What Should I Do If I Take Too Many Antivert

Will antivert get rid of my panic attacks?

Oh John. I have anxiety disorder too. Antivert is for vertigo, or dizzy spells. It won't work. The anxiety is coming from inside your head, it's not a physical thing. It's triggered from even a fleeting thought you might not even realize you had. It's triggered by cortisol and adrenalin from you body. It's the same thing we feel when we are excited but you and me, and thousands of other people have turned that excitement feeling into fear. I have been taking xanax every day since 1995. With the panic attacks came clostrophobia! I got off the money, after seeing a psychiatrist that didn't help, to buy a program called "Attacking Anxiety" by Lucinda Bassett. I listened to each tape, one a week, over and over for that week, did the workbook, the whole 16 week program one week at a time. I was not able to drive, as I had my first attack while driving. I didn't want to leave home, or go to work because I didn't want those terrible feelings. I went to the emergency room countless times, thinking I was having a heart attack. After doing the program by Lucinda Bassett, I drove, went back to work, and learned how to push the anxiety away. Yes, I still take the xanax, but I fly, take vacations alone (I just took a cruise to the Bahamas alone, and went diving!!), drive, work, and even am newly licensed to ride a motorcycle!! I got more out of that program than I did in 4 years of therapy!! If you can afford it, I'd highly advise you send for that program!!

Vertigo treatment and medications?

Here is the info regarding the Klonopin. I think the worst has passed for him though and he is able to take the meclizine. I just wish it came in a shot form so he would be able to get it when he's throwing up. He is not close to me and I am not able to take him to the hospital. Truth be told his wife was sent home thursday to die and he is taking care of her alone. His request is to be left alone. If any of you pray, that would be appreciated.

Can ear wax build up cause Vertigo?

I was just diagnosed with Vertigo last week (after constantly having dizzy spells for a week and a half). The doc gave me some Antivert to take and it seems to be helping with the dizziness but I still feel a little off balance. I've recently been noticing that my ears feel clogged..like I have some wax build up in my ears and was wondering if too much ear wax in the ear could be causing the vertigo? My doctor never looked inside my ears when he diagnosed me and now I really wish he would have. I'm going to try to make another appointment with my doctor soon to see if he can do something about cleaning the wax out. Maybe that'll help?

Thanks!

Does cigar smoking lessen the benefits of taking Antiverts for vertigo?

I'm not a doctor but, I read a lot of anatomy books as a child. I would say stick to smoking cigars at ground level and you shouldn't have a problem.

How Many MG does it take to overdose on Meclizine?

How Many MG does it take to overdose on Meclizine?

Have had horrible undiagnosed nausea for the past 2 years. Meclizine is the only meds that help. Dr prescribed 2, 25mg tablets every 6 hours.

Since I have been taking them for so long I have built up a tolerance to them. Lately I've been able to take 2 along with some Maalox (sp) and it does the trick. But not today.

A few months ago I asked my doctor what the max mg I can take per day is, and he said to call poison control. So today I called, and she said since I'm already taking more than prescribed (5 in about an hour) she has no information for me. wtf?

Anyone have any clue?

I'm a White Female, 24 years old, 5'7 and I weigh about 125lbs.

Thanks to all who answers. :)

Can Ménière’s disease every truly go away or does it just go into remission?

The inner ear, which contains the hearing and balance organs, is filled with fluid under a certain amount of pressure. If the pressure that fluid gets too high you have an attack of Ménière's disease. A typical attack of Ménière's disease consists of four symptoms.:The affected ear feels stuffy or full. You get a hollow roaring sound in the affected ear similar to holding a seashell over your ear.The hearing in the affected ear falls off dramatically. You get a true rotational vertigo which is a spinning sensation like being on a merry-go-round. this can be very violent and cause you to vomit. After about 15 to 30 minutes the spell gradually goes away and everything is normal again. Over time with repeated spells, the hearing is usually lost or severely depressed. The dizziness spells may continue, ,but they can often cease as the inner ear structures are destroyed.Therapy for Ménière's disease is directed toward normalizing the fluid pressure in the inner ear. Some physicians prescribe medications like diuretics or meclizine (Antivert) but these often are not effective. There are a number of surgeries that can help Ménière's disease.A labyrinthectomy. a surgery that removes the inner structures, cures the vertigo but causes the hearing to be lost in that ear as well. This is chosen only if the affected ear has no useful hearing already. There are a number of surgeries directed toward installing a pressure-regulating valve or similar shunt within the inner ear. This has the potential to save the hearing as well as relieve the dizziness on a long-term basis. This is typically an outpatient surgery. There is also a simple office procedure that can be done to instill medication within the middle ear, the area behind the eardrum, and cause the inner ear to produce less fluid thereby lowering the pressure of the fluid. This can also cause preservation of hearing as well as permanent relief of the dizziness. While we don't know the cause of Ménière's disease people suffering from this disorder can almost always be helped. The people most familiar with the therapies for Ménière's disease are otologists. These are ear nose and throat doctors who specialize just in diseases and surgery of the ear.

Allergies and Dizziness?

Allergies can cause dizziness by affecting the inner ear. You would not be able to tell this from you outer ears being clean and dry, since this is a problem that is inside your head. There are some meds you can take which may help, like Antivert or scopolamine patches, but your allergist should be able to tell you about them. If you have not seen an allergist, you should if you can, since a general doctor may not be up on all the research.
