List of items I should bring to Army OSUT at Fort Benning?
Leave the contacts at home and wear the glasses till you get your BCG's cause during BCT you will not be allowed to wear them. Also you will not need the q-tips and cotton balls. Razors, you may not be able to bring on the plane but you will be able to purchase at the PX once you get there. Vitamin C drops will be contraband and be thrown away (no candy type items in the barracks even saved from the MRE's). Keeping the foot cream and lotion will be at the discretion of your DS, but more than likely will be taken with your civilian items and be locked away. 3 sets of white underwear and 6 pair of socks. But the rest, black shower shoes, bar soap (in a plastic case), toothpaste, toothbrush, combo lock, stamps, pens and pencils, envelopes are good. I would buy a larger note book to use cause you will need to make notes and plus you will have paper to write letters on. But you will be given a chance to buy stuff you might need and forget to bring while you are in reception. They tell you not to bring your cell phone but a lot do. If you do it will be locked up, but when you earn phone privileges, it will be given back for short periods of time so you can text or call family and friends. But if you don't want to take the phone you can either take a pay phone card or purchase one at the px.

What is it like at Ft. Benning?
It's o.k. Not my favorite place to be, because it's so far away from a real city. (And that city being Atlanta was NOT by cup of tea.) I never had a problem with people being rude at the hospital. Actually, I've found them to be very helpful. Maybe your friend was unlucky enough to find the rudest person there, you never know. (Or if this person had repeated problems... maybe this person is just rude and people were reacting to her?) Since it's a large post, there are a lot of MWR activities for children, so your seven-year-old will enjoy that. On post families send their children (until H.S., anyway) to post schools run by the DoD.... a perk that most domestic posts don't have anymore. Overall, not bad! Good luck with your PCS!
Rules for running shoes for Army OSUT at Benning?
Looking for some info on whats allowed, I know Vibram 5 Fingers are NOT. I read that I will be required to buy a new pair regardless of what I bring. Any info on this?
How hard is basic training at Fort Benning (11B)?
Basic training is pretty easy as long as you keep your nose clean. Just keep in mind that the drill sergeant wont know to mess with you if you don't get his radar. In the first week on Basic training, you will be given a diagnostic PT test. This test will tell your drill sergeants how hard to work you, and what area to work you in to get you prepared for the final PT test at the end of basic training. You will spend the first week going threw alot of classes, and briefings. During the second week you will start doing to actual training, and within the second or third week you will do your first field exercise (first exercise is two days, one night). During the FTX (field training exercise) they will teach different maneuver drills and tactics, along with some rules of war. After that you will go into BRM (basic rifle marksmen ship), where they teach you how to fire your M16A2 rifle. After you qualify with your M16 you will go indo ARM (Advanced rifle marksmanship) which will include firing the M2 .50 cal Machine gun, the M240 and the M249 SAW along with the M209. Keep in mind that every Morning you will be conducting PT, running, push ups, sit ups, pull ups etc. Also somewhere in the middle of all the chaos you will be ran threw the gas chamber, where they make you take off your mask and slightly suffocate in the gas chamber, they do this so you can get to know the feeling. After ARM you will have another FTX, 3 days two night, you will have a few very long ruck marches (8-12 miles) along with some more battlefield focused training. Finally you will have your final FTX (7 days 6 nights), and your final PT test. During the last week of basic training, you will begin cleaning all the equipment that was issued to you to use during you're time there. you will clean the barracks, and reherse for graduation. Like I said before, just stay out of trouble and you will be fine.
Are there Girls at fort benning GA army base?
Not only are there female soldiers there, but also family members of soldiers. Plus, there's a whole city outside the gate that is full of women.
