At what time should we go trick or treating?
Check your local newspaper. Or just Google it. Most cities or townships have set hours for Trick-or-Treating. Back in my day, we went out as soon as it was dark enough for porch lights (which was earlier because the time change used to be before Halloween), and we would stay out until the porch lights were all turned off (which was around 10 p.m.). Now days, in concern for the safety of children, most Trick-or-Treating hours are set ridiculously early. In my county, the times vary from 2 to 3 hours, although some smaller cities still have no set times. In my particular city, Trick-or-Treating is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Basically, if someone has their porch light on, that means they have candy.

Do I take my 16 month old trick or treating?
I took my daughter out last year she was about 17-18 months and she did great other than quitting early for sleep reasons and I felt weird walking her around and her not being able to say thank you and what not at that point but nobody looked at me weird. This year my son is going and he will be the same age as your daughter. Just becareful of the bigger kids being pushy and the scarier houses. we avoided those last year for obvious reasons.
Should I go trick or treating alone?
Halloween is my favorite holiday and I honestly hate that I have nothing to do this year :/ Every year I went trick or treating (1-12 with family), (13-18 with friends). Last year I didn't go because I had nobody since my best friends from high school went off to far away colleges. I spent my Halloween alone in my room, it was my worst Halloween ever. I'm 20 now and really don't want a repeat of last year. I ended up crying honestly. I don't have any friends by me and Halloween is one of my days off from work next week. I was thinking about going trick or treating but I honestly feel a bit weird going alone. I definitely do not look my age tho, everyone mistakes me for 14 or 15. I have no parties to go to (no friends duh) and I'm too young to go to a bar or whatever. :/

I always go when it starts to get dark OR whenever you get your first few trick-or-treaters if not around 5-8pm but I usually start around 7
