What Should I Do About My Level 2 English Continue And Practice Or Quit The Course

Advice on Teaching English in Japan (JET Program)?

No, I haven't been to Japan yet, and I certainly don't plan on thrusting my way into this venture before having visited the country. My plan is to study abroad one or two semesters while at University, that way I can get a feel for living in the nation and decide if this is what I really want to do. With that said, I've read a lot about living in Japan, travel blogs, etc. And I don't feel that I'll have any real difficulties with assimilating. Like I said, I plan on studying Japanese, so my two biggest reasons for wanting to do this is to experience the culture, refine my ability to speak Japanese (I know that at work I won't be speaking Japanese, but I will while living in Japan), and gain teaching experience, all of which will be valuable assets for speaking Japanese in the states. I intend on going to graduate school after spending a few years working in Japan, by the way.

I'm 22 pursuing a chartered accountants course. I am not able to clear my IPCC (Inter) after four attempts. I am completely lost and depressed. I am not able to study or enjoy life. How do I make things right?

Hi I am 2012 CA , I hope I am eligible to answer your question. To give you a background, I was a meritorious student throughout my academics but CA :).I was able to clear uptill CA final everything in first attempt with good grades. But just before (5days)my CA final first attempt I got Jaundice and was then hospitalised. It took me 2 months to recover. Then it took me 4 attempts to clear my CA Final .why I am telling you this is to correlate to your position of miniscule and apparent failure, which it is actually not.I also felt at that time that having taken so many attempts to clear it will destroy my carrer.I will be a lesser CA who will be considered less preferred in interviews. But my friend in CA, it is only about the depth of knowledge that matters.once you reach an interview room then it is level playing field for all first attempters ,rank holders and people like me.After qualifying I got 2 jobs before campus.Joined the promising one.Within first year got another offer from highly reputed IT company in Gurgaon and another one which was Big 4.Joined the IT company. Now currently working in one of the biggest consulting and IT company in the world. So the question here is what mattered the most.1.Never give up attitude(I even did not start my bcom because I was convinced that I will become CA ,later on did it ) so make yourself conscious that YOU WILL BE A CA, NOTHING MORE OR LESS THAN THAT.2.While you are studying try to understand the concept and not mug up by saying "BAS EXAM CLEAR HO JAYE".You might clear exam but then its an open world which requires skill.3.Avoid coaching and tutors books as much as possible.since you had given multiple attempts i assume you would have taken enough coaching.Go into self study mode completely and refer to institutes 10 year question paper ,sometimes 15 year compiler is also available from institute only refer to that and not any private turor even if he/she is of national fame.Give mock tests yourself by randomly picking full subject question paper.4.Have General awareness and related passion.I had some research and knowledge about stock market which helped me a lot throughout.Read economic times and be updated about RBI activities,etc.5.Forget that you ever failed. If you would allow that to convince you subconsciously then it would be very damaging.Remember: Nothing great has been ever achieved without great suffering. So step up to this challenge called CA and come out as a winner.

How long did it take you to learn how to play piano (decent level)? What is your story?

I started piano at 13 and then I went crazy. I don’t know why, maybe I just have an obsessive personality, but I would practice 6–8 hours. I went to school for piano performance as well. Now I’m a teacher, blogger, and business owner.I didn’t get a teacher until I was 15. At that point I had already become comfortable with reading music. I wanted to play music my friends were playing, so I was working on Fantasie Impromptu and the third movement of moonlight sonata. The pieces were way too hard for me, but for some reason when I started with my teacher she kept me working on them.I’m actually grateful she did, because if she had moved me to music that was more on my level I probably would have not been interested, and quit. It took a lot more work but eventually I learned those pieces and worked on a lot of other music. After about 3 years I was playing some fairly advanced pieces, not that well mind you, but I was trying. I would say I was fairly decent after about 5 years. But remember, I was practicing 8 hours a day. I read probably a hundred books about piano technique, memorizing, pedaling, practicing, and anything else I could get my hands on.I had a practice plan that I wrote out every day, and I timed myself with a kitchen timer for each piece, making sure I put the time necessary towards each one. I video recorded myself (before good phone cameras) to make sure my physical techinique was right, so I wouldn’t get injuries. I bought hundreds of CDs of classical piano music.I fell in love with everything piano, I devoted every second I had to learning. It was quite the journey. It has changed my life.I recently wrote up an article about how long to expect it to take you to learn piano as well. Check it out:How Long Does it Take to Learn Piano?

