Do Trump supporters think the GOP is right to be frustrated over Flake's vow to oppose judicial nominees or is Flake right to demand a vote to protect the Mueller probe?
This picture summed up my opinion of Jeff Flake forever:It was everything I don’t like about the man. Weak. Snivelling. Cowering before two random ladies. Flake had reached the right decision on the Kavanaugh vote: he’d vote yes because there was no conclusive evidence against the judge. But two women shouted at him in an elevator so he did what Jeff Flake does. He changed his mind and subjected the Kavanaughs to one additional week of hell.Think of it, there are many other senators these ladies could have confronted. Why didn’t they confront Graham? Why didn’t they confront Sasse or Scott? Why didn’t they confront Corker or Gardner? They confronted Flake because they know who he is. Just as you and I know who he is.Now Jeff Flake has Jeff Flaked again. He’s holding up the nomination of qualified judges over a bill that’s probably unconstitutional. Why should Robert Mueller be immune from normal political oversight? And why should innocent judges pay the price for Flake’s mistrust of Trump?This bill will run into constitutional problems if it’s passed. Article II of the Constitution clearly gives the president the authority to fire “inferior officers” of the executive branch. But the bill will only allow Mueller to be fired by a Senate-confirmed DOJ official for “good cause”. Also, the bill will let Mueller appeal his firing to a federal judge which a) makes little practical sense b) raises questions re separation of powers. If they pass this bill and SCOTUS strikes it down, there will be uproar all over the country. McConnell is doing the right thing by blocking the bill and preventing a crisis.Flake isn’t doing the right thing by blackmailing his fellow senators using judges. It’s a futile gesture because he’ll be gone in about a month. Is this really how he wants to leave? With the contempt of the entire Republican party? I hear he’s plotting a 2020 primary challenge to Trump. Well, good luck with that!The GOP is right to be frustrated by this man. Perhaps he thinks if he kneecaps Trump and the GOP long enough, liberals will like him. He’ll be able to unite the country and bring back peace and harmony. Pfft. January 2019 should come quickly so this man can exit the Judiciary Committee and the national stage.UPDATE: Habib Fanny just showed me a podcast where Jeff Flake says that it was Chris Coons, and not the elevator ladies that changed his mind. Bad things about the Republican or Democrat party?
First, I don't know why you want to tell your family they're ignorant. I disagree with my family members all the time about politics and everything in between, but I have no desire to tell them that they're wrong or stupid or ignorant. They're your family - respect them enough to believe that they have good reasons for what they think, even if you don't agree. Second, you don't need to tell them anything about your belief system. You just want to get into an argument. That's what the internet is for, man. Be immature to people you don't have to eat Thanksgiving dinner with. Third, you sound incredibly naive, uncertain, and even ignorant yourself about not only politics, but what you believe. If you can't come up with your own arguments about why you think Democrats are smarter or better, then perhaps you should think a little harder about that. Fourth, there are many more ideologies than Democrat, Republican, and "Independent." Just add this to your list of information you need to research.
