What Species Of Plants Are Illegal In Oregon

Endangered Species Act??

Identify, define and discuss the significant provisions and operations of the endangered species act. Discuss inwhat ways the endangered Species act is unique in the area of enviromental law.

Is it illegal to shoot a robin in a residential zone?

Usually not, an air rifle/ BB gun is considered a firearm by most city ordinances and it against the law to discharge a firearm inside city limits. Other things considered firearms include bows, crossbows, slingshots, and spearguns. Not a full list.Additionally, Robins are protected species, songbirds are not considered pests. If you are having problems consult animal control. An just because you can not see a nest don’t assume there isn’t one.

Is it illegal to plant poisonous flowers in your garden?

You would be amazed at the number of poisonous plants growing in your neighborhood, especially If you add in the plants that are eaten on a regular basis and have poisonous parts. These include most peaches and cherries (I did see an apricot that is advertised as having an edible pit, but most fruit pits either always or sometimes contain cyanogens, which are compounds that turn into cyanide when digested). All of the nightshades have inedible leaves. Perhaps not highly poisonous, but they can definitely make you sick. The nightshades are tomatoes, peppers, potatos, etc. Most honeysuckles contain high levels of strychnine. Birds can eat the berries, but a very, very small handful will kill an adult and just a couple could kill a child. Poinsettas are not safe, diffenbachia leaves will numb your mouth or your pets mouth if even a small amount is chewed, and will kill in even modest quantities. Also many plants can be poisonous during a drought because they have nitrates or cyanogens in the leaves. These include corn, oats, and many grasses. These are not much of a concern to people, because the grain never contains those poisons.Grains and peanuts can be poisonous if they have certain kinds of fungus growths. Ergot in wheat and rye contains a chemical related to LSD. Aflatoxin is made by some molds and can cause miscarriages, as can ergot. If the USDA, CDC, and the FDA were not funded adequately, there would be people getting sick and never knowing why. Not to mention the unexplained spontaneous abortions. Oops. Off topic.

Is it legal to pick wildflowers in Oregon on gravel roadsides?

Not an Oregon lawyer, but I’d say the answer is no. See Oregon Revised States section 564.020(2); “It shall be unlawful for any person in this state to willfully or negligently cut, dig up, trim, pick, remove, mutilate or in any manner injure or mar any plant, flower, shrub, bush, fruit or other vegetation growing upon the right of way of any public highway within this state, or upon public lands, or upon the land of another, within 500 feet of the center of any public highway, without the written permit of the owner, signed by the owner or the authorized agent of the owner.” The gravel roadside would be part of the right of way, and I doubt the “public highway” has any meaning other than a public road, but I did not research that.

Is it illegal to keep a Octopus OR Squid as a pet?

Take it from a person that has had one. OK first off just to let you know octopus are in in the family cheplaopod there is no breed of octopus called a cephalopod. Don't get a squid, as they are extremely easily frightened and are not suited for captivity, even in the largest public aquariums its rare to see a true squid. Octopus are good escape artist, but with proper precautions they can easily be maintained. The main problem with octopus or any ceph is that they require very expensive food (normally live) feeding an octopus on a monthly basis will cost you around $20-$40. Another thing is that cephs only live for a year or two max and sense the octopus is caught in the wild there is a good chance the octopus you get is already half way done with its life. The blue ring octopus is not the most poisonous animal in the world. There is a difference between organisms that are venomous and those that are poisonous, two commonly confused terms applied to plant and animal life.
* Venomous, as stated above, refers to animals that deliver (often, inject) venom into their prey when hunting or as a defense mechanism.
*Poisonous, on the other hand, describes plants or animals that are harmful when consumed or touched. A poison tends to be distributed over a large part of the body of the organism producing it, while venom is typically produced in organs specialized for the purpose. One species of bird, the hooded pitohui, although not venomous, is poisonous, secreting a neurotoxin onto its skin and feathers. The slow loris, a primate, blurs the boundary between poisonous and venomous. From patches on the inside of its elbows it secretes a toxin, which it is believed to smear on its young to prevent them from being eaten; however, it will also lick these patches, giving it a venomous bite. And the blue ring octopus are deadly if you are bitten by one, but they are not the most venomous or poisonous animal in the world, so please if you are to post information please make sure its correct. I recommend you try and find some good books on the care of octopus and also reed the article on the care of cephs in this years Fish and Reef Magazine. Cheers Max

Edit: Not all octopus are venomous, so don't worry about that just watch out for the blue ring. You can buy octopus on many online marine fish stores and your local marine pet fish store can order you one.

Which legal drugs contain a large amount of DMT?

The plants with more DMT in them are Mimosa tenuiflora aka Mimosa hostilis, legal but illegal if possessed with the intent of extracting DMT; Acacia phlebophylla and Acacia obtusifolia (again legal, but…) and Phalaris aquatica aka Phalaris tuberosa, a common pasture grass known as “Harding grass”. All of them are easily extracted with an acid/base extraction but Mimosa hostilis/tenuiflora is easier because it contains no fats so you can skip the defatting process and go with a STB (straight to base) extraction. Extracting DMT is ILLEGAL in all countries which signed the 1971 convention on psychotropics. So basically all the countries in the world except a few (where probably they cut your head or give you a live sentence just because you are dealing with an exotic or non-orthodox/haram substance…). Good luck and STUDY WELL YOUR LESSON BEFORE TAKING THE EXAM!!!

When driving through Oregon to California I was stopped at a checkpoint and my car was searched, why?

I did give them permission to search when they asked. They told me that " I was selected for a random search" and then asked "if I would have a problem with that", I said "no, go ahead man", and the whole search took about one minute. They just looked in the trunk and waved me on my way. I'm not looking to sue, I just wanted to know why california acts so weird basically.
