What Shade Of Foundation For My Skin Tone

How do I figure out my foundation shade?

uwant to know ur undertone. do you have golden/yellow undertones, cool (pink) undertones, warm olive undertones, buff (a mix of yellow and beige) undertones, or beige (either neutral or a mix of both cool and warm) undertones?...knowing ur undertones will help u select a foundation color better.
its easy to spot undertones once u figure out the basics, then u can move on to figuring out all that i listed above...the most basics of basics is if ur warm, neutral or cool. buff falls under neutral for the basics and golden/yellow falls under warm...if u match warm colors like brown's, reds, rich greens, and oranges better, then your warm. if blues, lavenders, pastel colors and whites match u better, then your cool. if both work for u, then ur neutral.
test the foundation on ur jaw line...take a finger, dab a drop or two on the bottom of ur cheek right along ur jaw, match it to ur neck and chest.
also, since u have tried foundations already, its a good basis to work off of. if the foundation ended up looking so pink on u and makde ur face look flushed, then your either neutral or warm. of it looked very yellowed on u, then you are cool or neutral...the best thing to do is try a neutral next. if it makes u look washed out then u know if ur a cool or warm. if it matches u just right, then u know ur neutral. do not test it on ur hand or arms. those areas are often a different color than your neck and chest because they are more exposed to sunlight than the rest of u.
i find with bright soft lighting or in daylight, look at ur skin for the undertone...this chart helps the most i think though for those that dont quite understand still.

u can compare urskin coloring to the girls in the photos when u roll ur mouse over the shades under perfect canvas...it will tell u what undertones are in the girls skin.

Which shade of foundation suits for oily and medium skin tones?

Oily skin is a huge hassle, and I understand that it can be difficult to find the right makeup product. Everything wears off in a few hours, and your face starts to shine as though you took an oil bath. And even if you do find the right product, they’re all probably high-end and quite heavy on the pocket. I have oily skin, and understand this all too well. So, let’s say we help each other out, eh? I’ve put together some of the best drugstore foundations suitable for oily skin. How do I find a perfect shade of foundation that matches my skin when shopping online?

There are two issues when selecting foundation shades online:Whether the swatches accurately represent the foundation shades will depend upon how they were photographed.Every monitor displays colors differently. You can’t control either one. However, you can increase your chances of picking the right shade if you already have a couple of foundations that are the correct shade from different brands.Foundation color matching for MAC, Revlon, Makeup Forever and moreThe above link will take you to a website at which you input (preferably) two or more brands/shades of foundation you have that are good matches to your skintone, and then a list will be generated of foundations/shades from other brands that are good matches. It’s not 100% perfect, though. It’s more accurate than trying to judge shades based on just looking at swatches online, but definitely not as accurate as going to a store and trying different shades directly on your skin.If you do not have one or two foundations already that are good matches, you can try this:Foundation Matrix: Find Your Perfect Foundation ShadeThis website asks you to answer a series of questions, and based on your answers, will provide you with a list of foundations that should be good matches to your skintone, skintype, and personal preferences (finish/coverage/etc). However, like the website previously linked to, above, you should consider this as “better than” trying to choose from swatches online, but not as accurate as going to a store to try out different shades yourself. If you do decide to go with any of the recommendations made by either of the two websites I’ve linked to, I suggest you order the product from an online store that will allow you to return it for a full refund if the foundation you choose isn’t suitable.

Which foundation suits for wheatish skin?

The best way to find the perfect foundation that matches your wheatish complexion is to try three shades of foundations – one shade which is lighter than your skin tone, the second which is very close to your skin tone and the third which is a shade darker than your skin tone.Swatch the shades, one after the other on your jaw line and see which shade matches your skin tone. Try the shade which matches your skin tone on one side of your face to see if it accurately matches the skin tone.

How do I choose a shade of foundation or bb creme?

Picking the right foundation shade at the drugstore can be tricky, since you usually can't try them on. The best approach to picking foundation involves two things: understanding your own skin colour and undertone; and understanding a how companies name/number their foundations. Most people know whether they have fair, medium or deep skin, but many people don't know whether they have cool or warm undertones to their skin. Cool toned skin appears more pink, whereas warm toned skin has more of a yellow/golden hue to this. The pink or the yellow in your skin can be very subtle though. One easy way to guess your undertone is to look at the veins in your neck and wrist. If they appear blue, you are probably more cool toned, but if they appear green you may be warm toned. In general, the fairer your skin, the more likely you are to be cool toned. If you are still unsure of your skin's undertone, you are probably safe using a neutral shade. Why this is important is that most foundation shades use their names to describe their undertone. You'll notice that some foundations don't have names but simply codes (NC-10, N130, etc.). N, W and C usually indicate Neutral, Warm and Cool. NC and NW will mean Neutral Warm or Neutral Cool (undertones lean more warm or cool but is more subtle). The numbers that follow usually indicate how dark the foundation is (either 10 or 100 being the fairest). If you know you have light-medium cool toned skin, you are likely to match with a shade like NC-25 or C125.Now some foundations don't include this kind of coding, and in this case you have to look for hints in the name. Warm toned foundations might include words like "golden", "honey" or "sand". Cool tones will likely include words like "nude", "almond" or "buff". If you want to play it safe with something neutral, look for words like "beige"or "natural".Unfortunately, these are not hard rules and every company is a bit different, but for the most part it can help guide you when picking out a shade either in the drug store or online. If all else fails, make sure you keep the receipt. Most places are great with accommodating returns if they don't work for you.

Can you help me color match my skin tone for foundation?

At temptalia.com, she has a color match database which is called foundation matrix which is covering a lot of different comparisions of foundations and their shades!

http://www.temptalia.com/foundation-matrix (after searching for fit me 130, it looks your are warm medium, smashbox seems belong in same as well)

So according to it, their shade of those foundation you wanted a color match would be:
MUFE... hmmm one of these: 120, 123 or 125
MAC studio fix. N30

.... I guess? But I can be wrong. Its much easier to go the makeup counter and try the foundations out there (by testing it on your jaw line) to get a exact color match. But you can go for those shades as a guideline for shades to check out!

Anyway, at that database you can search for different foundations (go for warm undertone in medium since maybelline fit me 130 was in that category).

I can't recommend any specific since we probably dont have the same needs or skin type.
I would suggest that you to search for review of the foundation/tinted moisturizer you are interested in and try one who has good reviews (makeupalley.com is great for reviews). Personally, I would never purchase any makeup unless I know it has good reviews (like a rate of at least 3.5 of 5 or that more than 70-80% would recommend it).
review makeupalley <---- search on google like this (otherwise you have to be a member to look at makeupalley's reviews)

At Temptalia foundation matrix database, you check after the right shades and then test them on your jawline in the makeup counter(if possible, overwise, take the bottle and put near your cheek and opt for a slightly lighter shade since they tends to look a bit darker in the bottle) before purshasing any.

This is how I would do it. :P

Anyway, I hope this was somewhat helpful or made my explanation understoood. :-)

Good luck and Happy Shopping!

Should my foundation be slughty lighter than my skin tone or darker? ?

be careful either way. lighter can make you look pale, ghostly, and sickly, but darker can make you look almost "dirty" or something.
i would say if its close but not exactly right, go a tiny bit darker and just apply some powder the color of your skin over it to even it all out <3
