I’m not a an Employee. I’m a Franchisee. I don’t work for the Corporate Office. It’s a huge difference. I can’t think of any secrets. As Franchisees, we don’t brag much about our extensive community support. Does that qualify?

An agreement between store owners doesn't bind the employees. Have a look at the paperwork the staff get when they sign up. The law in most western countries takes a dim view of "restraint of trade" in this way. So long as the second location isn't super close (like next door, same block etc), the courts tend to say how is this affecting the business of the first employer? Still. Look at the paperwork, and call up a free legal advice hotline or job advice line.

I work at a Tim Horton's in Canada (judging by your question, your American), so the laws may be different. But here in Canada, at Tim Horton's you do get paid extra for working on holidays such as Canada Day, only if you have been working for longer then 3 months. Because durring your first 3 months, your on probation period.
