What Software Should I Learn If I Want To Be Like A Software/business/data Anlaysis

What should I study or learn if I want to be a data analyst for a software company like Quora, Zynga, Airbnb, etc.?

When I was on the analytics team at Airbnb (2011-2012), we looked for the following:1. Research design/methodology - Ability to set up experiments properly, with careful attention to control groups and confounding variables- Knowledge of basic statistics techniques and concepts (regressions, ttests, significance, etc)- Ability to delve into open ended problems and find trends in huge sets of data- Understanding of all the caveats and complications of research without getting so bogged down in them that it takes months to get results2. Tools to manipulate data (programming ability, sql, statistics tools, etc)- Python, Ruby, or another similar programming language- R, STATA, SAS, or some other statistical programming language for analyzing data- SQL or similar querying/manipulation language, understanding of fairly complex joins, nested queries, etc- Excel can be useful but details can probably be learned as needed (personally, I don't think I've ever used a pivot table in my job because I use other tools to combine data)- Hive, Hadoop, etc. are really useful, albeit not essential for getting hired (but would mean a lot more than detailed knowledge of Excel, which I would assume any smart person could pick up as needed)3. Ability to interpret and summarize results broadly for technical and non-technical audiences4. Any other special skills, such as data visualization, machine learning, advanced statistical techniques, etc.At ClassDojo, we are at an earlier stage, and the data is in JSON instead of SQL, so there is even more need for everyone to program.  I spend 90% of my time getting data in place in Python before I can do any actual analysis or visualization (in Python or R).Edit: For a much more complete answer, you can view this curriculum that I wrote using free online materials:  Data Analysis Learning Path by Claudia Gold | SlideRule

Which is the best technical analysis software?

Since there are so many Technical Analysis softwares available like Metastock, Amibroker, Fibotrader, NinjaTrader, etc., can anyone tell me which is the most simplest to use?
I have heard that Amibroker is fast and powerful, but one needs to learn the AFL to start using it!

Is there any technical analysis software for a novice in which we don't need to learn some specific language or formula to start using it

I am looking for some technical analysis software in which we just need to upload EOD or RT charts and start analysing the indicators? Is there any such TA software?

In what order should a business analyst learn programming/analytical languages like SQL, R, and Python with no programming background (outside of Excel expertise)?

It is awesome that you want to expand your knowledge outside your comfort zone. I used Excel in college and it is great foundation to do data analysis, but if you want to make a bigger impact with your analysis, I strongly recommed you the following;Python: This will be your main weapon in all your battles (Learn it from scratch, I know that you will not be developing backend codes, but will gives you tools to get more insights out of your data set)This could take you like 3 months (3 hours a day, not including weekend) you will not be an expert , but you will have a solid understanding.Python’s libraries: Once you know how to write codes using Python, you will fall in love with its libraries for data analysis. These libraries can take you another 2 months.Pandas: Some people might refer to this one as the Excel for Python. Believe me that is way better for dataframe manipulation. You could extract, organize, sort, drop or whatver you want with some lines of codes (Excel files, csv, SQL and online data can be read through pandas)Numpy: This will help out to do your mathematical functions along with multi-dimensional arrays and matricesSeaborn or Matplotlib: Awesome libraries for data visualtization. Plotly is my favorite one though, but it takes more time to learn it.After 5 months, you will never go back to Excel for your data analysis (Excel will only be another file to be read through Pandas)

Free stock chart software?

Does anyone know where to get a really good free stock chart software in which you can do market anaylsis, trendline analysis, etc... And which one is the best one for use and contains most of the stock data. Thanks advance.

I want to download a free metastock software for that what i have to do?

Metastock is commercial software and is not "free".

The licence agreement in Metastock versions below v8 allow Metastock to be transferred. Therefore you may find Metastock for sale on auction sites such as ebay if you don't want to pay full price.

It can also be found for sale second hand on sites such as:

http://lightning.he.net/cgi-bin/suid/~re...
http://www.stockmeetingplace.com/forum/i...

A far cheaper alternative is AmiBroker which has more features than Metastock http://www.amibroker.com/