My English is very poor. What can I do?

Dear Friend, This answer is going to be a bit analytical and uplifting. So, let's start with something very surprising.“ Everybody knows English. A lot of English... No Matter what!”So, what's different is of course… our size of vocabulary, capacity to hold conversations, ability to use it for a variety of applicable areas… and so on.Still Surprised? Don't be, yet!NOWLet's examine a normal day in our life and how penetrated English is in all of it:Get… Set… Go!AlarmPhoneTimeSnooze(Tooth)BrushToothpasteShampooTrimmer(Hair) BrushHair DryerMake-upTiffinBusCabDriverTicket“Change”StopSignalTrafficElevator/LiftFloorSchoolOfficeClassDesk/CabinTeacherBossMeetingNotesSyllabusWorkflowTaskAssignmentScheduleTimetableClientLoginLogoutAttendanceParkingLateComputerPenPaper“Leave”LunchCanteenCoffeePlate…. Enough is enough!English follows you…even haunts… no matter where you go!So, What's your point, Ahmed?Well, it's very simple and this:You… I… All of us… already know A Lot of English. An awful lot, I might add.Ok, ok… Agreed! What's next?Next is even simpler.Try to focus on two important things:Integrate more and more English into your life and lifestyleSlowly but steadily, shift the focus from our native language to English. Because, as a matter of fact, 60–70% of our daily thinking AND conversation is pure English! Now. . .A Digital Solution to DigiFans:YouTube is now full of short-films, Web series, and even many Episode ‘thing’.No matter what the parent language of such videos, every 3rd sentence, on average ,is in natural English. And, by the way, who wouldn't want to like our Mithila Palkar from Girl in the City?Anyway, a few such Youtube Names:Shitty Ideas Trending (SIT)Girl in The CityMensutra, the “Bang On” Channel!Sandeep Maheshwari.. sessions… and many more. . .subject to search! My Point:English is already integrated into our system of life and society in a great way. All we have to do now is … conciously and deliberately look for areas to expand it so that we become more and more comfortable with all of it.That way, the Weak-English become Strong-English…and Stronger become the Excellent-English… as simple as that!I earnestly request my readers to try this Methodology for a while and the result will definitely take care of itself.-Ahmed, The Curious Being.

Learn Esperanto will help a lot.

Crate training a whining, howling, crying olde english bulldog puppy, how do I make it stop?

We just brought home our second puppy, an 8 week old olde english bulldog puppy. He whines, howls and cries everytime we put him in his crate. We are trying to crate train him and taking him out for socialization etc. but he continues to do this everytime we put him back. We have tried ignoring him but it just gets louder and worse. We've bought books and have another 6 month old puppy, a bichon frise, who've we had training classes for. When we trained her, the books said to just tap the crate and she should stop, which she did. Now I am seeing people say to just ignore our whiney puppy but when we do, he continues to do it louder. We also take him out multiple times throughout the day and night yet he has had 4 poopy accidents in his crate since we've had him (3 days). Any advice on what we should do?

French vs Spanish vs Italian?

Yes, I do think you probably made a mistake in quitting Spanish. It may have been the teacher you didn't like, rather than the language, and it deserved another chance at the high school level. What was it you hated about Spanish, anyway? French, Italian and Spanish are very similar (I love them all), the main difference being that French is much harder to pronounce than the other two. By changing horses in midstream, it will set you back in your next language and basically throw away all the hard work you have already invested in Spanish. And when it comes time for college applications, "stick-to-it-iveness" is a quality that is much appreciated by admissions directors. If it's not too late, can you ask for a schedule change? Or at least make an appointment to talk to the high school guidance counselor about it and get some advice. What do your parents think about it?
