How do I potty train my 8 week old puppy?

I havent had a pet in so long, I don't exactly remember how to potty train.
I have been taking him out every hour or so, after every nap, morning, and right before bed. What do I do if he still has an accident indoors? I have pointed it out to him and told him no, and took him outside just to tell him go potty, although he just went.. I am kenneling him at night, so we don't have any accidents. (which makes a really long night for everyone). Any other suggestions on how they trained their pup, that may be better then mine?
A friend said those training pads were awesome. I have never heard of these. What do you think of them?

I am having a hard time potty training my basset hound puppy. She so smart but hard headed.?

Buy a package of Wee Wee pads and follow the directions.

They work great, and house breaking is a painless process.

Simply place Wee-Wee Pads (plastic lining down) on the floor near where puppy is being kept. The scientifically treated Wee-Wee Pad will attract your puppy when nature calls--and the housebreaking habit has begun!

When your puppy's training is completed indoors, begin the out-of-doors training by placing the Wee-Wee Pad outside of the house (on breezy days the Wee-Wee Pad can be kept in place by weighting the corners). Your puppy will again be attracted by the Wee-Wee Pad that is outside. Within a few days, when the proper training habits have been learned by your puppy, the pad will no longer be needed.

Wee-Wee Pads are easily disposed of in the trash.

How do you potty train puppies who can't go outside yet?

Training a puppy to pee outdoors AND pee pads?? Bad idea?

Hi there,
I am getting a puppy and have been reading like mad on how to potty train your dog. However I have ran into a dilemma..

My dog will primarily be an indoor dog however I will take it outside to pee and teach it to wait by the door when it needs to be relieved... But at night when I am asleep, the dog will sleep in my room (I have door which leads outside in my room too)... But I was wanting to train it to also go to the toilet on a pee pad (especially when it's night and I'm asleep so it can relieve itself without me opening the door to outside).

Will it be too confusing if I try and take my dog sometimes outside to pee and sometimes to the pee-pad during the potty training stage which I would leave near the glass door to outside?

Should I just stick to teaching it to pee outdoors OR the pee pad?

Thanks in advance
