I want to become a makeup artist

Hi! Id recommend you go to a school. like some people have said, you can start before you finish high school in some places. but DON'T do that INSTEAD of high school.
I went into a makeup artist's school when I was 16, and believe me, its really fun... two years later I havent finished high school but I will soon, I homeschool, so thats how I could do both things at the same time.
I am starting my own business now, which I havent done earlier because I was too busy with school. but now is the time :)
So, yeah, go to youtube.com and there are tonnns of tutorials which can give you an idea before you get started. Not all of them are good professional techniques though. I recommend you look for Sarah Victor, she's a girl who has the coolest makeup videos Ive found. I dont know her, but I love her tutorials, she does use good techniques, and a LOT of color! the only thing I would change, is that she uses too much blush sometimes. But, besides that, shes really good. Michelle Phan is another name with good videos.
Anyways, I say you go for it, PRACTICE is very important, even if youre not a makeup artist yet, try to practice on your family and friends, as well as on yourself, as much as you can. Look for makeup in magazines, and if youre truly passionate about it, you'll be looking at everyone's makeup trying to determine what they are wearing.
Once you begin studying, you will have to invest kind of a lot in materials, remember that quality in your products DOES make a difference. Of course Id recommend MAC, and I use another brand that's really good but they only sell it in Mexico (where I live) and if you want cheaper but still colorful eyeshadows, try NYX.
Well, I hope this helps, and remember, when you become a makeup artist, that self-confidence is VERYY important!

ohh, and VISION, you need to have a vision for the future, no matter how ambicious it is, you wont get anywhere without a vision. Dont be an employee for the rest of your life! My advice is for you to work freelance, and make your own business! it may seem difficult at first, but believe me, employing yourself is not the ultimate goal! You really can make your dreams come true if you ask God to help you and work real hard...

How do you become a makeup artist for the WWE?

Yes, if you watch some shoot interviews and all that; you will see sometimes the women talk to the camera while a makeup artist is working on her at the same time.
I would do internet research (especially for the main office number) and call them. Be persistent and prove you want the job. If you are into makeup, also get some pictures of some of your work and send it to them.
Good luck on it!

How Can I Become A Professional Makeup Artist

Okay, I am a college student in louisiana, and I want to train to become a makeup artist outside of school. Iwas wondering a couple of things:
1. Do you have to have a license because the Louisiana board of Cosmetology dosent offer licenses in Makeup artistry. (Esthetician yes, but just makeup artistry?..no)

2. If a license is not required to become a makeup artist, then what documentation is required and obtained to be considered a professional makeup artist?

3. besides beauty schools, where else can you be trained for makeup artistry?

4. I've heard of online licensing programs (i dont know how legit that is), but since i stay in louisiana, who dosent offer makeup artistry licenses,, is it possible for me to obtain one in the online programs that are in other states

4. what is the process of becoming a professional makeup artist (tips, etc)

Do you need a license to become a makeup artist in CA?

Well like your parents always said... you need the paper to show you're legit. Go to school and just do it.. plus you never know what new things you might learn and maybe specialize in something else.. beauty make-up, glam make-up, and even prosthetics.. if you want to make good money you would take a masters makeup program. I plan on going to Cinema makeup school in Hollywood to do just that Check out different Makeup Schools to see what really fits you... and yes you need a license because you need to learn how to sterilize things and how to do certain effects.. you want to actually know it not just do it. You also need a business license etc.

What should I know before becoming a makeup artist?

You should know people are going to bring you photos and say “I want this!” They will be adamant for certain looks that may not be appropriate for the event they are attending. Or for styles of makeup that will not look the same on them due to eye coloring, skin tone, etc.People will also be surprised by what you charge. For some reason, people will assume you will do their makeup for free at first. Kindly remind them this is your job and that you are doing them a service not unlike getting their hair done or eyebrows waxed. Would they expect those services done for free? No.Always bring more brushes than you think you will need. There's nothing like grabbing a brush you usually use for setting powder and seeing it covered in blush because you decided to mix up your routine the day before. Bring along brush cleaner for sure.

How do I become a makeup artist in the K-pop industry as an American/foreigner?

I need to answer this question with another one?Do you know the difference between Korean and Western style makeup?^ That is pretty close to what you'll be expected to do. Male or female, they don't ever go over the top, unlike Western makeup. They try to pull of a sweet, natural look. Cute and innocence sells. It's extremely rare for a group to ever get makeup done like this. I don't think that many idols get this kind of look done. Examples, I guess are soloists with sexy concepts like CL or Jessi. It's a sexy look but it leans towards Western standards. So I hope that you don't go with the confidence that you can do Western style as much because what they're looking for is pretty much the picture of the girl above. Cutesy sells in Korea so that's what I would focus on more. Even if you're going for a boygroup, their sexy concepts aren't too over the top- just nicely blended dark eyeshadow and eyeliner to make their gaze seem fierce. Also, learn Korean (the obvious). You'd either need to be some next level make up artist to get the job otherwise. And even so, it makes it harder for them so your chances decrease. It'll take time but patience winsAnd last but not least, don't be too picky and go with the dream of becoming BTS' or EXO's makeup artist just so you can woo them or such. Not accusing you of anything like that but there are some fans out there. Be open minded and start wherever you can. Hopefully, you'll gain a lot of rep and be able to climb up the ladder.Hope this helped and I wish you good luck in your future!

I want to be a makeup artist but...?

Hello, after I got a makeover by a Shiseido makeup artist at a local pharmacy I've wanted to become a makeup artist. Problem is, I've never really worn makeup and don't really know how to apply it and what all the different brushes are for. Im 16 by the way. I like art and enjoy photography. No makeup school or courses where I live, its a small city. I don't look like I could be a makeup artist actually.

I brought a makeup brush set (link below at what Ive got). I dont know where to start! Please help!
