What To Do When You Dont Have Your Contact Lenses Case

I lost my contact lens case, what can I put my lenses in so they wont shrivel up?

do you have your contact solution? if you do take little cups (like the kind you gargle with) and put your solution in them and then put your contacts in.

....i read what you said. you must of not put enough solution in. you need it to fill it up pretty high. also, it might be because of evaporation, so in that case put something on top of the cup.

When it's not in use, should I leave my contact lens case open or closed?

I always tell my patients to leave their cases open to air dry.  It goes with never wanting to reuse or 'top-off' solution and having fresh solution to store your lenses everyday. Topping off solution and reusing solution has in the past been responsible for blindness and disease from Acanthamoeba and fusarium infections. The best practice is to dump out all of the remaining solution after removing your contacts and leaving the case open but face down to dry.  This will limit your risks of potentially blinding diseases.  Also be sure to replace or disinfect your contact lens case every one to two months.

How long can i keep contact lenses stored in the lens case?

Depends:
1) If you do not open the lens case
2) What solution you use

Most solutions like "Complete", "Renu Multi plus", "Oxysept" permit you to leave solution unchanged upto 30 days if you do not open the case.

I haven't used my contact lenses for months nor changed the solution. Is it okay to use them now?

Most MPDS solutions allows safe storage and disinfection ONLY up to 30days. Beyond that DO NOT wear lenses as they will be contaminated.Generally what I've always recommended is change the solution every few days to about once a week eventhough lenses are worn infrequently. This way there is no chance of contamination. If you change the solution frequently they can be stored indefinitely. Make sure you are using a high quality clean lens case that seals well. It's only safe to store lenses longterm in a leak proof case. Seal titghly during storage.I only ever wear my colored lenses once or twice every two months or so and they last me about 6-8months.

In contact lens cases, over night do you leave the cap on?

ingnore answerer #2...NEVER put water in your contact lens case! Tap water has lead and other chemicals in it, and you obviously don't want those chemicals in your eyes....

Leave your contacts in their case overnight (or when you don't wear them), and then when you are wearing them, rinse off the inside of the case with some of the Lens Solution (whatever brand you use) and leave it open to dry. Once you are going to use the case again, rinse off the case with some more of the Lens Solution to rid it of any dust that might have gotten on it, pour that solution out, pour more solution into it, and put your contacts in it.

Do I need to clean my contact lenses?

Daily Contact Lenses - No cleaning requiredIf you wear dailies (that should be thrown away after a day)- You don’t need to clean them as you remove them straight from the contact lens packaging to your eyes.Monthly Contact lenses - Cleaning needed in 4 StepsRemove it carefully from your eye (I recommend to use the “precision pinch”)2. Fill up your contact lens case with the the multipurpose solution3. Use your grip to place your contact lenses in the contact lens case (no-rub? No rub unless they are visibly dirty. For example if you can see traces of mascara or hair fiber on the contact lens)Hope my answer was helpful for you.

Lost my contact lens case; what should I do for the night?

I lost the case for my contact lenses and I seiously can't find it, and it's 1am so I cant go buy a new case. What should I do with my contacts for the night? should I put some solution in a cup and cover it or what?

So i cleaned my contact lenses case with tap water.....?

so today when i opened by contact lenses case in the middle of contacts was black dirt. immediately i took them out ... then i cleaned the case with tap water and right after i put my disinfecting contect lens solution in the little lense holders so they can disinfect

SO
1. should i still use that case that i rinsed with regular tap water? (i didnt know i wasn't supposed- i thought the tap water rule applied only to the contact lenses themselves and im currently soaking the lense case in the stuff i disinfect my contacts with)
2. if i put my contact lenses back into the case i rinsed with tap water, should i keep using the contact lenses? (i just put them in their temporarily-without the tap water-, and then when i found another case, i transfered them to that new case...)
3. how long should i use a contact lense case in general? i looked at the back of my contact lense solution thing and it said to discard every 30 days.... is this true?
4. if i continue using the contact lenses that i put back into the tap water rinsed case, what signs should i look for that indicate an eye infection?
thanks!!!

I forgot my contact case! Help!?

Im at a friends house for a sleepover right now and I forgot to pack my contacts solution and case! my parents are asleep right now so they cant come over to drop them off! I really need them for tommorow so I was wondering if I can put each one in separate glasses of clean poland springs water (since your not supposed to sleep with contacts in) please help me!

How often do you change a contact lens solution when you are not using them?

Most MPDS will allow safe storage in a WELL sealed lens case for up to 30days. However for safety and longterm storage I suggest changing the solution either everyday or every few days. Please read the manufacturers instructions and it will tell you what the time limit is. I wear monthly colored lenses infrequently every 1-2x a month and the colored lenses I wear are monthly lenses. Eventhough I wear them infrequently, I do discard them every 3–4 months or so. I clean/disinfect/neutralize with Alcon Clear Care Plus, since safe storage is 7 days. I then soak them in ALcon Replenish, which allows sterile storage for up to 30 days. Prior to wear I use Alcon clearcare again to deep clean/disinfect/neutralize for wear. Keeping contact lenses stored and clean is the major priority if they arent worn often.Remember lens cases are breading grounds for germs so make sure the lens case is clean and the storage solution AND lens case is changed frequently. For safe long term storage make sure your lens case is a high quality lens case that seals well. Lens cases that leak will breach disinfection and lenses can become ruined. Do not wear if this happens, you don’t wan to chance infection.
