What To Expect And How To Be Calm During Road Test

What driver instructors look for during road test?

when taking a road test, what do the instructors look for? like i know your supposed to check all your mirrors before you pull out and such, but where are your eyes expected to be looking while driving? tips? expectations? by the way, i live in NY if that makes a difference.

Staying calm during driving test?

Classic stage fright, also known as performance anxiety. You know you're being watched (which makes it hard for everyone) and that this is for all the marbles, so you're letting the fear own you. It happens.

Try this next time out: Pretend you're an expert driving instructor, and the person next to you is an extremely nervous student who wants to watch you do it so they can learn. You're not being tested, you're patiently and skillfully showing someone how to drive with perfect precision. You're also showing them how easy it is to keep yourself calm and collected while doing it, and if they watch you intently they'll build up enough confidence to try it on their own.

You're not lying to anyone, just playing a little bit of make-believe. That works in situations like that, because it lets you borrow a bit of confidence from your future self that you don't have to pay back later. Give it a try when you're practising, and you should feel the difference.

Also, pretend the person next to you is naked. That works too.

I am to take my UK driving test (practical) next week. Any tips to pass it in the first attempt?

Depending on how far you want to go, there are a few thing you can do.Firstly, your chances of passing are significantly influenced by how much practise you get behind the wheel. However, this is expensive because petrol is expensive, so you can use visualisation to help (elite athlete, business leaders, etc) use visualisation and it's been proven to work almost as effectively as performing the action itself as it mentally prepares you for the situation - this article has an overview related to taking a driving test: Using visualisation to help you pass your driving test.Other than that, make sure that you eat healthily on the day and stay hydrated. Dehydration will cause sluggishness. If your test is in the afternoon avoid eating foods with high fat and protein content like a pie because they will make you sleepy. Also, stay away from highly spiced foods because otherwise you'll create an unfavourable atmosphere in the car and the examiner will want to get out of it. Choose a lunch with lots of vegetables and neutral, bland ingredients. If you get at all anxious then practise some breathing exercises to calm you down.As Rob Vint said, stay calm and be friendly towards the examiner. A confident handshake is good. Have your driving instructor take you through mock tests so you know what to expect. When you drive, mimic the test environment. You won't be listening to music in your test, so don't listen to music when you are practising because that creates extra cognitive load when you then are in a pressure situation and the parameters have changed.Good luck with it!

I failed my driving test?

I failed my driving test today for the first time and it gave a huge blow to my confidence. I feel as though now when I take the test again I'm going to fail again and again. I have 2 questions:

1.)How can I calm my nerves and give myself confidence about it? I've been in a horrible mood all today and I have hardly eaten. I'm just depressed and I have a feeling that I will surely fail again.

2.)What happens to you if you fail the road test 3 times? Do you have to retake a driver course or do they let you take the test for more than 3 times without retaking the course?

Any answers would be appreciated.
