What Should I Do With Photography

Why do YOU love photography?

I have only been doing photography for a year, but I love it! My friend got me into it, she wanted me to join a website with her so I did. I like the fact that you can capture a single moment or feeling in a single snap shot, and you start seeing more beauty and art in the world that you never noticed before.

What can I do with my hobby art photography?

Create a portfolio, visit coffee shops, and ask about hanging prints. Generally you want to create a seasonal set for the next-to-come season and try and shop that, since businesses like to echo the current season. You can also sell prints online. The hard part is getting your website marketed to a likely client. There is a lot of competition out there. Personally, I use SmugMug for any event photography needs, which has been working out fairly well.Look at entry-level stock photography agencies as well, if you want to go that way. But that isn't really for art photography; that's a different style. What are some good sites to sell my photos? Might also have some answers for you.

Is it legal to photograph banks?

I have included a link that should be helpful.

A bank is private property which means you can't go inside and do whatever you want - including photography.

Standing on public property (like a sidewalk) is diffferent. You can photograph anything you can see. You cannot obstruct other people while doing it, however, like setting up a tripod that gets in people's way.

Bank security might not like you making pictures of the bank, but that's too bad for them if you're on public property. They can't legally make you stop, you go away and they certainly can't take your camera or make you erase your pictures.

If confronted, take out the print of your rights from the link, below. Heck, bring two copies with you so any one bothering you has a copy to keep for themselves. Be friendly, smile, explain that you're a hobby photographer and this is a personal project to photograph the banks of your city. Don't act like a jerk. But be firm as well. You are free to photograph what you want from public property for your own personal, private use.

How should one start a career in photography?

What a great way to approach the subject. Caseri’s answer below is lacking any detail but OK.Photography, regardless of the discipline you choose is both a craft and an art. To learn the craft there are only two paths, one more complete than the other. The best is to find an “ACCREDITED” college or university with a good course instructor. Not one of the for profit schools like the Art Institutes or New York Photography School. They are not accredited so the diploma is as worthless as the quality of instruction (spelled rip-off). Also, not from any of the “self appointed” on line experts. They are worse. There is NO internet path to learn the business of photography. And it is a business. The diploma from a recognized school will open doors for you. The lack of a diploma makes your path much, much more difficult. The second path is to apprentice with a working studio. This is a valid but longer method to learn and both paths will provide you with background to be able to choose the area that is the most interesting to you.Photography is very diverse. There is fashion and commercial advertising, food, real estate, journalism and media, travel, fine art, and wildlife. Each has different equipment and expertise requirements.Find a good, basic camera with a good lens. My suggestion would be a Nikon D500 with a 24–70mm f2.8 lens or a 17 to 50mm f2.8 lens. The lens does not have to be Nikon. They are good, fairly sophisticated, learning instruments and very forgiving. There are others, of course.I would also recommend sticking with either Nikon or Canon. A qualified instructor will have knowledge of both and both have the widest range of accessory items. My advice: take lots and lots of photos. Work hard. Take more photos. Learn everything you can from as many people as will help you. If you master the craft and have the talent for the art, with that and some luck you will succeed.I do not know where you are located but at any time I am happy to answer any questions and so will any true professional.

My photography teacher is making me hate photography. What should I do?

I love photography, but I'm not a great photographer, and on top of that, my teacher makes me hate going to class. He picks favorites, and I'm not one of them.
I don't to give up photo, but my teacher really upsets me sometimes, and I don't know what to do about it.
Any advice?

A Photographer Said I Looked Like A Model!? Could That Mean...?

He's a friend of a friend. He's studying photography at the local college and he already has his own buisness. He was talking to me and i was just making polite conversation, and he said that (from my display picture) I looked like a model. I was flattered and said thankyou. then he said that he didn't mean it in a pervy way, but he's a photographer.

I wouldn't go to him and i don't know him and he's not very well established etc. But does that mean that modelling isn't something i should cancel out? I've always thought there was no point seeing as i'd never make it, nobody does and i'm probably not very pretty anyway. What do you think i should make of this? what should i do about it?

Here's some pictures of me:

The third one is the one he saw. Sorry they're bad but they're on my webcam.

What shall I do after 10th to become a photographer?

I know a boy who is in 9th standard and he is photographer. All i want to convey is Photography does not need any qualifications.See to learn anything what matters is your dedication! where there is will there is google! but yeah jokes apart! learning photography is not that hard .Initially there is lot of theory that you have to understand like about exposure triangle and about some basic rules of framing etc. i know these things are quite boring, but once you are done with that you are now free to rome around and take pictures. Now to understand these things you can take help of google or youtube[ tutorials on basic photography are availabe on youtube]! No one is going to serve you these things, you have to search it on your own!Ok now, see initially you can take pictures on your mobile phone, as now a days mobile phones are having really good sensors and are capable of taking good pictures even in low light.but yeah i definitely agree to the fact that after a certain period of time you need to buy a entry level dslr! dslr now a days are getting cheeper and cheeper. And it definitely costs you being a photographer! As after a certain period of time you have to have your own dslr[ mobile phn cameras have their limit]( with basic lens 18–55mm will work), you cant borrow a dslr everytime or cant take dslr on rent everytime!See its a one time investment! you dont have to change your dslr frequently! rather you can buy a new lens if you want.at last i want to conclude by saying in photography only ‘VISION’ is important it doesn't matter you are shooting on mobile phn or on a high end expensive dslr, what matters is that you should have good VISION and should keep learning day by day!Note-Never hesitate to take a photograph! you may be surrounded by a lot of people and they may even stare at you when you are clicking, but try ignoring them! offcouse its difficult to ignore people, but u ll learn this in course of time!Ps-sometimes even i hesitate ! but its fine! i m still learning! If you need more suggestions visit Amrit Photography | Facebook I’ll be glad to help!cheers:))
