What Should Be Required Of White Men Today To Make Up For The Past

Does the White Man's Burden still hold some truths today?

The White Man's Burden was an extremely patronizing attitude that basically said anyone who wasn't white was a second class citizen and it was the duty of the Good Christian White Man to help them become a bit less shit. He could never actually make them as good as white people of course, that wasn't in their nature, but he could possibly help them become less savage and primitive by teaching them how to say "How Do you Do?" while the white man stole their natural resources as was his prerogative. Is there still a place for the concept of The White Man's Burden today? No. We've (hopefully) progressed to the point where we no longer believe we're inherently superior and those who aren't white are inherently inferior and always will be. That's not to say western nations shouldn't be helping other nations out if they need some assistance. We shouldn't ignore the plight of those who need help. But we should treat it as humanity helping humanity, not a superior race helping an inferior one because they'd be helpless if we didn't. We should also be working to empower people to help themselves wherever possible. We shouldn't just throw money at nations who need it, we should provide the resources for them to improve their economy. A wise man once said "Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, but rub him with a fish and he'll smell for a week"  ... okay it's possible I got that a bit wrong in the end but you see the point. It's also worth pointing out that in a lot of instances white people can be justifiably blamed for the predicament that some non-white people find themselves in. We shouldn't imagine ourselves riding in to save the day without acknowledging that our ancestors are possibly part of the reason why the day needs saving in the first place.

Do you as a white person feel guilty for slavery and the mistreatment of black Americans that has gone on in the past and, admittedly even today?

Most of my ancestors came from Germany by way of Bessarabia. The Kaiser (Germany) traded us to the Czar (Russia) to teach his people how to farm and raise livestock. My ancestors lived in Bessarabia (now Moldavia and Ukraine). They lived in the town of Teplitz. As they were able to grow crops and raise livestock they were given more land and more area to raise livestock. The Bolsheviks took over the People’s Democratic Party in 1903–04. They confiscated all the food and livestock. To quote Karl Marx “From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs”. The Bolsheviks determined my ancestors didn’t have any needs. First they were starved, then burned in their homes, hung by ropes or wires, shot. Exterminated along with the Jews because they were resented. They looked their money to give to the youngest families and they immigrated to the USA. They assimilated into the US. They enlisted in the national guard and chased Poncho Via into Mexico. When WWI came along they were persecuted by the locals who didn’t understand that they were Americans. Some volunteered to fight for their adopted country in Europe. When WWII came along they were again persecuted by the local because they didn’t understand they were Americans. They again volunteered and served in Europe and the Pacific. They were finally accepted as Americans. They mixed with the locals and contributed to the American way. This idea of paying retribution for slavery is a liberal progressive way of a politician getting his hands on your money. They collect $3 or more and have $1 or more administrative fees and pay out $0.50. Where did the other $1.50 go? Those funds were spent determining who should receive the money administered by the same folks that collected the money. The only ones compensated are the politicians. We live in the greatest country in the world. No one to my knowledge is going back where they came from. The sacrifices made to get and stay here was the admission ticket. Don’t give it away to those with their hands out. They will appreciate it when they work and sacrifice for it.

Can someone explain to be how the white race in the USA isn't being bred out and will be mostly gone by the end of this century?

White babies now make up 49 percent of babies being born inside the USA.

Non Hispanic white people make up 62 percent of the population today.

Though this is changing fast, especially how white babies are now in the minority in the USA of babies being born.

A large portion of the white population are elderly people, literally within the next 15 years the non Hispanic white population is going to go from 62 percent to 45 percent as 25-30 million older white people die within the next 15 years.

You have an ageing population with a minority majority making up the youngest age groups. The white race at least in America is on it's last legs, I honestly don't think white Americans will get out of this and I think they will simply cease to exist as a group. Only existing in America as mixed forms.

Should white people feel guilty about slavery?

You’re wasting your time - ‘collective shame’ and ‘shared responsibility’ (essentially what you are talking about) have a very weak presence in Anglo-Saxon culture (what I assume you mean by “white people”). Those are hallmarks of more group-oriented, collectivist cultures - Asian, African, and to a lesser extent, continental European ones. Speaking broadly, “white people” are simply too individualistic.Anglo-Saxon people are not going to be even able to relate to the very premise of your question, much less the ethics framework it’s imbued with, and as such there will always be a disconnect in the dialogue. You won’t even be able to reach the point of establishing a shared value framework, in other words. Without that, any communication is always going to be pretty meaningless. To be more specific - I never even think about “white people” as some collective, nor do I ever think of my own identity in terms of such a collective, much less what they should or shouldn’t do - and especially in regards to past historical deeds or misdeeds. So no I don’t feel any shame for the actions of people who have nothing to do with me.

Why have white people never apologized for their actions against slaves, Native Americans or minorities?

Why are blacks told to get over slavery, but Jews are revered for remembering the holocaust?

As a lover of history, I kind of detest this practice of shaming the son for the sins of father. This obsession with hating a certain period or a certain practice just gets way out of hand. Germans today spend so much time in school getting guilt-tripped for World War Two that they don’t even get to learn about the two-thousand odd years that make up the rest of their history. And it’s not just Germany. The entire world has an obsession with the years between 1933 and 1945. I’d charge you with asking your average college student to name five figures from German history not related to the Nazi period.Should we forget about the Nazis? No. But that shouldn’t impair us from remembering the Suebi, or the Holy Roman Empire, or the Prussian Empire, or the GERMAN confederacy and the GERMAN Empire. Germany is not Nazis. Nazis are not Germany. Modern Germans don’t need to apologize for the holocaust. In fact, I urge them to look past it because their history is as rich as it comes. Intellectually, culturally, politically, militarily, there is so much to German history, and no one knows about it because they can’t stop castigating Hitler for two seconds. And for slavery, yes you should get over it. I’m part Native American on both sides. My mother is black. My father is white. Most black people in America are descended from oppressors and oppressed (inadequate as those terms are). Slavery has been practiced all over the globe since the dawn of civilization. If everyone had to pay reparations for their ancestors enslaving someone else’s ancestors, everybody would have to pay everybody else. There’s something overwhelmingly petty about demanding sympathy for something your great-great-great-great grandfather experienced. Does racism still exist? Yes. Is that unfortunate? Yes. Does screaming about past injustices accomplish anything productive? Not really.

Why does Progressive internet host Kyle Kulinski think it’s a good idea to have a lenient border policy?

He wants to import refugees and H-1B visa recipients and brown people from all over the world because he believes white people have a duty to make up for their racist past. He doesn’t care about the massive demographic change the country is undergoing despite the fact that he is white himself. He thinks all races of man were created equal despite massive scientific research pointing to the contrary.
