What do I get my best guy friend for Christmas?
I have no idea what to get my best friend for Christmas. We're both 17, and I'm absolutely crazy about him. I want to show it somehow but I don't wanna be pushy about it, but I really wanna get him something amazing for Christmas and his birthday as just a friend. He's a very mature guy, loves Christian music (but I can't get him a CD of his favorite band 'cause he already has that), and fishing, hunting, and basically the outdoors in general are his passions. He also likes country and oldies, like the Beatles. He'll wear a bracelet, but with as active as he is, he breaks them *all the time*, not meaning I'm ruling them out but they're low on the list. Unfortunately I'm the world's worst gift-giver. I have very few ideas and even fewer good ones, but I'm thinking a Christian CD or some doohickey for his bike or something. Any ideas??? Oh, and bad ideas: 1. cologne (not only 'cause it's too personal but 'cause I don't think he wears it) 2. books 3. movies (he doesn't really watch them, and the ones he likes, he has) 4. I'm saving tee shirts as a last resort (I got him one the year before last and I haven't seen it since--probably 'cause something happened to it or it's buried somewhere in his room (he was glowing when he opened it, so I know he liked it) ) 5. gift cards (I think it'd say "I had no idea what to get you and didn't take the time to think of something other than this piece of plastic" to the guy who's always been there for me and who means the world to me) 6. video games (he'd probably use them as a coaster lol)

Good for you girl!!! :) I have the exact same situation. My best friend is also a guy. We became friends when I was 14 and he was 13. I'm 18 now, and we're still going strong! This Christmas I got him his favorate flower. He loves Jasmin, so I grew one from scratch, and planted it in this amazing pot. He's a bit macho, so not many people would think to get him a plant. Much less a flower. The previous years i got him stuff like a skateboard, or a dart gun. Anyway, what im trying to say is: he'd love anything you get him. Just put alot of effort and love into it. Fifty bucks? Must be a very good friend or someone who wants to do more than watch the ball drop on New Years. Depends on the guy type. is your friend a sports guy, Car guy, nerd Guy, Military guy, vidya guy, tattoo and piercings guy or Gentleman? For the sports guy, you can't go wrong with a nostalgic DVD of his favorite teams highlight clips from the past thirty years. Team memorabilia and decor also acceptable. Car Guys are a little bit more difficult to buy a gift but they are fairly practical and accept things like leather wallets, wallet chains Riding gear. The occasional Harley Davidson item. Nerds love TV technology and books, I know because I was one. See what his favorite book series or tv series is and get him the next in line. Whole seasons of his favorite show are also acceptable. You can also get them gift cards like Amazon, and Ironic shirts. Military guys like guns. you won't be buying one of those but The Art of war (it's a tactics book) or the non fiction guides biographies of generals or wars are pretty well liked. They also tnd to be more into fitness so weights etc Vidya guys, buy them a video game. Done. Tattoo and piercings they usually like a smattering of other things but really like the eclectic. Alcohol is favored especially Blue Label Walker. Really any guy would like liquor (and yes I realize the age, as long as he doesn't drink it, it's not illegal in most states) Gentlemen, they like a larger collection and diversity. Fine wines, Poker gear, premiere tickets to plays, musicals, art movies etc. They especially like items in pairs or that are shareable with you If you are just friends, you can go cheap and just get a gift card. if you want more than that go thoughtful. if you guys have flirted with a relationship add a little romantic flair. Whatever you do don't get a guy clothing unless he really really likes clothes.

A decent, inexpensive gift is a subscriptin to a fishing/outdoors magazine. It will be a gift the whole year. If you can spend a good bit of money, find a few of the best fishing spots in your state and plan a weekend with him there together or even better let him go with a good fishing buddy/friend. Have it all paid for, hotel, fishing trip with guides, dinners - and give him details in an envelope! A tackle box with different lures and baits that you select (with some professional sales help) would be cool too.

Here's the deal. Me and this guy have a lot of history, but we've moved past it all and we are now best friends. We hang out together at least two times a week(usually more) we know a lot about each other and, unfortunately, I'm head over heels for him, but he has no clue. He and his girlfriend of seven months just broke up and I want to get him a gift that isn't stupid, like a video game, but something that's thoughtful and sincere without implying that we are anything but friends. We are going on a "friend date" on the 23rd of December to exchange gifts and we have already agreed that we are going to give each other "thoughtful meaningful letters" so I just need actual gift ideas.
