What To Do With A Pregnant Cat

My pregnant cat has tapeworms?

Tapeworms are part of the cycle from fleas. So your cat has fleas, also. I cured my cat of tapeworms by feeding it diatomaceous earth, FOOD GRADE ONLY. (Sometimes called Crustacean diam. earth.) They will know what you are talking about at the health food store, you can get it at a health food store, it is very cheap. (You will get enough for mom & kittens for the whole neighborhood for only a few $$$) It is not harmful at all to animals (or people) unless inhaled. It actually improves the coat. What is it? Tiny microscopic seashells from the ocean floor, ground up. It is calcium in powder form, basically. The ground up seashells literally cut the microscopic eggs and soft bodies of worms inthe digestive system of an animal or human. But they will not harm the digestive system of people or animals.
However, it is a long tedious process to get rid of the worms. And you have to feed it twice a day, every day, for 60 DAYS. Put it in wet food. (you can give it in just a couple of teaspoons of wet food for an adult cat, a teaspoon of wet food in a kitten.)
How much to give? Adult cats, mix well: 2 teaspoons of diatomaceous earth in 2 teaspoons of wet food. Twice every day, for 60 days.
kittens: when a kitten is old enough to start eating wet catfood, you can feed them diatomaceous earth. 1/2 to 1 teaspoon diam. earth mixed in wet cat food, depending on how big they are (baby kittens 1/2 teaspoon, bigger kittens 1 teaspoon.)
This is sort of a pain, but well worth it to not feed your pets chemicals. And it is OK for pregnant and nursing cats, it is actually good for them. People feed it to them just to improve their coat, give extra calcium.

How do you tell if a stray cat is pregnant?

Thank you for the A2A. I assume you have been close enough to the stray cat to identify that she is definitely female. That, of course, would be the first step.If it is too early to tell by a visually obvious swollen tummy, you can watch for behavior clues - * An increased appetite. Pregnant cats need more nutrition. * Searching for nesting places. * Reaching out. Some cats seem to know they are going to need help to bring babies safely into the world. She may recognize you as a compassionate friend, and convey to you that she would like a mutually loving connection and your support. (From a pregnant cat’s perspective, her soon to arrive babies are the most important thing in the world.) * The search for safe places to give birth may be more noticeable in the last 2 weeks before the delivery. And she may become very restless just before and during the early stages of labor. If the cat allows you to handle her, you can check for a swollen tummy, and for nipples that are enlarged and pink (pinking up). Cats who aren’t pregnant normally have nipples that are the surrounding skin color and are unobtrusive. Pinking up starts to show at around 2–3 weeks after conception. As pregnancy progresses, you may be able to feel the babies inside the mother’s uterus. And you may be able to see them moving. However, some cats give birth to small litters of only 1 to 3 kittens, and it may be hard to detect them.In the spring and fall, and possibly other seasons if you are in a sunny climate; a free roaming, adult female cat who has not been spayed will likely come into heat every few weeks, attracting male attention and running about with suitors, if she is not pregnant. If you have adopted this cat, and can take it to a veterinarian, there are other ways to confirm pregnancy and determine the probable due date, as well as to check on the health status of mom and kittens. If you have adopted this cat, or are providing care for her, thank you for your kindness. If you have her in your care and pregnancy is confirmed, you may want to read - Sabira Woolley's answer to A cat just had its babies in my home. Do pregnant cats go to the bathroom more?

Yes pregnant cats do go to the bathroom more than usual its caused by pressure of her expanding tummy on her bladder, and with her growing tummy her bladder only holds half of what it would normally so feels full sooner so more trips to the bathroom, not only do they use the litter tray more but some cats can have an accident but if so its not deliberate,as they often cannot make it in time, and along with going more often many get diarrhoea a day or two before birth this is a sign of mild contractions,

you sound like you have done everything such as setting up a nesting box for her,and food dish but make sure the litter isn't to close to the feeding dish,as cats tend to flick the litter about after using it so the grit could get in to her food and water, apart from all sounds ok,

do you know how far along she is? as they are pregnant for 9 weeks, but during week 8 the kittens become active you should be able to see them moving about kicking,it is them turning over in the womb in preparation for the birth itself, then days before she should produce her first milk this is known as colostrum,as looks like dried powder on her nipples,

so yes they do go to the bathroom more,i have seen it all before and had many pregnant queens(cats) in my care and raised many kittens from birth, dont worry all is well and your doing a good job of caring for her, heres a link about what to expect with the pregnancy and birth may come in usefull,

Why does my pregnant cat eat grass?

All cats love grass.. It helps them clean out their stomachs... I know it makes them barf, but sometimes they feel better afterward because of all the hair stuck in their intestines from grooming. It doesn't come out the other end, if ya know what I mean.... It is kinda like self-induced vomiting. Weird, but they love it... Pet stores even sell cat grass that you can grow for them, so u can be confident that they won't be getting any poisonous pesticides, or weed killers in their system when eating grass from the outdoors.

Why is my pregnant cat meowing a lot? What do I do?

It sounds like she definitely pregnant. Before a cat gives birth, it is normal for them to want to find a safe and comfortable spot to have her kittens. It sounds like she is trying to tell you that she has decided that spot should be inside your house. She keeps meowing because you haven’t done her bidding and allowed her inside yet. I suggest you open the door and let her inside. Then find a nice big box and cut the sides down to about 1–1/2 feet in height. Put some old towels an blankets in it. Place this in a quiet but warm place. Put her food and water just outside of the box. Put the litter box outside of this room where she has access but not so close that the odor of it overpowers her food. Gently place her in this box.The odds are about 50/50 that she will actually have her kittens in that box. There are ways to increase those odds. Close the doors to any rooms with beds or soft furniture unless you are with her. Those would be more appealing to her than the box. If you are not watching her, attempt to keep her confined to areas that only have cold, hard surfaces so that her box is more appealing.I had once adopted a pregnant cat and did all this. One day, I saw her violently shiver. I am assuming that was a contraction. She was on the couch. I immediately picked her up and took her to her box. She no longer had the energy to argue with me and soon afterwards the first kitten was born. She gave birth to 6 healthy kittens and kept them in the box until they were big enough to climb out. By that time, they were old enough to learn to use the litter box. The Mom did a great job of teaching them how to do that.By the way, I don’t think you adopted the abandoned cat. I think she adopted you. Cats are clever like that. They let you think you are getting your way when they are actually manipulating you to get things their way.Excuse me, my cat is demanding my attention. I must obey her wishes.

What are some signs that a pregnant cat is going into labor?

She will usually find a safe quiet place, so you may not get any real warning. Sometimes there's a small amount of bloody mucus, but that can happen a couple of days before real labor, or not at all.If you do find your cat and she's in labor, she will be breathing heavily and possibly purring to comfort herself. If you put your hands on her belly, you'll be able to feel the contractions. My last pregnant cat went into labor sitting on my lap. It took a great deal of convincing to get her to stay on the box we made for her, and she only agreed to it when I put the box right next to my chair and left my hand on her body.

I live with two cats and 1 pregnant cat. The two cats are daughters of the pregnant cat. If mom cat gives birth will the two cats accept the kittens?

this same situation had happened in our house. the elder kittens (two females) were scared of the new kittens because till then they hadn't seen someone so tiny and looking similar to their real siblings. After few days they got use to it. but they never really get mixed with the new batch.but the story was not same when they (the elder cats) got their own kittens. the secnod cat delivered kittens two months after the first one. So their was a batch of kittens two months older to the other batch. And they grew up like real siblings. The elder one was a male and he very well took care of his litle sister.
