What To Do When Male Betta Isn

What to do when male betta isn't caring for the eggs?

I need help once again. Many have helped and they have been helpful. but I have come across another problem. My male betta destroyed his neat except the part that had eggs. but I got home from work and decided to check on him. I found most of the eggs on the ground! He isn't attending to them! What can I do and there's a few floating without being in the bubble nest. What can I do? please help it's only my first time breeding Betta.

Why isn't my Betta male making a bubble nest?

Why isn't my Betta male making a bubble nest? I tried changing his water, putting the mirror in front of him, changing the water temp, etc. He was in another tank and saw the female, and immediately made a bubble nest. Next morning, WOW! Bubble nest! But I moved him to the 10 gallon tank and put in the female (They were separated by plexi glass, though) and he made a small bubble nest, or was it bubbles from the tank? but started to loose interest. When I put another male in (They were also separated, and were not side by side), both will not make a bubble nest. They haven't noticed each other either, and only focus on the female in the middle. The tank I have is square, and the tank that the betta male made the bubble nest was round. Is it the shape, or am I doing something wrong? He keeps flaring, but that's it. And my females pregnant with eggs, so I want to breed her soon. What's wrong?

Why did my male betta eat all his betta fry?

I have a male betta that I just bred and he has been taking care of the betta fry for a while now but when all the betta fry started falling from the nest he couldn't keep up with all of them. In the morning they were all gone. I am guessing he ate them because I have no other explanation. Why did he eat them?

Help my male betta is eating the eggs!?

I have lots of bettas and have bred many of them successfully. Now I'm having trouble with 2 of my male bettas. After the bettas bred and i take out the female the male betta eats all the eggs. I can see this because his belly grows bigger and then the male doesn't take care for the bubble nest. A few days later the bubble nest disappears and there is no fries. I've fed them good before breeding and i've tried many times. I'm sure the eggs were fertilize. Is there anyway to prevent the male betta from eating the eggs?

My male betta isn't interested in my female?

my male and female bettas go along together great. Except when she tries to go to his favorite corner right next to the heater :) I don't know much about this pair since I decided to buy from petsmart than from a breeder and I can't age them. But I've bred bettas before and I know she is plump with eggs. She follows him everywhere until he chases her away eventually and then after he loses interest in chasing her, she's following him again. She doesn't fight back and she's albino, so I can't see if there are any bars. BettaTalk doesn't seem to have the answer so I'll ask here. What can I do to get him interested? I realize he might be too old T.T

And please, no in your face answers, I'm tired of people trying to sound professional but they're just being know it alls >.>

Male Betta fish attack female betta fish?

The best way to stop the fighting is to sepperate the fishes. Since you don't have any other tank at the moment, just put her in any large enough size container like a tupperware contaner. Try to get the new tank as fast as posible.

Another thing you can do is feed them live foods. Because live foods are a live, they don't just float. Instead they swim around, so the female betta can just eat the closet live food to her instead of having to got to the surface. You should add a lot of plants.

The best way is to sepperate them into a different tank.

Why is my male betta not ready to breed?

Aside from properly conditioning a fish with live or frozen foods for a month or so before you attempt breeding, and properly, safely introducing the fish, the male also has to be interested in the female that’s offered to him.Fish can be surprisingly picky about their mates & Bettas are somewhat infamous for being really picky about them. If the female does not appeal to him, he won’t mate with her. And if she is not interested in him, same thing. And lots of fish need practice. They may fail badly their first few times. They may get it all wrong. If they keep trying, eventually instinct usually wins out. But there are no guarantees. We can’t force fish to mate. And there can be problems we can’t even see that might result in a fish not being able to mate. Not all genetic issues are visible and in many fish, inbreeding causes a host of potential issues. It isn’t all cut and dried, even if you do everything right.

Why do male and female betta fish fight in the same tank?

Because Betta fish are notoriously aggressive--they don't call them Siamese fighting fish for nothing. That being said, how well Bettas live together really depends on their personality. While I would never put a male Betta in a tank with any other fish, even a female Betta, I have heard of sorority tanks where female Bettas have lived together quite peacefully. However, the success of these tanks was mostly due to the fact that they were big--Betta aggression mostly stems from territory, so having lots of space and places for them to hide is recommended when setting up your tank. They can get some time away from each other, and maybe they'll get along.Maybe. Again--the Betta is just an aggressive fish. I get a lot of questions on here asking about keeping Bettas in tanks with other fish and if the person can do it, and while some Bettas are relatively peaceful, it's just... really not recommended. Your Betta isn't lonely; it would prefer to be alone. So even in a peaceful sorority tank, the female Bettas would not be getting anything out of each other's company. If you are trying to breed Bettas (or are just really dead set on having them in the same tank), place the female in a bag and float her in the male's tank. That way, they can get used to each other and you can monitor their behavior without any fear for their safety. If you notice aggressive behavior you can pluck the female out and walk away the wiser. Do not put them together without first experimenting like this.So yeah. Bettas. Keep 'em safe, keep 'em separate. Don't try to force them to be something they're not.

Can 2 male betta fish live with a female in the same tank?

For the two males, if you sectioned it off, you could keep them in the same tank but they can't see each other. You can not however put a female and male together in the same water even separately unless you are going to breed them. The only exception to that is if you make a massive tank with lots of hiding that mimics their natural habitat, you could put the bettas together (but I would still recommend against it)

Is it necessary for male betta fish to mate?

It isn’t necessary to breed a male betta for him to be happy. He may make bubble nests in preparation, but he will not feel sadness or disappointment if he never gets a mate. In fact, betta fish do not benefit from the companionship of the opposite sex like we or some other animals do. Their courtship involves physical bullying and fighting, and can only be attempted by very healthy fish. Then afterwards, the male is not even supposed to live with the female, and she is removed quite early into the childrearing process. Eventually, even the male is removed from duty because he will attack his children once they are old enough to look like a threat to him. So quite the contrary, mating is a stressful process for betta fish that may result in physical harm to them and should only be attempted if you are planning to sell the fish, for they can create hundreds of fry (baby bettas) from one spawning. You will likely not be able to keep all of the baby fish that are generated by the breeding, as they also fight each other once old enough. So, in conclusion, the male betta will not be upset if he never gets a girlfriend. They are too much work and the relationship never lasts.
