What Should I Do About My Gauges

Do I take out my gauges when I shower?

I've had my ears pierced for like, 11 years. Nothing special, just 18g studs.
I put in 14g tapers last night, and there's minimal pain, no swelling, or any other bad things.

I'm about to shower, and I'm not quite sure what to do.
I guess I'm concerned about the o-rings coming off the back of the tapers while showering, or my hair getting tangled in them.

Would it be alright to take them out and clean them for about 15 minutes?

Thanks!

Um.. my gauges made my ear bleed?

You have something called a blow out. This is when you get too impatient and gauge up too quickly for you skin to handle. A blow out is when you force a gauge in your ear too soon causing tearing of the hole and in some cases you can actually push the inner part of the hole out the back. This often results in scar tissues and a more difficult and painful time sizing up in the future. Waiting a few weeks in between sizes isn't a suggestion. But going to quickly you are actually making it harder for yourself. In order to properly treat it you have to go done a size, wash it 2x daily, and do salt soaks for at least 2 weeks. and i would wait and additional week or 2 before trying to size up again.

Trust me don't try to move too fast follow the 2 week waiting time for sizes 16-8g, 3 weeks from 8g-4g, and a month from 4g and up. It seems like a pain but it will make stretching so much easier. I went too fast on my seconds and now I can't make them any bigger then 8g

My gauge fell out what should i do?

^ Um, yes you are?
Just put your 14g tapers in, put the plug in. Wait a couple weeks, stretch back to a 12g.

Also, gauge is merely a measurement. It's called a plug.

How do you fix a fuel gauge?

Most often the problem is the fuel level sending unit which is located in the tank. If you can find the wire and connector to it, a common check is to unplug the connector making an open connection -infinite resistance. Then short together the 2 wires -zero resistance, observe the fuel gage both times, it should read empty and full.if the gage works, you need a sending unit, in many (most?) models the fuel tank will need to be dropped down from its mounting to install the sending unit. BTW, do this with as close to an empty tank as possible!I liked my old Saab , those had an easy access panel in the trunk through which the sending unit or fuel pump could be easily replaced!Getting to the fuel gage in the dash is different on all the cars, often it is integrated into the dash unit and replacing the one gage can be a problem to replace alone. there are specialists that rebuild digital electronic instrument panels , one I dealt with is called Module Masters in Idaho.I would say, hope it is the sending unit! good luck.

Is bleeding normal in ear gauges?

Minimal bleeding can occur even in standard ear piercings, so yes, it's fairly normal. Just keep cleaning it and make sure to wait a while and let it heal very well before you try moving up another size (if you intend to).

The bleeding should go away in a few days. If it lasts more than a week or starts to pus and get swollen, then it's possible that its infected. If that happens, keep cleaning it well and see a doctor. Piercing infections generally clear up on their own, but be careful, because if it doesn't clear up you'll have to take it out and let it heal up, which can really mess with larger holes and leave your earlobe all lopsided.

I'm sure it's fine though, it sounds like your skin is just reacting normally to being stretched. I'd treat it like a cut for now.

QUICK! What should I do about my ear gauges when going swimming?

Are your ears completely healed? If they are, you can either leave them in or take them out. If not, then you shouldn't be going swimming! There is nothing wrong with swimming with jewelry in, as long as it isn't an organic material like wood, horn, bone, etc. Organic plugs will absorb water, causing them to swell or crack. Something like glass, steel, or titanium wouldn't be a problem. The only thing you need to worry about is your plugs falling out and losing them.

Why do my gauges itch? What can I do to make it stop?

I just stretched my ears to a 10g and its been itching. I don't know if it because im using the cheep tapers from hottopic or if im not cleaning them enough but I need advice!

When is it ok to take out newly stretched gauges, and how do I take care of them?

I couldn't understand everything you wrote. But you shouldn't use acrylic on newly stretched ears. Nor on healed ears for extended periods. Also, tapers shouldn't be used as jewellery. They're tools for stretching, and are not supposed to be made of acrylic.Alcohol is too harsh for healing piercings or stretched ears. Sea salt soaks are good.Always stretch with steel, titanium or glass, in a studio while on small gauges. At large gauges you should wait till it grows enough for you to put a larger piece.Patience and proper materials are the keys to not ruin your ears.About taking out the jewellery: Your ears start to shrink after you remove it. The longer you wait, the slower and the less it shrinks.
