What Should I Do With My Horribly Curly Hair

What are some good hairdos for curly hair?

ts been 20 years that I'm living with these hair, mostly with a love hate kind of relationship. However it is true that you can't experiment with many hairstyle(apart from the usual braiding and ponytail) when you have thick curly hair. But different haircuts depending on shape of your face and your ability of pull it off, you can try the following :-1) Pixie cut/ Boy cut - Yes! This does work for curly hair very well. You can ensure if you want them to be in steps or not. And since your hair are curly it is obvious a boycut will give your hair a shape with which you'll have to live for months. So be careful here. 2) Diana cut - this is considered to be the hairstyle popularised by Lady Diana. Your hair length is obviously longer than the pixie cut here. So yeah. 3)Afro - again depending upon your hair texture this is a must try for women with curly hair. Better if you even get your hands upon the special Afro comb. I'm unsure about the job cut since curly hair mostly by default have that bounce and edge but  can consider that too.

Best box dye for curly hair?

There is no such thing as "best" anything. All things are good, but need to be used according to what you are wanting to do. "Dye" is only used on fabrics, and never on hair, although some people do try!

If you are wanting to darken your hair to be dark brown, then there are many products that will do that without damaging your hair. Any peroxide colour (where you have to mix two bottles together to get the colour to start working) would not be a good idea since the bleach/peroxide mix that is in every permanent colour does tend to break up your curls and weaken them.

I suggest using a semi-permanent colour. These work on the outside of your hair, have no developer or peroxide, and therefore do not last as long. They can only ADD colour to your hair and do not bleach your hair as permanent colours do. You can only get darker or deeper tone, but never lighter. They are much easier to use as well.

Most hair colour brands make a semi-permanent colour; be sure there is nothing to mix! Some last longer than others, depending on the type of hair you have, and how you look after it. There won't be that tell-tale line when the colour starts to grow out. You can re-apply whenever you need to.

I understand that salon colours can be expensive, but you are paying for their training and experience -- things you do not have and really need. See if there is a school nearby where the prices are much less, and they do good work, if a little slower.

HORRIBLY MATTED HAIR HELP!!!?

Ok this is what i do. I dont have insanely curly hair but i used to get perms as an early/teen lol it and it mats like a dog underneath (i do brush my hair but it it ridiculously thick) and i first off get a pick. If u have curly hair I know u have one! lol or a wide toothed comb. This isn't necessary of course (i dont use any) but spray on some l'oreal detangler... i used to love it .. i should actually get some more. Pin away hair that isn't in a "mat". I alternate between starting at the top, then going to the bottom and just loosely "picking" and pulling out slighly, not "brushing" it straight down. The mat will eventually loosen, and it will take time but you can do it. You might get a couple little tight ball of knotted hairs and u will just have to pull it out... i am assuming u have a tough head... lol most girls do. eventually incorporate the rest of the hair (i am warning u again u might have to be patient) and it will be frizzy as shite and go straight into the shower. use ur shampoo only on the top where its oily to lessen the stress to your ends and leave the conditioner in for a few minutes,.,.. i brush my teeth/mouthwash ect before rinsing.. make sure your ends are very saturated. Dont wash all the conditioner out at the bottom (wash out most of it.. leave like 5%) enough to keep the hair slightly "lubricated" when u slide your fingers through it (you'll know when u wash it all out.. it starts feeling like its knotting). Use some leave in condition while hair is damp and a bit of morrocan oil / monoi oil ect on the ends. Voila. Brand new. You can even do a hair mask, a home made avocado & honey hair mask (face too!) or hot oil treatment at some point in the shower.. the hot oil treatments work well too. Your hair will be "hurting" after the brushing so treat her well after :)

*** if u get tired of of working on it :on the couch:" type of thing then go into the shower, shampoo as normal and douse your head in conditioner and use ur pick or wide toothed comb and again work from top to bottom (is what they say for best extension care so i started doing the same for my hair) but it really helps to pick out the bottom too a bit to loosen things

How do you bring life back to dry, damaged, curly hair?

The answer to all this problem is "moisture moisture moisture". Curly hair is naturally dry hair so you have to keep feeding them with moisture regularly. Here are few things you can follow to keep it healthy and manageable.Keep your  hair well moisturized using good products that are silicone and sulfate free. Sulfates are detergents you find in shampoos and are a bit harsh for curly hair. It strips hair off of its natural oil and leaves it very dry. Silicone creates a film on hair and is hard to remove from hair. Heavy use of silicone products leads to build up on hair which do not let the moisture penetrate the hair. Due to this your hair gets dry over a period of time and loses its curl shape as well. Do not use any hair serum as these contains heavy silicone in more concentration. Use deep conditioning treatments at least once in a week. Choose products that has humectants in it for deep conditioning. Humectants absorb water and penetrate hair and retain moisture inside the hair.  Here are some homemade recipes that you can follow All natural home-made hair masks - Right RingletsUse cold pressed coconut oil to moisturize your hair and try to keep it overnight. Do not use heat on hair. Heat damages your hair cuticles and when cuticles are damaged then it becomes hard for hair to retain moisture as your inner layer is exposed and loses moisture fast.Protect your hair in the sun, wear cap or scarves. Do not use comb on dry hair as it might lead to breakage. Always detangle your hair in the shower after applying a rinse off conditioner. After wash, apply small amount of oil or whipped shea butter on hair after applying a leave-in conditioner. It helps to coat hair and prevent it to lose moisture very fast. It surely gives a moisturized curls.  Here is the whipped shea butter recipe Homemade natural shea butter moisturizer for hair and skin - Right Ringlets.Do not use styling products like hair sprays that contain drying alcohol like alcohol denat, SD alcohol etc. These short chain alcohol makes your hair dry. What is the best way to make straight hair curly (or wavy, at least) without a curling iron?

