How well do rose bushes grow in partial shade and wet soil?

Yes…Floral..invasive..roses. Trying to get some land into a DNR program…and I am supposed to eradicate these invasive “PIA” Roses first. And I have more than several acres to clear…not just.. bush hog. Eradicate…You can dig out as many as you like…priced right too…free. They grow in the shade..not as densely…and in damper ground.Used in Eastern Kentucky as an “old school” moonshine still barrier and camoflage…the floral rose thorn hedgerow…

My lemon tree is 3 inches tall and has some Frost bite. The top half of the stem is shriveled and the leaves are wilted. Can I save it?

As Randall said, remove the frosted leaves, and cut back the stem to live green growth. Even though all the leaves might be gone, a green stem with buds can still sprout. It doesn’t sound like you live somewhere that citrus trees can grow outdoors.First, if it isn’t in a pot, dig it up, preserving as many roots as you can, and put it into a pot just big enough to fit the root system. Smaller is better than bigger; maybe all it needs is a 4″ or 5″ diameter pot. Use packaged potting soil (not garden “dirt”) that includes pine fines for drainage. Look for the place on the stem that was at soil level before, and be sure not to plant too high or too low.Second, give the plant a lot of direct sun—-not indirect light, even if it seems “bright”. Lemon trees like strong sun. If you don’t have a sunny window, put it in the brightest spot, and then use artificial light, such as an LED tube (or better yet, a 4′ long, 2-tube fixture), for a few hours in the evening. Put the plant a few inches below the tubes.Third, don’t overwater it, but keep the soil evenly damp. If it’s too wet, roots will rot. Water when the soil surface dries half an inch or so into the soil. As new leaves develop, you’ll need to water more often. Water until you see it draining from the bottom of the pot. Don’t keep water in a saucer.Fourth, keep the humidity on the high side. Loosely drape a clear plastic bag over the pot and around the stem, but don’t let moisture or heat accumulate. Be careful that the plant doesn’t heat up under a plastic bag while in the sun. Keep the temperature in the 60’s F or low 70’s.Fifth, if you started the plant from seed, consider the fact that the fruits, when they grow, might not be the same as those from which it came. It might be time to treat yourself to a nice ‘Meyer’ Lemon from the garden center.Good luck!

How do I grow radishes and tips?

I am growing radishes in the summer time in california and I have been on the internet looking up tips and I just can't seem to find any great ones I need. I purchased some radishes at the garden store and I placed some radish seeds in a 6 inch pot and a huge pot. I placed some water and put it out in the sun today. I wanted to know when do I add water to the pot? How much water do I add to the pot? Is it ok if the soil looks dry? The temperature is about 85-90 degress F. I am using a water globe for one of them. Also how often do I water the radishes. Please help I am willing to chat on skype

Can you grow a peach tree from a store bought peach (pit)?

Yup, it depends on how old the pit is and you'll also need the right amount of sunlight and the right type of soil for it to grow.

What happens if you add sand to garden soil?

I wouldn’t add sand to a heavy clay soil. Clay soil is nutrient and mineral rich but very difficult for plants to uptake them via roots.? Clay is dense has poor drainage and when it’s dry it becomes hard like concrete severely restricting air ration and becomes very difficult to get water to the plants roots. There was a time in soil managements history that sand and gypsum were recommended. The rationale was they would loosen the soil. Now when establishing a new garden or bed in heavy soil you should till approximately 8–10″. Then add 3 inches of expanded shale, 3–4 inches of compost and til the amendments in. Then top bed with 3–4 inches of a good shredded hardwood mulch. Mulch will naturally decompose and add humus to soil, so annual additions to maintain 3–4 inch layer is necessary. Mulch provides moisture retention, regulates soil temperature and helps in weed control.Expanded shale provides aeration to root systems. It’s like a popped rock full of tiny Air spaces. Compost helps to loosen soil, improves availability of nitrogen, minerals and microorganisms. Both facilitate. Improved drainage.
