What To Expect From A Drama Workshop Audition

How to find acting auditions for Major Television Shows?

Here's how you get into acting:
The first thing you need is experience. You should start small and work on building a resume to submit to potential agencies (when the time comes) Audition for school plays and join the drama club. You should also try out for local community theatre shows. Take as many acting classes as possible. Read some books on acting (those by Stella Adler, Lee Strasberg, Kristen Linklater and Jack Poggi are great).

If you feel you are ready, look up auditions on http://www.actorsaccess.com/index.cfm?fl...

All three websites are reputable, legitimate and free. You generally need a head shot and resume (this website has great information on creating a resume http://www.bestsampleresume.com/acting-r… When you have enough experience you should begin to look for an agent. Look up agents on the SAG website. An agent will get you more auditions

What exactly is an "audition workshop"?

Actually, $125 may be reasonable, but how long is it? Is it a week, two days, one day? If it is four days or so, that is a reasonable price. Anyway, an audition workshop is where the director teaches you what actually is going to happen at an audition. He/she will probably give you a monolouge to read or some lines from a script to read. You should bring a notebook and a pencil, because you need to take notes. Don't be nervous, it sounds like a great opprutunity, just keep reading in on it to make sure it is legit, because I cannot tell yet,

I have an audition for a school play, what should my monologue be?

OK, so I am auditioning for a high school play soon. It is a senior show. Basically the senior show is a play that all of the drama workshop seniors get to write for about a year and perform it the next. This years show is about a guy falling asleep and he dreams of entering into TV and we see many of today's shows that he is in. Anyways, when we audition we need to have our own monologue to perform on stage. We are allowed to do one from a sitcom or a play. I am having trouble just finding one on my own. I get close to finding one but it just does not work out. I would like to find one that has a little humor in it and yet can still define itself.
Do you know of any great well known monologues from sitcoms or plays? What is the play or show name? Can you make it a monologue too please?

Please do not be the person that says "I can help you out here is the link." or "Why are you too lazy to find one yourself?" Because I have looked for a while and nothing seems to come to mind. Any tips on auditioning? Thanks I really appreciate it and have a good day

Do actors start by taking acting classes then auditioning, or were they everyday people who just so happened to try their luck at acting?

Most successful actors were trained, you can show up and just try your luck at acting if you want, but you might as well just enter the lottery instead at that point. Randomly auditioning and hoping will not help you improve, and will almost certainly not land you a role. There are a few ways to train to be an actor.Go to school for it, the degree won’t matter but the experience will.Take short-term acting workshops or hire a coach. They will be able to provide you with an enormous amount of insightful feedback. Don’t get your feedback from non-actors. They will have no idea what the fuck they are talking about, and the advice they give often does more hurt than good.Create your own content, make your own short films/plays and act in them. Film is especially good for training because you can see your own performances.Audition for non-professional work, find an amateur director who is looking for “some guy” to play the lead or supporting role. You will get paid little to nothing for it, but your chances of landing the part without any real experience are much higher, and you can learn a lot from it.Watch other accomplished actors, and do so critically.Reading acting books will broaden your perspective of what it means to be an actor, and give you techniques that other actors use, but simply reading the book is not training. Apply the knowledge you get from your reading to steps 1–5.I wouldn’t waste my time on extra work. Maybe do it once for an experience of what it is like to be on a hollywood/bollywood set, but thereafter you’ll learn very little for it and get paid minimally for your efforts. Actual leading/supporting roles, even from amateur directors who don’t pay will still provide more value in the long run. Once you get enough film roles you can put together a demo reel as part of your resume. If you’re looking for Acting books, my top picks are.Uta Hagen’s Challenge For The ActorAudition, by Michael Shurtleff

Acting: How does one successfully audition for small roles?

Here's an answer borrowed from my blog http://www.workingactorwisdom.com, which is geared toward actors living in LA or NY and auditioning primarily for television, but the ideas can be easily translated to film and theater.Understand your job. This is true for all guest actors, but especially one-liners; It’s not about you. You’re there to serve the story, and to make the series regular(s) look good. If it’s comedy, odds are you’re setting up a laugh for a series regular; if it’s drama, you’re serving the series regulars’ story in some way, so keep that in mind when making your choices.Tell a story. The scene isn’t about you, but the audition is. So even if the script says you enter, say ‘here’s your coffee,’ and exit, you need a beginning, middle, and end. What are you doing leading up to your line? What do you do afterwards? How does your character feel about the main action of the scene? Think about a ‘button,’ or closing moment, to make the audition feel complete. You may not use any of it when you shoot, but the decision-makers want someone who can be a living, breathing character within that one line.Keep it simple. One of the most common complaints decision makers have about one-line auditions is that actors try to ‘make a meal’ out of them. We try to pack all of our talent and range into that short audition, hoping it’ll lead to bigger things down the road. But what we’re actually doing is demonstrating that we don’t understand our job (see #1.)  The best way to turn a one-line audition into something bigger later is to do serve the script you've got. If it’s a one-liner, let it be what it is. Get in, play your choices, and get out. Prove that you can do that well, and soon you’ll get a chance to do more.

I want to be an actor but i have no experience?

I really want to be an actor, i know i have to get experience but i am finding it hard to find workshops and classes in my area. What would be the best way to get experience-go college or to a workshop, im not able to afford a drama school yet. If i go college when i finished the course would i then have to go drama school or could i look for acting roles straight after?
