How do you watch dvds on netflix?
It is DVD only. You must have it delivered. If there is no option to add it to your DVD queue, you are not on the proper plan for that. It might be added to instant watching someday, but right now it isn't available to stream.

They cycle alot of movies from "instant srtreaming" to "Add to dvd queue (mail)" to "instant streaming" Whereas, those movies aren't available to watch now, they might be in a couple of months. To see only movies you can watch now, click "watch instantly" and browse the categories you want to see. The movies will have a blue square at the bottom that says "play" A Netflix user for almost 2 years
Watching TV show seasons in Netflix?
Up until now I've only used Netflix to watch movies. I'm trying to now watch a specific show from Season 7 of Law & Order SVU... When I go to the Law & Order on Netflix in my WEB BROWSER, I can browse to season 7, and see the show listed, and there is a play button next to it. If I press play it does start to play in my browser. (But I don't want to watch it in my web browser, I want to watch it on Google TV or Boxee) I've tried through both (Google TV and Boxee) and I can't seem to figure out how to watch anything other than Season 1. I must be doing something wrong. I'm normally quite a tech geek but this is really frustrating me right now. I somehow managed to get Season One into my Instant Queue, but I can't figure out how to add the other seasons... Thanks

For one simple reason: licensing.For Netflix to send a DVD via mail requires nothing; Netflix legally purchased the DVD Disc and can rent it out as it sees fit, or even sell it it to someone else if it wanted -- all with no license required.For Netflix to stream that same DVD, however, licensing comes in to play as one DVD can source ten, twenty, or a million viewers. The DVD license itself prohibits this kind of viewing (called public performance, even though it will end up in someone's home), and so Netflix has to work out something else with the copyright holders.Not every holder is amenable to grant such a license - either because they see it devaluing their other content lines (DVDs, etc.), or because they have an interest in doing something similar to Netflix. Which means that even though Netflix can legally, without a license, ship this movie to a customer on a DVD they bought, they may not be able to do the same thing via Online Streaming.
How many movies do you watch a month using Netflix DVDs by mail?
It fluctuates, but when I'm on my game I'll go through roughly 20/month on my 3 DVD subscription. I usually can get about 6/week if I watch them when I get them then mail them back the next day.Sometimes though I do get busy and don't have the time, that's when it usually dies down to zero. So for me it's a feast or famine situation. Right now I'm not watching them because I've been busy catching up on projects, but I'm nearly caught up so I'll soon be going crazy again. Probably starting back up in a few days.The DVDs are great because the selection is far superior to what's on Instant. Maybe the greater use is that when you receive the DVD you're not faced with an over abundance of options, it's "watch this DVD or send it back", and I've already gone through the trouble of receiving it so may as well spend 90 minutes to watch it. Whereas I could easily waste 30 minutes just deciding what to watch on Instant. Paralysis by analysis. Gimme the DVD.

I feel your pain, and I also do the same thing - rate movies I've just watched in theaters on Netflix - but because I have a DVD plan, this is available to me.I am not privy to the exact reasons why streaming-only customers are restricted from rating non-streaming movies. I believe you alluded to a possible reason: that your use-case is somewhat uncommon. Another possible reason is that although ratings are one source of information Netflix uses to recommend titles to you, what you've actually watched is a much better source. There are times when I've rated a movie poorly, but have willingly seen it more than once. Then there are movies that I rate 5 stars but won't likely watch more than once (documentaries about war or genocide come to mind).So my advice to you is to keep watching the types of movies and TV shows that appeal to you. I believe our algorithms will figure out your tastes quickly.
