Bad taste in mouth after wisdom tooth extraction?

I had all four wisdom teeth extracted last Thursday... except for the first day or two, I have been brushing my teeth (gently), rinsing with salt water, and using an alcohol-free mouthwash, several times a day.
But my mouth still tastes like something crawled into my mouth, took a crap, then died.
I presume there is some dying tissue or something... is that normal?
What else can I do??

How painful is the tooth extraction?

Personally, I didn't think it hurt very much. Quite frankly, the horrible cavity I had was WAY worse.

I think the worst thing about it is the sound. That's the only part that freaked me out. It mostly just feels like pressure once they numb your mouth.

The healing does suck a little bit, but as long as you take good care of it, you'll be fine.

Bad breath after tooth extraction?

Hello..What your experiencing with the bad breath issues is ,more than likely just the healing process...During the early healing process the extraction wounds create bacteria and those little
critters can and do cause foul odors...Rinse gently with warm water containing both salt and baking soda....once you rinse "do not" final rinse with clear water..you want residue from the salt and soda to stay behind. I wish you well..The Denture Pro.

Cosmetic Dentistry: When can tooth extraction be a bad idea?

Many people still believe tooth extraction to be an unnecessary and dangerous procedure. Owing to my personal experiences, however, I can assure you there’s no ‘danger element’ involved and it is a very important procedure to go through in order to avoid a number of tooth-related complications down the line.Understanding What Tooth Extraction is:Tooth extraction is the removal of tooth or teeth through a stooth extractionequence of procedures. Before extracting the tooth out from the socket, your dentist will check how badly it is damaged. There are two types of extractions:1)Normal Extraction:The tooth is systematically extracted by the dentist. First, the area is numbed, then the tooth is loosened using an ‘elevator’. Finally, it is pulled out. This is a quick, easy and reliable method of removing badly infected or damaged teeth.2)Surgical Tooth Removal:This process applies when the tooth breaks off whilst it is still attached to your gums. Or the damage done by cavities becomes extensive and starts to affect your gums. Under those circumstances, the dentist will have to manually cut the surrounding gums to remove the tooth fragments which are still attached. The benefits of tooth extraction:The benefits of tooth extraction are numerous and everywhere it is the most recommended procedure by dentists to recover from cavities and infections. Here’s why:Missing teeth can cause chewing problems. You have to switch chewing sides so that the affected area isn’t damaged further. Getting your tooth extracted helps do away with this nuisance entirely. If you’re experiencing pain due to tooth decay, extraction will instantly subdue all pain and discomfort. The affected area needs to be treated immediately as not doing so may lead to further dental complications such as gum diseases.Getting your tooth extracted will not only eliminate all pain but see you enjoying good oral health and hygiene over the years. If you’re still not satisfied with understanding why tooth extraction becomes crucial under certain circumstances, visit at ETOMS | East Tennessee Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery - Knoxville, Maryville and More.

Okay to use Listerine after Wisdom Tooth Extraction?

no no no! no alcohol based mouthrinses for the first few days after having a tooth pulled. Warm salt water is all you need. The alcohol dries out your mouth AND can dry up the clot that is forming in the socket. If it dries up and/or falls out, you will get dry socket. So hold off on the listerine for at least a week.

What causes bad breath after wisdom teeth extraction?

There are a few of reasons for bad breath after third molar removal. One is that the basic brushing and flossing suffer. There is a plaque build up and an increase in bacteria. This increases breath odor. As an aside, the cleaner the mouth, the less the bacteria, the faster the healing process. The second reason is that food debris falls into the healing sockets. This is a major cause of the bad breath. The healing of the socket is from the bottom up. This leaves a concavity behind the second molar that easily traps food for week to ten days. The use of an irrigation syringe and salt water rinses will help to keep the food debris at a minimum. The last area that causes bad breath is in the healing process. There are parts of the clots that are being lost. These have dead blood cells in them and that cause order.I would shy away from commercial mouthwash for a while. These tend to be a little strong. You might dilute them but don't replace the salt water rinses with diluted mouthwash.

Can I take out wisdom tooth extraction stitches myself?

I had my wisdom tooth taken out a week ago and the dentist is closed so I was wondering if it would be OK if I just cut the stitches and took them out myself. I would just wait until my dentist is available but, food has been stuck in the stitches and when I tried to rinse/pick the food out I accidentally pulled on the stitches and now they are loose and it seems that the food is actually stuck onto the stitches. I can't take out the food without pulling on the stitches they seem to be intertwined. I know it may not be a safe, but is it possible? I mean wouldn't it be the same at the dentist? All I'm going to do basically is cut the stitches and pull them out. Was just wondering if this is a completely ridiculous idea or not....logically it doesn't sound like a bad idea unless I'm missing something that dentists do that I'm unable to do.....
