What To Do About Broken Toe

What can you do for a broken big toe?

I just did that to mine a little over a month ago.
They took a metal bar with padding on it, then taped that to the big tow and then taped the other end near the middle of my foot down, and then there was a third row of tape that held my big tow and second toe together. And then another row of tape below that that ran all away around
You should have it xrayed - if its broken certain ways (i.e. across the top) you might never walk right on it again.

Either case - it will take 4-6 weeks for it to stabilze before you can use it without "staying off of it" as much.
Mine still hurts frequently

How can you treat a broken toe?

Depends on which toe is broken. If you've broke say your pinky toe (5th metatarsal), you can buddy tape it to the toe next to it (4th metatarsal).I recently fractured all 4 toes on my right foot and completely broke the 4th toe.At Walmart I found a strap used to straighten crooked toes and used that as my way of buddy taping two of my toes.Walmart also has these sponge like sleeves that you can cut to fit of which I used to slide over the other injured toes. This provided support and protection for the toes not tapped together.Your feet will never be the same after breaking a toe and you will be more susceptible to injury in the future.Ice, elevation and rest are crucial and the last piece of advise is get some Epsom salt and soak your foot 20 mins in the hottest water you can stand 3 times a day then run the toes under cold water afterwards.Continue using Epsom salt it has amazing healing qualities I can't stress that enough!

Take him to the vet as soon as possible. Even though it might seem otherwise, your rabbit might be in pain.

How do you treat a broken pinky toe?

There is no real treatment for a broken toe. The best thing to do is (using medical tape that can be purchased at any pharmacy) tape the broken toe to the toe next to it. This will offer stability to the broken toe. Keeping your foot elevated and using ice will also help with discomfort. Take ibuprofen if you're able.

Dancing with a broken toe?

Has it been X-rayed? If it still hurts after 2 weeks, then a) it's probably broken, and b) it's probably misaligned and not healing.

"not going is not an option."

No, it's not an option. It's a necessity. You will be at the hospital instead.

How can I treat my cat's broken toe?

Cats are amazing healers. If the toe is in place and the neighboring toes are unbroken the choices are to either leave it alone or to have a splint placed by a vet.If the fracture is not displaced (the pieces are close) I usually leave them without a splint but try to have the owners confine their activities for 4–6 weeks. In severe cases where toes are way out of placement they may need to be stabilized with a pin but usually, for that to happen, there’s a lot more trauma than just one fracture.

When should you see a doctor for a broken toe?

A2A. Well,I’ll only answer for what I would do, and what I know to be most commonly done. And I am very sorry for all the pain, as toes are painful little buggers. If it is broken, most likely it will be taped together with the toe next to it. It will be swollen and painful for a while. You have a tiny toe, that’s been injured, that is probably filling with some fluid from the damage, and that contributes to the pain.Your feet are at the end of your venous circulation, so to speak, so swelling in the lower legs and feet take a little more time to resolve. Gravity is at work. Therefore, propping your leg up as much as possible should help somewhat. Icing it should help. An ice pack, a ziplock bag of ice, or a bag of frozen veggies, with a cloth wrapped around it, over your foot should be of some help. Don’t leave it on forever. 20 minutes on 3–4 times a day, with your foot elevated. If you have an over the counter analgesic that you’re not allergic to, such as ibuprofen, taken as directed on the label, over a period of time should help. It’s best to take the drug over a period of time, instead of just taking it when the pain is unbearable. That should also help with inflammation.Walking on your foot will hurt and putting a snug shoe on will hurt. But if you feel like you’re not getting anywhere with resolving the pain and swelling, you can take yourself to the doctor. I hope this gets better for you soon as I know the feeling.Just a note. The color will more than likely go from gray to deep purple.

What to do about a baby chicks broken toe?

I just picked up some baby chicks today, and when i got home one of them has a bent toe. I dont know if its broken, or if its genetics. Her other foot has the normal looking "W", but on her other foot one toe is bent the wrong way. My questions are... Should i splint it somehow? If not then is there something else that would work? Is she in pain? (she runs around like the others) and last.. If it doesnt get fixed, is this something that will cause issues later? I dont know if i should let it go, because if she was born with a defect, then trying to repair it might hurt her since its formed this way. She a pet, so breeding and passing on a genetic flaw isnt something i would do. You help and advice is greatly appriciated.....LEBE
