What Retail Stores Hire Under 18 With No Experience

Would you hire a 15 year old with no experience?

It depends on the person.I would hire someone who is 15 at minimum wage (and I have before), but I expect professionalism. I’ve done many interviews with individuals starting out in the workforce. The ones that come out and physically drop off a resume, come nicely dressed, and keep a professional manner about them while they’re dropping off a resume and during the whole interview process are typically considered.Whether you are 15, 16, 18, 25, etc as long as you show you want the job, and are willing to do what it takes and whats required, and put full effort into it. Go above and beyond my expectations and succeed, I would give you a chance.I’m well known for not even looking at many online applications for certain positions - I don’t like lazy people. In my experience, someone who is willing to take the effort and go out and hand out resumes wants (and needs) a job more badly than someone who sends out mass resumes online.LinkedIN did an advertisement a few months ago about job applicants applying for jobs then going out having fun/spending day at a beach while their online resumes “looked for a job” for them. I’m sorry, but I would never hire someone like that. If you cant put the effort and come out and physically submit a resume, or make a really personalized email, or reach out personally and ask for a job — then I’m not interested in someone that cant do that. The qualities I look for in employees are that of people who will do what it takes, go above and beyond to get a job. It’s those qualities that I want while the person is working for me.Very few 15 year old’s now a days have that, but there are still some. If you as a 15 year old has qualities like that, even with no experience, then employers would be lucky to have you, training about the job is easy. But finding young workforce that are willing to work and put their full effort into it is rare. You can follow me here. I also blog about my travel and business experiences and give advice to entrepreneurs and start-ups.

Can I get a job in retail with no experience?

So I'm 18 and I've never worked before but I would like to get a job now. Could I get hired at a retail place with no experience? Places I would like to work are JC Penny, Michael's, CVS, Walgreen's, Payless, Target, or Hobby Lobby. I know a few of those places hire at 16 so it seems like they would take people without experience but I'm not sure.
I also have a few questions about working in retail (if you have the time). How are your hours broken up in your schedule? I only want to work 15 hours a week so does that mean I would do three, 5 hour shifts a week? Or do they just break up the hours however they want? Also, will I become a cashier right away (and will they train me) or will I have to do other jobs like stocking or something first?
Sorry I wrote so much but I really appreciate anyone who takes the time to read it and answer at least some if not all of it. 10 points to whoever can help me. Thanks.

How can I start working in a retail store if I don't have any job experience?

Getting a job in retail is pretty easy. If you’re of a legal age to work and have no criminal record, most retail chains will hire you.Where I work we employ people from age 16 on up. If you are under 18, there are legal limitations as to the type of job functions you can do, as well as the hours you are allowed to work. Most large companies now only accept applications online. They use third party software and businesses to sift through literally thousands of applications. If you get called or an interview, show up in clean decent clothes. If it is a higher end retail clothing store, your attire should be appropriate. For other big box retailers, usually a pair of khakis and either a button down or polo shirt. Many retailers do not discriminate based on any legally protected status (race, religion, gender etc.) But if you’re in the U.S. then being able to speak English well is a plus. The company I work for has a solid reputation for promoting from within, and a lot of different career paths you could choose. Our current store manager started out as a stockman in high school (pushing carriages). he continued working for the company right through college and has worked himself up from there.

What jobs will hire me with no experience?

Most of the time any restaurant chain will hire you without experience. I work at Logans Roadhouse and we hire servers, hostess/host, and kitchen staff all of the time without prior work history. They will train you. Also, a lot of insurance places will hire you without experience. If you are 18 or over Geico is a great place to apply. I hope this helps.

How to get a job with no experience?

Everyone's got to start somewhere.

Choose the stores you'd like to work in. Go in and look around and identify different jobs and functions there. Imagine yourself working there. Go to the company's website and do background check on the company.

Write a good application letter (there are many good models on the Internet - search in Google).

On the application write your skills and try to answer the question why they should hire you. What you wrote "i want to become more responsible and mature since i think a job would do just that" is great stuff - mention that as well as "I am quick at learning new things and eager to learn".

Then after sending the application, call or drop in. If you're really interested, someone will soon hire you. I got my first job at a department store because I walked in and said that "I really want to work here".

If you don't get the first job, don't be discouraged, learn from the interview and knock on the next door. With such a great attitude like yours, you are bound to get success. All the best!

Jobs for an 18 Year old WITH NO EXPERIENCE...?

Seriously,

Start volunteering somewhere like a hospital or nursing home even if it's only like 2 hours a week.
You can put that on a resume so it's not blank besides school.

Usually grocery stores are the best place to start off.
A movie store.
A store that you talk to the cashiers frequently like Claires, Toys R Us, a pharmacy, a clothing store.
If you know someone (on good standing) that will probably help you out a lot.

Just be honest and tell them that you have absolutely no experience, but you are willing to learn and that you're a people person. Tell them you are just looking for a chance to prove yourself and that they will not regret hiring you.

They will see your determination and genuine interest in the job.

What Stores Hire Teens?

most department stores, clothing stores in malls, and restaurants that don't serve alcohol will hire someone under 16 that doesn't have experience, especially around the holidays for seasonal help.

some call centers, if you have any around you, will hire people without experience, but it depends. ask around, and if there are any incoming call centers such as places where people call to order from catalogs, those are often good (or at least easy) places to work.

grocery stores may hire you without experience, but they often want people over 18 so you can ring up cigarettes and alcohol without someone else's help (at least in WV you can't handle alcohol under 18- it may be different in your state.)

normally requirements for these types of jobs are going to be pretty basic- if you have no work experience you don't have to worry about having been fired, which looks bad on your record. mostly they'll be looking at when you're available, how personable you are, and whether or not you have transportation.

just remember to take in two forms of ID in case they want you to do a W4 (... i think it's a W4 for taxes- might be the wrong number) normally a social security card and driver's license are what they prefer. make sure you have information for at least two to three references- with no work experience you can use teachers, a pastor from church if you go to church, or sometimes family friends. and also, even if you're just picking up an application, dress as professionally as you can.

good luck on the job search!

Would an Apple store hire someone who has no experience/little to no experience in technology? My parents seem to think otherwise. Also, I’ve only just turned 18, so I’m still in high school.

There is no specific educational requirements to work at an Apple Store. Just fill out an app - you just have to convince them to interview you.

What are Apple's requirements for their retail store employees?

I've never met a retail store employee under 18 years of age. It's a level of liability for Apple that isn’t worth the time and paperwork. If you're under 18 and you get hired, you have to have been an extraordinary candidate, and I applaud you.Apple wants people who are quick learners. You don't need to know anything about computers, you just have to be willing to learn. Typically, a high school diploma helps, as well as at least a little higher education.Apple hires its engineers without college degrees, so it would be silly for them to exclude retail candidates without one. The most important qualities are soft skills and intellectual horsepower, although if you're quick on your feet and a good talker, those skills will translate as the other two — and once you’re hired, Apple will value your political savvy. If you're not smart, but you're dedicated, you can do a great job. If you're not smart, but a good talker, you will probably do a great job. If you're smart, but you're awful at interaction, either look for a different type of job, or work on your soft skills before you apply. Empathy is key.