Anyone with stick straight hair that has tried to achieve curls will say… PRODUCT, PRODUCT, PRODUCT! But, there is another secret! Heat to cool, or wet to dry.Short styles that wish for a more polished look with curls may find that using a styling cream or gel and then rolling damp hair into rollers and allowing hair to dry completely – with or without heat – may produce just the right amount of curl and volume for their style. Someone with longer hair who may want a wilder, more natural looking curl could opt for applying a hair cream, foam, or gel into damp hair, drying completely with a hair dryer, and setting hair onto heated rollers. Make sure to set the rollers correctly to avoid kinks in the curl and to provide the curls with the right direction for the desired finished look. Then allow hair to cool completely. After removing the rollers, finger combing the curls into place will finish the look. A light hairspray to set the hair may be necessary for hair types that resist curl. One may also achieve this look using a curling iron or wand, but since the hair does not remain on the iron or wand until it cools, the curls may less likely to hold in more resistant hair. Those seeking a more permanent solution may opt for a chemical solution which, when placed on rolled hair by a professional, can give a semi-permanent or permanent wave or curl to straight hair. This process is only recommended to those seeking a permanent curl and wish to maintain this look every 8-12 weeks. This option is also not for those with skin sensitivities or delicate or damaged hair.

Curly hair gone straight after bleaching?

I had SUPER curly, short hair when I was little.. I started to grow it out in 3rd grade and because of the weight and length of my hair it became wavy..
Last summer around July I got it layered, but it went HORRIBLY wrong... All the hair from the top of my head to the tip of my ear were the same length(around my jaw, making my bangs and that whole section the same length, well not the SAME but.. close), and then the rest of my hair in-tacked(mostly).. ok.. no biggy I managed to pull it off somehow although it grows super slow(still is growing, but I don't have the guts to cut it short)..
Around December 30th I bleached(at home, with lemon juice and 3% peroxide) the underneath(the longer ones) layers of my hair, almost light blonde(from brown) it was damaged a little but I deep conditioned it and had a micro trim so it was much better.. after that my (bleached)hair was straight after I washed it and blow dried it(pin straight, although the top part, the one I hadn't bleached was a little wavy) , but it didn't alarm me 'cause I straightened it quite a bit the past month and my hair needs a little time to adjust ..but after so much washing, baths, showers, after all the hair masks, conditioners and all that junk I used to get my hair back to normal it's still straight.. HELP?! I don't want to hear "get it cut" or "go to a professional", I want to hear a way, method, what ever, using stuff easily found( 'cause I can't buy online, and I live in a country without stuff like walmart, the dolar store etc) to get it back to its original texture.. I'm getting worried and frustrated. help, please?

Do pure bred Golden Retrievers have curly hair on top?

I was walking my Golden in the park and another dog owner of a Golden asked if she was a full Golden Retriever. I saw my Golden's Mom and Dad when she was a puppy and both were full Goldens.
His Golden's hair was all straight. My Golden's hair is curly on the top between her shoulders up to her neck.
??? I thought she was full bred but I don't see many Goldens with curly hair on the top. I don't get her trimmed, I either have her shaved down for the summer or I trim her myself. Could it be that I don't get her trimmed?
Thanks.

How to get rid of bushy hair?

I'm trying to grow out my hair but it's growing up, not out. I have very frizzy thick horribly curly hair. I straighten my hair every few days and have tried hair relaxers. The relaxer worked for about a week and my hair is now dead and curly. And good natural straightening methods? Will my hair eventually fall back if I let it grow or will I just have a huge fro?

Straight Perm grew out...Top half of my hair is curly & Bottom half is straight?

PAST:
Long story short, I had nice curly hair- Shakira style- but was involved in a hair show. Outcome= Hair was cut horribly and bleached- the person who cut my hair obviously did not know how to manage curly hair. I couldn't keep my hair curly since it looked horrible with the style it was given thus I got a straight perm. The bleached parts of my hair were very damaged thus I let them grow out and I cut my hair into a bob.

PRESENT: My hair has since grown and less than half is straight (bottom) and the remaining upper portion is wavy/curly.
I don't know what to do with my hair. I want my lioness curly hair back but it seems as it's going to be a while before my hair is at a decent length. It is a bit past my collar bone.

I straighten it most of the time but I have found that to be quite damaging. I put mousse/hair creme in it but it's not the same as it used to. It seems as though the curly hair is now wavy and it's not cute.

Question: WHat can I do with my hair? any hair styling tips?
I usually have it tied up with a braid along the side of my hair but I'm tired of doing that. Thanks!
