What do I do? My child keeps gagging every time I give him whole milk.?
Hello, My one year old is not taking the switch from formula to whole milk too well. I've switched from the bottle to the straw sippy cup, so my ped. recommended I mix formula and whole milk for a while to get him used to it, but that didn't work. He seems to want nothing to do with the sippy cup, but I was told to get him off of the bottle asap. I'm not sure what to do. I was told by the pediatrician that he won't dehydrate if he's not sick, so not to give him the bottle. What does everyone think? They seem to think that he'll drink it when he gets thirsty, but like I said, he keeps gagging on the milk...I don't want to give him chocolate milk b/c i don't want him to get used to that. I'm stressing out here...any help would be great! Thanks, Amy
A child drank spoiled milk, how can this be treated?
Probably nothing to worry about - be prepared for possible vomiting or diarrhea. If these become severe, or the child develops abdominal cramping or fever, or if it lasts longer than a couple of hours and the child can’t keep down water, contact the pediatrician. The danger would be dehydration, if they aren’t able to keep down any fluids.Quora isn’t a really good place to look to for medical help. There are sites which specialize in this, but I would rather call the doctor’s office and get advice from the nurse or the doctor.Hope this helps!
My 2 year old toddler doesn't like milk. How can I get her to drink milk daily?
It has been a while since this question has been asked. Hope you get to read the answer. I had the same problem... I never liked to drink milk as a child. It was highly repelling and awful. My mother would force me to drink milk, and I would often have to swallow down with nose closed. Fast Forward 25 years. I am in University now, doing doctoral research at a reputable american university, and my peers are from almost every imaginable. I have witnessed first hand research results which clearly show that humans are biologically not made to drink cow milk. For that matter Cow/Buffalo/Goat Milk. Whatever the kind of milk, babies - human babies are not fit to drink milk. Not only milk has no serious significance on the growth and development, but also can be potentially harmful if ingested to a baby whose natural instincts and tastes repel / dislike it. Do you know that genetically monkeys, chimpanzees and humans have very same DNA strands and have similar natural eating habits - fruits, veggies, nuts etc. Man eats meat as he knows how to use fire... did you ever see a monkey or chimp drink milk from a Cow's udder? Never. Cow milk is for cow baby (calf) never for human baby. I cannot stress this more. Cow milk is chemically and biologically designed to support a herbivore animal to grow up from 10 kg to 200 -300 kg as soon as possible. Cow milk has hormones and enzymes that support the growth of its kind, not the human kind. On the contrary, human (mom's) milk supports the baby better to develop baby's immune system, and holistic growth. More here (The Nutrients in Cow's Milk Vs. Breast Milk Vs. Soy for Toddlers ). Thus it is fundamentally wrong to feed cow milk to toddlers as a substitute to breast milk. The baby's natural instinct are way better than educated adults. If you baby does not like to drink milk, I urge you to please stop forcing milk on to her. Your likes, whims and fancies are far inferior to how "natural" systems operate. The baby knows what suits her and accepts it, and rejects what is not good for it. You would be causing more damage by forcing unpalatable useless foods down her. Some adverse effects can be, but not limited to development of asthama (aggravation of phelm, kapha, vaata and pitta tendencies) gas trouble and bloating of belly. Let me know what you think.
Can pediasure nutripals cause allergic reactions?
My son has no known food allergies, he eats eggs, peanuts, milk with no problem. A rash developed on his body and then went away after discontinuing the drink. It may be coincidental.
Is milk good for Labradors?
I specifically asked my vet. Tone the milk down with lots of water. Use curd or paneer maybe once in a day. There are other sources of nutrients that milk apparently provides.Like for one of the two meals ( apart from breaker) , I boil the veggies and put some roti in it and use the boiled broth as the liquid. Mix this with an egg if your dog refuses to eat. The second meal is generally more animal protein like chicken or meat or egg mixed with let's say a potato. Again with chapati. And some bit of milk and lots of water. Since he usually doesn't drink water I add it as he is finishing the meal. The breakfast for him is the dog food either pedigree or drool which he happily nibbles. Don't spoil him with tidbits. Milk looks to be the most obvious easy food but its not especially in a bone heavy dog like a lab.
Similac Alimentum under 1 what milk is best over 1?
My DD was on Alimentum, but she seems to outgrow her milk protien intolerance by 1 year. Did you switch him straight over to whole milk, or did you do it slowly? Our doctor suggested doing it slowly to help with our DD tummy. It took us about 2-3 weeks to switch over. We started with 1/4 milk, 3/4 Alimentum for a few days, then did 1/2 and 1/2 for about a week, then did 3/4 milk, 1/4 Alimentum for a few days. She did fine by us slowly switching over. If that doesn't work for your son, then you will probably need to give him soy. How does he do with other dairy products like cheese and yogurt? ETA: If he doesn't have a reaction to other dairy products, I doubt it is a true milk allergy. I would go back to a very slow addition to whole milk to his formula.
