What Picture Did You Use To Get Motivated To Get In Shape

I am out of shape and have no motivation whatsoever what do i do?

i am 15 and i get out of breath walking up stairs. i know that's really bad..i'm not like obese its just that my body is not used to doing much. i have no motivation to workout. ill work out for one day then never do it again. i need help finding motivation to help me get in shape.

What motivates you to lose weight?

I have a picture of myself on the fridge from when I was thinner a few years ago. That makes me realize that I can get to that point because I have been there before. Then, I ask myself if I really need those cookies (or what ever it is you might like) and remind myself that I don't need the junk food more than I want to be in a size 7. Its all a mind game, once you take a few minutes to think about things before you eat them, you will realize that you really don't need to eat the garbage.

How do you motivate yourself to exercise ?

I exercise to what does appeal to me yeah (which is at home, on the weights, and going running).. but it's such an energy draining exercise! I do feel good after it, but only for like 20 mins, then feel like poo again. Not being big headed or anything :/ but i've got a good body atm, but struggle soooo much to sustain it and get the lower abs, no matter how much weight I lose or effort I put into my workouts. I get enough rest in the week to regain my strength, but that's where the problem is; I keep getting moments before a workout with a huge lack of energy, and just get overheated and stressed. Is it some sort of deficiency in minerals or vitamins in my body or something; or is it a mental thing ?

How can a person who was once very fit get motivated to get back into optimal shape?

Good News! There's good news for you. Do you remember that fit body from times past? Well, it's still there. No, I'm not BSing you. It really is still there, it's just covered up. Dig down a bit and there's still rock. You are so far ahead of someone who was never fit and now wants to get fit, that it is almost laughable. Man, if you can keep to it, your body will change a lot faster than dude who never was fit. You're friends are going to be in awe. People will be showering you with questions about 'how you did it?'. This is going to be one of the coolest things you've ever done. So, motivation? Good question. Once you get it going, you'll get so much positive feedback that motivation will be easy. But, how to get the ball rolling?I would say that the two things you should consider are joining a gym and having a training partner. Going to a gym means you are not fighting the immense gravitational pull of the sofa. Couch lock can be difficult to over come. But at the gym there is no couch - problem solved. Unless you have one of these on your sofa. In which case, home workouts are the way to go. Training partners will also help. They will, or should, give you a raft of grief if you don't show up. Both of these pieces of advice have to do with showing up. Showing up is way more than half the game. Here are a couple of answers that you might want to look at. Good luck on your journey. Need motivation to exercise?

Well believe it or not. Just over 4 years ago I was very overweight, extremely unfit, and also had high blood pressure.

Exercise was something I had never really participated in (apart from when I was a young girl at school). I just hated exercise so much and could never manage to keep going with it. Yes, I bought various exercise bikes, aerobic fitness/dance dvds. And all of them after a couple of weeks just put them away in the corner to collect more and more dust.

But after a family get together one afternoon. We decided to put on some old videos/dvds of when we were that bit younger. And one of them was when I first got married and the other was after I had my youngest son. Well I really could not believe how much I had changed.

This was when I decided to change my lifestyle. I set out to eat a healthy, balanced low fat diet with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. But secondly embark on some regular form of exercise. So I initially started walking at a fast pace. Around 3/4 times a week. For about 30 minutes at a time. Then after a few weeks incorporated a little bit of running into it. I kept this up and at around 6 weeks I was running without having to stop and walk.

I managed to lose 52lbs in just over 6 months. This has now just be over 4 years. I have since then been able to maintain my weight with ease.

I am now a regular runner. And run around 5/6 times a week. I started running at the age of 46 and I will be 50 in June. There is saying it is never too late. I can really vouch for that. I have run various marathons. I ran the Edinburgh Marathon, New York Marathon and London Marathon last year and I have also a place in the London Marathon this April too.

The benefits have been absolutely amazing. I feel so healthy. My blood pressed is not high anymore. In fact it is low. I have so much energy. Feel very confident.

Try to find an exercise that you enjoy. This way it will be easier to incorporate it into a regular routine. Make exercise part of your daily routine. Just as you brush your teeth in the morning, or wash you hair in the evening. 30 minutes 4/5 times a week is really easy to fit in.

Anyway, I wish you lots of luck and hope you have the success that I have had.
