What Stone Do I Use To Take High Spots Off A Metal Surface

What stone do I use to take high spots off a metal surface?

I am in maintenance on CNC machines and see many guys using stones to stone the metal surface of say, a motor, before they mount it to make sure there are no high spots and the motor face sits perfectly flat. What type of stone is this they are using? Its pretty small, rectangular, maybe 3-4 inches long, an inch thick, 2 inches high.

Why does Marble feel cool to the touch even though the surface is at room temperature?

When I read your question, I was looking for an answer on internet and I came across http://www.comparerocks.com/en/w...The reason behind this is, the specific heat capacity of marble is quite high and hence it absorbs heat from the ground and surroundings. Marble is a hard stone and has dense structure and hence it becomes easier for marble to absorb heat from warmer objects. This heat dissipates through marble quickly and the marble floor feels cold. Is it worth hiring a professional to seal granite and stone in new home or do it myself?

Definitely a DIY job -- we did a kitchen remodel recently, and sealing the granite counters was included as part of the install. But as he was applying the sealer, the installer said "You don't really need me to do this. When it's time to reseal, just get the sealer and do it yourself".

The process is-
-clean and dry the slab
-use a clean cotton rag to wipe on the sealer (old t-shirt works great)
-let it sit per the instructions
-wipe off any excess and buff
-keep it dry for 8 hours
-you're done

How do you get rid of efflorescence on Pavers/Stones?

My steps were built using Rinox pavers and I've got alot of efflorescence on them. The contractor told me that this was a normal process from the concrete curing process and that it goes away after a short while. It's almost 3 years later and It's still there. Does anyone know if this is going to go away or how to treat it. I find it so unattractive everytime I look at it.

Thanks
