What Should I Expect To Pay For Food At Walt Disney World

How much does it cost to get into Walt Disney World?

Tickets cost about $100 per person per day but buying 10 tickets wouldn't cost $1000 because Disney heavily discounts multi-day tickets.  For example if buy a 10-day ticket, the cost ends up at around $35/day so $350 total for the ten days.  They also have combined ticket and hotel packages.  If you have a family of four, stay in one of Disney's less expensive hotels for six days/five nights and go to the park five times during your stay, your cost is around $2,400 USD.  Add $1000 in airfare plus $600 for food and your Disney vacation in total would be about $4000.  That's the cheapest you can get away with.  Any cheaper and you would have to stay less days, drive, or live locally.  Now, all this being said, it's very worth it if you are bringing young children, and always bring your camera.  I wrote an article about this called Treasure Found in Disney World Videos.

I'm going to Disney World for the first time. What should I expect?

I'm 19 and on Saturday I'm going to Disney World for a week with my aunt and uncle. I've never been before, and neither have anyone else in my family, and so I'm not sure what to expect. What are things that I should definitely pack? What are the best rides in the different parks? At what times of day are the parks the most busy? And how much money, on average, should I expect to spend on food every day? I know that I have a lot of questions, but any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Do you have to pay for rides at Walt Disney World or is it just the entrance fee?

You only need to pay a ticket fee to access the rides at Disney World. However, there are a few things to be aware of.First, Disney World is made up of six different parks. The main four are Magic Kingdom (which is similar to Disneyland), Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios. Disney World also has two water parks (Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach), as well as a wide spread of resorts and other entertainment options. Focusing specifically on the main parks, there are several different ticket options available:Single Park Tickets - These give you one day or multiple day entry to one of the parks. With this ticket, you can access a park of choice, but not any of the others without purchasing another ticket or upgrading.Multi-Day One Park Tickets - These tickets are part of a recent promotion where guests can access to all four of the parks over the course of four days. In this package, you can only access one park per day, but you will get to see all four parks. Overall, it’s a good value.Park Hopper Tickets - Tickets with a Park Hopper option allow you to visit multiple parks per day. Particularly if you are visiting in the off-season, this can be great if you’d like to visit one park in the morning and another in the evening, such as spending half a day at Magic Kingdom then dining in the evening at Epcot.Once you have admission to the parks, you can access all the rides in that park (with the exception of any that are under refurbishment or rides where a member of your party doesn’t meet the height restriction). You will need to bring money for food and any souvenirs you want to purchase, but none of the rides charge for entry.Disney does have a number of “upcharge” experiences which are becoming more common in the parks. These are things like special parking, special buses, behind the scenes tours, and special seating events for fireworks that guests pay extra for. However, not doing these experiences won’t prevent you from enjoying the rides and entertainment.Enjoy this answer? How much should I plan to spend on food at Disney World?

Because of the variety of restaurants at Disney this is difficult to answer. I often budget $20/breakfast, $20/lunch, and $40/dinner. This allows for several fancy restaurants and some quick service. However, not everyone has such a budget and I sometimes can find this too low or too high depending on the trip. Please note that I have budgeted to do meals at Shula’s Steakhouse and Victoria and Albert’s chef’s table so my ‘budget’ is often on the high side. I enjoy dining at the various restaurants on Disney property and enjoy alcoholic drinks with most meals. If you are on a budget then doing a light breakfast (possibly in your room) may be perfect, do a lunch at a quick service to keep within budget will help and allow you to splurge on a nice dinner maybe even a character meal. Character meals are at breakfast, lunch and dinners but do require reservations. If you are part of a vacation club or stay at one of the cabins at Ft. Wilderness your budget can be easily tightened with many meals at the room on property. This can be a nice time to rest and avoid the heat of the day. When I first started visiting Disney with 2 small children and annual passes, we would eat breakfast at home/hotel room, bring water and lunch in the diaper bag/backpack and have some money for a small snack and/or plan on a nice dinner. Our costs were minimal.Disney does have a dining program that can help you budget if you choose to go that route. I in particular despise the dining program and feel it has diminish the quality of Disney dining. Yet, I hear many people like it and their food budget is already set.
