for the record I am not saying Indonesia is a dangerous place, but it’s wise to do what you can to ensure your personal safety, like in any country in the world - better safe than sorry!), since I travel alone there most of the time.I speak a little bit Bahasa Indonesia - enough to get by. I was told that my Indonesian dialect sounds like I’m from Western Sumatra. So, that prevents me from getting charged ‘foreigner prices’ at some places… sometimes. Haha!In Thailand, the locals always assume I’m Thai.It’s all good fun, for me. :)

If all ethnicities were mixed, how would people look like?
You can already see that today in the mixed-race Latin-Americans, who have been mixing for centuries. Latin America is the region in the world where people have mixed the most. The original indigenous people (who trace back to Siberian Asians) mixed with European whites, then came along the African black, and later migrations brought modern Asians, Arabs, and many more Europeans. A mixed world would look pretty much like what Cuba, Puerto Rico, Venezuela and Colombia look like today, in which you have people of all features and shades but the vast majority is and looks mixed.
