Can iPhones be updated without WiFi?

Yup! Sure they can! All you have to do is connect them to a computer with iTunes that has connection to the internet, and press update on the iPhone’s page within iTunes. It should download the update to the computer first, and then apply it to the iPhone without the iPhone ever needing an internet connection. This is what Apple has to say about it:Update your device using iTunesIf you can’t update wirelessly on your iOS device, you can update manually using iTunes on a computer that you trust. If your computer is using Personal Hotspot on the iOS device that you’re updating, connect your computer to a different Wi-Fi or Ethernet network before you update.Install the latest version of iTunes on your computer.Connect your device to your computer.Open iTunes and select your device.Click Summary, then click Check for Update.Click Download and Update. If asked, enter your passcode. Why won't my iPhone 4 update to iOS 8?

HELP, PLEASE!! Ever since iOS 8 came out I've been trying to update my iPhone 4 but every time I try, it just says that it's already up to date. Thing is, it's only updated to iOS 7.1.2! At first I thought it was just because there wasn't enough space on my phone to update it so I deleted a bunch of old pictures and apps that I never use to try and make room yet it still said that it was up to date. So then I tried restarting it and it still didn't work. Since then I have deleted a bunch more stuff and restarted it countless times but it still won't update. I was able to update my iPad mini to iOS 8 without any problems at all but I can't update my phone. I'm at a loss on what I should do or try now. Can someone PLEASE help me?!?!?! I would greatly appreciate it!!(:

How do l update an iOS using mobile data?

It is true that you can’t directly update iOS with mobile data. However, if you hotspot your iOS device to a laptop or other computer, connect your device with a USB cable and open iTunes on the computer. You can then go to your device in iTunes and hit update, at first it might feel like it won’t work since the update can’t download if the phone is the internet connection and is being updated. But, I can assure that iTunes will download the update first around 300–700mb (so be careful if you have a data cap) and then install it.I hope this helps.

I want to update my iPhone to iOS 8,but my iPhone didn't have enough space to update. Is there any way to make the iOS 8 update without deleting content on my iPhone?

Fair warning: I am going to recommend a third party app to address the original poster's question. Since most of the content on the iOS device that fills it up is video and pictures, install the Trunx app. Create an account and begin the process of uploading all your video and picture files.  Assure that Trunx has completed the upload.  At that point, all your images are stored safely off your iOS device. Then you can delete the files off of your device - some or all of them. I would start with deleting the videos and trying the iOS update.  While the files are stored in Trunx, you can view and share them easily with the Trunx app. After the update is finished, you can move the files back to your iDevice, as many as will fit.
