my dad is distant, he doesnt show much emotion and lets just say i am not his favorite kid, he thinks i dress like a whore and that i am shallow and mean, he never lets me out, i know he means well... ithink, but we were never close and i really want to change that, i know he loves me but he thinks i am spoiled. and im honestly not. anyways, he likes fishing but i want to get him a gift from the heart, 50 dollars or under, he is 45 and it should either be funny or deep, any ideas?

My Dad just died, what should I get my Mom for Christmas?
You know how all our Moms say "Oh I don't want anything, don't worry about me" every year?! Well I really want to get my Mom something nice this year. My Dad died in February and since then my Mom's health has gone down a little. It's mainly her back, neck and feet that bug her and I want to get her something that will comfort her pain to make this season a little easier on her. I have 8 older brothers and sisters who get her the obligatory photo albums, socks, blankets,ointments so that makes it hard to compete with them. Plus everyone in the entire state of Utah just happened to know my Dad and so they're already sending a bunch of stuff to my Mom. Any ideas? One again I'm thinking of something to help her back, neck or feet. P.S. not a massage chair, heated blanket or foot spa...any other ideas would be so helpful!

Thanks for the request Mary Jeffery!!Pfft no.Actually ever since me nmy older sister hit teen years we were in charge of doin the hard stuff. My dad brings in the tree but thats it. We have to put it up. put the lights which isnt easy make sure everythin is in ordern then the little ones come in n decorate it.Altho it really ticked me off last year cause my dad said my lil bro can decorate it when my lil sister was in the shower. H didn’t care whethere raiven was included or not…That old man ticks me off with everythin he does n says…But ya once christmas is over me n my older sis have to take down the tree n take it appart n all that.I also have to put up the lights outside n clean for the christmas party n all that while the little ones don’t have to do crap. When my child was small and I had very little extra money, we made home crafts and cards for her dad’s family and my family.I made sure that she called her Dad, grandparents & aunts and uncles on their birthdays. I encouraged her to make home-made birthday cards too for them.As she got older, I would still remind her to birthdays until she went to college but by then she had a cell phone & could make the call herself.I always made sure that she went to her Dad’s family functions - funerals, birthdays, Thanksgiving, etc.We would go shopping for gifts for Dad and his other relatives at places where I could afford to buy the items. Little kids don’t have any concept of money so I would select several items and let her pick which gift she gave him.I thought it was important to teach her the importance of giving gifts to others and to be involved with her Dad’s family.He did likewise for me and my family.
